BillyCheers
What a great platform! Where else could you discuss whether monkey arms or heads count or try to find proofs if two pixel monkeys are the same or not. 🥰 3

Elaine ostensibly could have smuggled the Monkey Island one onto the ship -- or it could be the same type of monkey picked up elsewhere. She must have collected them from somewhere at least. It might not be far fetched to think of the monkey cast as an ensemble. Elaine could have collected Smirk's Monkey and the one she found hanging around the great monkey head. And those blue eyes ... maybe we should wait for official word (it's pretty obviously the same monkey in the Special Edition, but by my own rules, the SEs don't count 😬). On that note, @Jake can surely rectify our ailing ToMI monkey count? Edited September 1, 2022 by Vainamoinen
BaronGrackle
Related topic: is the parrot in Booty Boutique the same as the one on Dinky Island? ARGUMENTS FOR: 1. This is the same breed of parrot: red head, yellow belly, purple wings with green tips. 2. Both are called "Polly" or "Mr. Polly". 3. With the MI2 ending, these locations might be very very close together. The amusement park looks a lot like Booty Island, right outside the store. If this is actually the same parrot and his name is Polly, then is "Polly the Squawker Lives in Davy Jones' Locker" about him? Is this parrot undead??!!! Probably not. Probably not.
JacquesSparkyTail
Also while we’re here we might as well clear up if the scumm bar seagull is the same one that died on flotsam island. I vote no because why would it be. pretty sure the men of low moral fibre and the gopher repellent are one in the same though.

BaronGrackle
Also... Does this script indicate that the two monkeys, together, are collectively named "Jojo"? Or, is the hat monkey so insignificant that it doesn't get acknowledged, with all of the false bride's actions being attributed to a different monkey named Jojo? If the script for Smirk's machine doesn't include that hat monkey, is it arguable that the hat monkey doesn't actually exist? Remi
It is also entirely possible for Jojo to have gone to Melee with Elaine and then traveled back to Monkey to hang from the totem pole. This is just science, people. 2 1 1

NoirReservoir
As a well and truly respected Monkey Island researcher, I would be doing a disservice by not involving myself in this debate, and throwing my nonsensical opinion into the ring. My answer? Escape from Monkey Island. Yeah, I said it. I secretly believe none of the Monkeys are real in that game. Do I have evidence? No. But I have a hunch, and those pay off. They likely changed that because the preceding games never hit the PS2, hence the vague reference to "the hit adventure series." So, in that sense, the back of the PC box's claim stands. But: Is that mere hubris not rooted in fact?

Unless the wedding dress monkey is in fact a seperate monkey in which case there are 4 jojos out of 6 monkeys bringing the jpi up to a solid 66.6 recurring. With statistics like that it’s only logical to assume that every simian in caribbean is called jojo and that jacques and timmy are foreign visitors. Timmys got a clear boston twang to his ooks and eeks and with a name like jacques, he’s probably a norwegian.
