Ikhnaton Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 the rsn "theme" doesn't quite go with the tune of yankee doodle. and i approved no such "theme". and it sucks. and what is the deal with people putting their claims to "fame" in their sigs? like anyone cares who "invented" "u nog" or who started a certain thread. it's attention whorism to the extreme.

If you're so worried about all this why don't you just turn off the sigs and anything else you have a problem with, i know i won't care. we had our sigs turned off for a long time in the past. and if you want this forum cleaned up why don't you act instead of bitching about it in every thread you post in. I know i look like I'm going over the line but I'm dead serious here, I am not joking. I mean turn the forum into a police state if you want, I'll still come and post, a little restriction isn't gonna stop me. I'll go by the rules if you set them and enforce them.

He sets the overall guidelines for these here forums. I can't just make changes willy nilly even if i would like to. I personally don't like sigs, especially long ones, but I can't just turn them off because i don't like them. If it were my site that i was managing, i would, but I'm not the big boss. I think i've been plenty lenient in letting you guys pretty much do whatever you want. I haven't closed a thread in ages, and overall i haven't been as bitchy as i have been in the past. as mentioned in the other thread, you caught me on a bad day. I have no intention of turning this site into a police state. Believe it or not, I am glad that you guys are so easy to administer. I don't have to close a lot of threads or edit a lot of crap. You guys often post stuff that I think is lame or stupid, but I can't really close/edit/ban based on lameness. you guys are having fun, and i'm glad that you are. you're not breaking rules, and that's great by me. All i am trying to do when i make a bitchy post is to give you guys something to think about. I've been to a lot of boards where I have seen a lot of lameness and just overall nauseating internet crap. I guess it's my pride that wants a site i am responsible for to rise above internet banality. what kind of rule do you suggest i enfore? "don't be lame?" i can't enforce a rule like that. basically, i'm putting a lot of faith in you guys (ungrounded, i know) to improve your post quality. I used to be an internet noobie, and i was a major attention whore too. then you realize that inventing catch phrases and whatnot on the internet doesn't mean jack **** in the scheme of things, and you move on to bigger and better things. I guess it isn't something you can teach, it has to be learned by each person. some people don't seem to learn, though, and continue to be attention whores. So basically, what i do is to try and point it out. this forum needs a sober point of view every so often to keep you in check. don't get me wrong, guys/gals. I don't hate or even dislike any of you. you're a great group and i'm grateful that you all have made RSN a popular place to be. but with popularity comes a bit more responsibility. i'm not telling anyone to be serious all the time. quite the opposite. but there is a whole big world out there that is waiting to be brought to the internet and specifically this board, and you guys just cling to the past like there is no tomorrow. All i want is evolution. that's all. peace outside.
