C'jais
Is the Valley and MP forum dying? I think they're already dead, but that's just IMHO. Maybe the game isn't dead yet, but the community is surely suffering. *sniff* <Nostalgia from 4 months ago sets in>
FatalStrike
yes and I told all of you this long ago. The game started to die when the patches were released. I am not trying to turn this into a 1.02 v 1.04 argument, I am just saying if you track the decline you will notice that the release of 1.03 and 1.04 resulted in the largest drop. Its not that the patches are bad, its that they changed the game. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Rogue15
it'll pick up again once they announce an expansion.

For me, I don't have the game installed any more And It sounds like I was lucky that I didn't get the patch I think people should still come to the forums even though JK2 is dying Its problems are price, whopping $49.99 still!!!! and the game is very short, I finished it in 3 days!!! It needs more enemys more dying animations.... that reminds me, go to Best Buy and look at a game preveiwer and look up MOH blah blah, what ever the one on PS2 is called. It is so funny with the dying animations You should see it!!!

C'jais
Without getting into the whole patch war again, I'll say that I prefer 1.04 over 1.03 any day, and even over 1.02 as well (from a duelists POV). I don't think it's the patches fault for ruining the community. Most people I've spoken to don't give a damn about the "small" game changes, it's still fundamentally the same game. I purely think people lose interest in it over time. It's a different kinda branche than when JK1 was released - Maybe JK2 just wasn't done well enough? Maybe customers nowadays have a very short attention span because of all the glorious new games coming out? It has managed a good 8 months at least - I find that not so bad after all. leXX
MP has been dead for ages. I think it's because the game has been out for months now so most ppl know what they need to know. I don't think it has anything to do with the new patch at all. btw: 1.04 > 1.03 anyday, unless you liked a$$fighters!

Personally, I've moved on to UT2K3 - you can find me on some german server playing deathball (an excellent mod already out) currently. BTW: I can't seem to get into Hermes, it tells me I haven't got jediplus 4.1 even though I have!
Kstar__2
the one reason why JK2 couldn't beat JK1: it hasn't have the feeling, it hasn't got the large open, dark area's, where you could walk endelesly, jk2 was too linear, and by making it linear, they decreased the replay, once people played the game, the waon't play it again, becouse everything will be the same again. my POV

You could choose different paths of the force, which gave it a very fun RPG element. I dunno what's wrong with me and hermes - now it shows 9999 ping in ASE! StormHammer
I wouldn't say the forums are dying, exactly...they've just slowed down...a lot. Anyway, is it very surprising, considering the exponential growth of quality titles over the years? When JK was released, there simply weren't as many quality titles coming out as there are these days. I've just got UT2K3 and NOLF2, for example, and still waiting to get The Thing, Hitman 2, the soon to reach British shores Age of Mythology...all within a matter of a couple of months. When I got the original JK, the only other game I got around the same time was Quake II. And the next games on the horizon were Unreal and Half-Life. Now I've had to set up a database under Excel, for gawd's sake, just to keep track of all the titles in development that I'm interested in. So is it any surprise that a lot of gamers don't post here as frequently? Mind you, at least I don't have to move 150 threads a day, like around the time of JO's release. C'jais
LOL Stormhammer - you nailed it quite well, mate. I didn't make this thread as a statement that JK2 is dead, merely to see if you noticed the decline in activity as well. But yeah, when the obligatory Xp-pack comes out, it'll be fun and flowers again... I hope. No doubt JK2 is a good game, but so are all the other great games that have been released as well. Jah Warrior
well for me , I reached 1000 posts and thats all i wanted to do. as far as jk2 dying, its already dead man. If the game was right in the first place this wouldnt have happened so quickly. the patches changed the game too much and are still flawed. too many mods has also screwed it up. I pray that promod 3 is good and i do have my doubts about that by reading the threads on it. At least from a duellists point of view it sounds awful, sounds like a bludgeoners dream, but hey lets wait and see. perhaps if artifex stopped continually giving us updates in the forums and actually finished this mod then we could settle down to some games. I fear hermes Place's days are numbered.... anyone like sof2 here?
access_flux
yer but the forum isn't really dieing its just the posers being weeded out, and the veterans wearing out. there is still a following but you guys ought to know the hype right before a game is a lot more then 3 -5 months after.
