Eldritch
The Bond movies have gotten weak after Goldeneye. The last one I saw in the theatre was the one after that (Tomorrow Never Dies, I think) - with it's ridiculous plot and too much focusing on action, I thought it sucked. I've seen the other ones since then, but only at home. The old school Bond movies were much better, with *actual* spying and Bond was a slick, smooth operator. Now the movies are like a 2 hour product endorsement show with explosions and beautiful chicks (which isn't a bad idea on it's own, it just shouldn't be a Bond movie). I think the Bond series either needs to find its roots, or stop making movies, because it's just ruining the name right now.

Taos
I'm a big 007 fan and I too think Goldeneye was the last good Bond movie..... I hope this one lives up to the standard that was set by the main man, Sean Connery!!! The trailer does look good though........they always do *shrugs*

Halle proved she could cry a lot in that movie, but it wasn't that moving. Didn't touch anyone I know on a personal level. I think the Oscar thing was rigged, because Denzel and Halle were basically calling them racists... if they didn't win, they would REALLY start flaming the Academy, and they'd have all kinds of bad publicity on their hands. I've never seen an actress win the Academy Award for Best Actress for a movie where she "got slipped the salami" like THAT. It makes me think it was total BS. I can see her winning best actress in a PORNO for that movie, though. -Anakin
thehomicidalegg
yah... goldeneye was kind of the end of the sequence of the good bond films, the last 2 fell away...kinda like right after sean connory stopped being bond...the period after taht was less than convincing.... StormHammer
Yeah, nice trailer. Thanks for the heads-up. I wouldn't necessarily agree about the Bond franchise losing steam (although T.W.I.N.E. was a disappointment), because it's had to evolve over the past 40 years to cater for new audiences, and new generations. I do like the way that Brosnan has brought back the harder edge to Bond (which was evident in Sean Connery's portrayal of the character from the very first, Dr. No), and that's to be applauded. Of course, there have been some very weak Bond films over the years, and there is a tendency of recurring plots (madman tries to take over world with nuclear weapons), but even so, I watch them for the thrill ride and entertainment, rather than the more cerebral approach. If I want that, I'll watch The Ipcress File, or some other spy thriller in a similar vein. I just hope that when Brosnan decides to give up the role (which he very well might do after D.A.D.), they can find someone to continue in the same vein. Sivy
never say never again wasn't too hot either, though connery is the best bond.
acdcfanbill
ya, well, never say never again wasnt made by the same company that has done all the rest of them, excluding casino royal of course... anyway, that is the reason it wasnt so good. Darth Groovy
Actually I thought License To Kill was about the worst Bond film I ever saw. Thunderball and Goldeneye were my favorites. I am a huge Bond fan also.
