Would it be worth creating an “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle SPOILERS” thread? I think the game will go on early release tomorrow or Friday.

I think there should be. I think late Thursday night/ early Friday morning the 3 day early access will start

Preview by PCGamer (in spoiler tags, because the URL reveals an opinion):

The sentence that stood out to me was:

The movie part, then, is nailed—it's the videogame part that doesn't seem to quite click.

Maybe it should just “point” and click?

Same. And in no way will I be able to wait until spring to play this on my PS5. Luckily my WFH machine is quite a beast, and I just successfully set up Steam Remote Play to stream the game to my laptop downstairs, hooked up to my 82'' TV. This will be glorious!

Spent about 3 hours with it last night. The Escape from Butcher Bay comparisons that were noted in several previews feel pretty apt so far.

I'm tempted to hold off on playing more until I can upgrade to a video card such that I don't have to play on low settings, but either way, I'm really enjoying it!

I gotta say... I was pretty sceptical about this. But after the good press and reactions it's been getting, I'm kinda curious!

Too bad I don't have the hardware to play this.

There's always Xbox gamepass to stream the game to any hardware (even a lot of smart TVs). You just need a good internet connection.

I’ll repost my question here from the spoiler thread I just rediscovered buried under a thick layer of spam topics*. (Admins please ban these two guys and set up something that won’t allow a new user to create a new topic for the first week or so). Anyway:

what is the best way to play this  game without breaking the bank? The last time I bought a PC with a then-top-of-the-line graphics card was in 2004 and honestly I haven’t followed the evolution since, as any average 3D card and integrated GPU run all the old games I play just fine. (Sam and Max, Brütal Legend)

I don’t expect my most recent laptop (i.e. over 10 year old - which is fine for other gaming archeology like The Infernal Machine, Lego Indiana Jones, and the Emperor’s Tomb) to run the Great Circle. It may even have not enough diskspace to simply install it.

I saw a gaming PC with the recommended specs (albeit on the “low“ side with an 8GB RTX4060) in a store the other day for €1600. Keyboard and mouse not included. An Xbox X was about half of that, but I’m still not paying that to play a single game.

I never tried any streaming services before. Researching online I was quickly put off by all the ranting about long wait times to get on a server and the tiered subscription formulas. Given I’ll probably need a year or two to complete this game with play sessions few and far between, a subscription service sounds like a silent money drain. (It took me over 10 years to complete JK: Jedi Outcast, and I haven’t made it past the third level in the Force Awakens in the last decade).

I think the game requires quite a beefy PC, so if you don't have that, it's probably the most expensive option, followed by getting an Xbox.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a game streaming service that costs something between 10 to 30 bucks a month, and only needs a fast and stable internet connection to stream Xbox games to your PC/tablet/phone/VR headset/smart TV. I think a few games don't even need a paid subscription (like Fortnite), so those might be a good way to check if streaming works for you. I've never tried it myself, but according to different reviews, the experience might vary. It seems to be the cheapest option though.

I don't know if renting consoles and games is still a thing? I know in the 90s and 00s it was possible, and a cheap way as well. But ever since consoles required actual online accounts that tie a console to a player, it's probably become a bit more complicated.

Xbox Series X is pretty much a third of the price for a PC you’d need to run this well.

Game streaming has been very good for some years now as long as your internet is decent and you use a game pad.
