Like most people, I tend to rent games only if my wallet is running low on cash. Or if it's a game I know I wont like that well, but want to try it anyway. And usually, if I beat a game within the time I rented it for, I don't buy it. If it were something like for example, a FF game, that I wanted to try, I would rent it, like it and not beat it in a week, then go to a local gamestop/used gaming store and purchased the game.

But this is not very often. I don't rent more than about 5-7 games a year.

Then again, that could be a lot compared to some of you.

I buy most of my games since they're PC games, but I've gotten a lot of them once they've gone down in price since I'm usually in the middle of another game when games like Mass Effect or Bioshock come out. I've bought a couple games for my DS, but after I get done with them, the kids will play them (except GTA), so they'll get a fair amount of use. We have rented a few games for the PS2, but the kids generally get the games they want as b-day or Christmas gifts so we haven't spent a ton on games for them other than the big Rock Band 'investment' a few weeks back.

I used to rent a lot when I had my regular xbox and the local blockbuster still had a decent section dedicated to xbox. If it's a game that sparks my interest, I'd normally like to rent it before buying it, but considering I don't always have money due to me not having a job because I don't have a license, it get's a little difficult. I just replay the games I have over and over again, trying to unlock everything. Renting for me is just something I don't do, especially considering the hastle I have to go through to rent M rated games.

*notices Jaes' posts that are the same but about 3 hours apart*

"You don't see Jae's duplicate post" ;P

I don't see Jae's duplicate post...

I got Gamefly, Which works out very well.

So, yeah...

I used to have Gamefly, but I got rid of it because I got preoccupied with PC gaming and I never used it. Whats the point of paying money for a service I didn't use for 2+ months?

If I still had a console, yeah I'd rent. I used to rent all of the time because it was cheaper than buying.

Stingerhs is right. There are a lot games out there that are worth a playthrough but have little or no replay value, and that's where renting comes in. It's also where consoles beat the PC because it's so much more cost-effective.

I still like my PC, though. ;)

She's referring to the fact that most PC games have activation codes that you need to enter each time, genius.

Not only activation codes, but you need to install it and once it is there it is there and unless they keep the requirement of the CD in the drive (which is an incredibly easy hack), you would effectively be buying it.

Outside of On-Live, I don't see how renting out PC games is even possible off the top of my head.
