I'm interested to see what they do with this game for the Wii U version. Last I heard from Rockstar was that they were going for a Wii U release of GTA V along with the PS3 and 360 versions... could be interesting.

It'd be nice if they did more building interiors this time around... you know, instead of textured shop fronts EVERYWHERE. I wanna break into stuff dammit :carms:

More Strip Clubs? :xp:

I wouldn't be expecting anything beyond what we got with GTA4, given that they will still be using the same engine (albeit tweaked slightly, no doubt).

Personally I'm hoping for a bit more of a mix of landscapes rather than another big city like GTA4 - something more akin to what San Andreas did with some open spaces.

Well, yes. That port was a mess.
Ah. I played the console version.

Agreed.

They made mistakes in GTA IV? Best one yet.
My vote goes to Vice City. GTA IV was an oddity for me, while I thought the story was better than the previous installments, it is the only GTA game that I haven't touched once I finished it, so yeah...

I never finished 3. I finished Vice City once. I played San Andreas more times than I care to admit (I blame the nostalgia factor of being in high school in the early 90's). But GTA IV had the best narrative.

I'm sure they'd be able to make the engine more efficient enough to allow for more things in the game. After all, they tweaked the RAGE engine enough for RDR.

In what may or may not be a coincidence, careful internet observers noticed that Rockstar's announcement today coincides with the three-year anniversary of Jack Thompson's disbarment in the State of Florida. Thompson won his fame by suing Rockstar for selling "murder simulators" like Bully and GTA to minors, but his behavior in court belittling judges and defendants alike ended in his rights to argue in Florida courts being revoked in 2008. The effective date of Thompson's disbarment? October 25th. Well played, Rockstar.

Well played indeed.

EDIT: Concerning the origin of the logo, someone over at Reddit discovered it is very similar to the US 1899 5 dollar bill (logo to the left of the portrait of Chief Running Antelope of the Sioux). It's not an exact match, but pretty close:

In the comments of a Rock Paper Shotgun article, someone suggested that a setting based around the exact same area as Red Dead Redemption but in modern times would be pretty cool (and feasible, given the logo's possible source), and I have to agree. Plenty of GTA fodder there with the whole US/Mexican border issues, drug cartels, etc. It would actually be good to have a GTA game for once with no mention of the Mafia.

Man, this is my month. First the kings return to prime time, then this gets announced. All I need now are some riot dominator gloves and I'm set.

If they were going to be somewhat original of landscape and setting they could also do some areas they hadn't done before. The midwest up through Canada. I'd love to start pummeling and shooting mounties. Or have some bonus mission like Deer overpopulation shooting. Not sure what kind of alternate name would be given to a place Detroit, though. Motor City? Grand Theft Auto: Motor City?

Arizona, Oregon, New Mexico, Northen Cali, Northern NV. Places like that.

$***. I'm down with that.

I agree, though I doubt if you could completely get away form it. I liked the setting of San Andreas, though that may just be my bias speaking since I'm a Californian. :p If they could include Aztecs and Native Americans, that would be a nice touch.

My favourite is GTA III.

Hey, we all have our thing. My two faves are Vice City and San Andreas.

Oh and Rockstar: JETPACKS and Death Rays--though nothing too for out. Just those chemical excimer laser cannons the government has considered arming 747 planes with. You know, the ones mentioned occsionally on Scientific American magazine? Yeah those.

You may well be in luck. Current rumours peg somewhere in California as the front runner for GTA5's location. Personally I'd prefer an all new location, but seeing as they reimagined Liberty City for GTA4, it's not out of the question they could reimagine San Andreas for GTA5. I guess we'll know one way or the other in just a few days.

You may as well say you don't want the sun to rise. The probabilities of both occurring are about the same.

That would be really awesome. I'd love a GTA game with deserts that you can drive someone out to and make them dig their own grave (is that a little weird?).

A European or even non-american one would be nice, but if it was in London they'd have to change the name to TWOC (Police lingo for car theft here), and they'd no doubt fill it with mockney accents.

I want my GTA: Tokyo dammit! They could throw in some nice references to the Yakuza missions in GTA3.

Casino: The Game? I guess GTA: SA already did it, but kind of in reverse.

Nah. Unless you consider sociopathy/psychopathy weird.

Yes, as the rumours suggested. A shame, as I was hoping for something a bit different, but I guess we'll see how it goes.

Yes, me too. I was hoping for something based on Washington, or some other country outside the US. It looks nice, though. And there are dogs.
