what's the point of having a padawan.

The point being to help you during your time here at LF. There are many rules and regs that you have to follow around here. Someone, like Tyrion could teach you in the ways of LF, so that you have an "easier" time posting here. And have more fun!! Isn't that what it is all about??

:D

Someone please explain to me that padawan rule?????

If you have less than a thousand posts but you have been here for over a year...your not allowed to take on a padawan??

But someone who's been here a couple months with a thousand (coughs) posts are allowed to take on padawans??

That seems a little shady.

heres actually what happens. this will clear up all quesitons:

You are first taken in by a teacher and become a padawan to join the academy (with the exception of the first members. that was impossible). once you reach 700 posts, you graduate and become a jedi knight. once you reach 1000, you become a master and a teacher. then you can take your own padawan. and it shouldn't go by how long they are taught, because 700 is 700. besides, you arent supposed to spam, so the post amount and how long it takes is reasonable. however, if someone is at around 400 posts, they should at leat have him stay until about 800 or 900. thats just my suggestion.

The ppl who are chosen to be teachers, reguardless of registration date, are ones who are chosen not only because of the quantity of their posts, but the quality as well.

So it's not like they just take anyone with 1,000 posts.........

Why take someone who has been here since jan. 1997 if they only have 520 posts? What's that post per day count? Less than one per day I'm sure....it shows they don't come here much. You can't teach someone something if you aren't here much. This is my $.02.

:)

Congrats again STTCT!!! :D

I'm ashamed of you people (with the exception of Leemu and Pad).

Becoming a teacher is more than just a registration date. Access_flux, I don't doubt that you come here often, but your post count disagrees. I must say, people who come here, post legit, minimal spam, posts everyday and contribute to this place, complete 1000 posts in 2 months or so, deserve to be a teacher.

In a convo with Leemu, he came up with a good analogy.

For example, it's like letting some old guy join an NBA team that sucks because he's been there longer instead of a very young new guy who is good and just got there.

The point: this time thing instead of posts seems like a bunch of bull to put it frankly. I also believe that spam should be controlled better on LF, so that makes the people who reach 1000 posts really earn their teaching abilities in the LFJA.

So, stop bashing the LFJA. They've got the system figured out perfectly.

Again, my opinion.

I don't get the whole thing. Seems rather contrived to me.

See, I got the registration date and the post count. No one wants to be my padawan.

And who defines legit? What could be considered legit here could be the epitome of spam elsewhere. Half the topics here are pointless anyway.

Oh? And I dont see your little X-Wing forum be Utopia...

Besides, you need to join the Lucasforum Jedi Academy to have a padawan...
