Boba Rhett Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 Here's a list of requirements Sherack wrote. In order of importance: 1) Make good posts. Encourage intelligent discussion, not spamming. It's the best way to become a mod AND a valuable member here. 2) There has to be a demand. We don't promote mods for fun here, there must be positions open. 3) Be available. If you can only get online once a week, it's pretty pointless to promote you to moderator. 4) Type well. Although this is facultative, we favor people who use correct punctuation and grammar in their posts.
Young David Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 1) Make good posts. Encourage intelligent discussion, not spamming. It's the best way to become a mod AND a valuable member here. Uhm ... check 2) There has to be a demand. We don't promote mods for fun here, there must be positions open. Isn't Jay m.i.a.? 3) Be available. If you can only get online once a week, it's pretty pointless to promote you to moderator. Check 4) Type well. Although this is facultative, we favor people who use correct punctuation and grammar in their posts. Chek Oh yeah ... one last thing ... Don't call the mods ... they call you.
Rogue15 Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 well, just remember, I WAS THE FIRST TO ASK. So do not forget.
CaptainRAVE Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 All you have to do is suck up loads. Believe me, being a mod is not as much fun as you may think. Youd have to be on here loads, read through every single post leaving you very little time to post on here yourself.
TieDefender75 Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 everyday i think. "there is going to be a pm for me about becoming a mod" never got it:( oh well, i think it will come soon. 1) sometimes but rarely i spam 2) when there is an opening 3) 4 times a week 4) eheh um u decide.
Zygomaticus Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 1) always good posts, good topics(since recent times), Report and correct spammers 2) when there is an opening 3)Every single day morning 6-620, afternoon in school 1245-1 evening another 2-2.5 hours anytime and i read all the posts 4) all mine are correct except u= you r= are cuz= because and i dont use full stops:D
Sherack Nhar Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 People, we're currently not looking to fill any mod position. So it's pointless to post your...resume.
Zygomaticus Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 its for future use, i can see the future, and as i said "when there is an opening"
Natopo Posted January 20, 2002 Author Posted January 20, 2002 Thanks for the advice! I'll keep this written so I can remember it for future use. I hope I can become a mod one day.*crosses fingers*
Rogue Nine Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 Modding isn't really all that glamourous. I think the reason why most people want to be a mod is because of the power trip they get from being in an influential position. But that quickly wears off when you realize you actually have to work at your job in order to keep it.
Natopo Posted January 20, 2002 Author Posted January 20, 2002 Well the main reason I wanted to be a mod was because I wanted to be able to use attachments and look around and keep the forums cleaned. I'm not kidding! Honest!
Rogue Nine Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 That's great you want to help out, but that's why Rhett, Eets, fergie and I are around. You can do your own part by not cluttering up the boards with spam.
Natopo Posted January 20, 2002 Author Posted January 20, 2002 Wait a minute. Back up a bit. Eets is a mod?
FlyBOy Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 Yeah he is. Seems they're handing out Mod positions to anyone these days:rolleyes:
Natopo Posted January 20, 2002 Author Posted January 20, 2002 Really? *Calls Eets* You oughta mention that somewhere in your sig or avatar.
matt-- Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 Originally posted by Natopo Well the main reason I wanted to be a mod was because I wanted to be able to use attachments and look around and keep the forums cleaned. I'm not kidding! Honest! So you want the privileges to the *suspense inducing music* hidden mod rooms? They just don't promote anyone to mod status. If you notice, eets makes sig banners and avatars for anyone that requests them. Oh, and if you look, eets' sig says that he's a LFnetwork graphics designer.
Rogue15 Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 hey matt, i still can't see the private mod rooms...i asked ike, and he said we should be able to, but has done nothing about it even tho me and Rogue9 asked a few times. I don't blame ike for not trying to fix it so we could see them , cause that might mess up our accounts...
Wraith 8 Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 i think the question to become a mod is the question that keeps us all busy... and everybody knows that they will most likely NOT become a mod:D..... anywho... i wonder how many times this question was asked.
Eets Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 <---------- Notice the rank I know what you're talking about the power trip fading, Rogue Nine. It's gone now.. Being a mod isn't all that fun, I mean, the first day I was here I had to censor a picture of a naked cadaver :-|
Rogue15 Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 mine's gone now too...cuz everyone is AFRAID of me and Rogue9's forum!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! There is no escape.
darthfergie Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 Mine's been gone. From Porkins revolt to the everyday grind...It's just normal now. I still have fun though...otherwise I wouldn't be posting and would be long gone. Before you get into modding seriously consider the time and energy you'll need to fill the post. Also realize that if you don't like being yelled at by forumers because you deleted their posts etc. then you definatly don't want the position. Just consider it...
