I mean whyyyyyyyyyyyy!?

I'd say I don't ever see ads like that, but someone seems to have removed them already, 'cause I can't see them. But anyway, tons of ads are sexist or sexually suggestive in one way or another. I'm used to them, they don't bother me.

My point is, if LF claims to be a family forum, they should stick to that idea and not use sexist adds for the benefit of other companies, I feel that it breaches the idea of having a "family forum". Personally I have no problem with the adds themselves but due to the fact that LF is considered a family forum, they (being whoever has control over the banner system) could either stop the adds/show different ones or let people know that suggestive adds are shown from time to time (often) and dispensiate the idea of being (purely at least) a family geared forum.

Or maybe they want it like this... to raise public awareness a level or two. o.O

and Wacky, get online you dirty bostard. :p

It all depends on who's gonna pay Lucasforums the most to slather this place with thier ads. Most companies (perhaps unfairly) see this place as a place for gamers, and probably view the average gamer (also perhaps unfairly) as folks who tend to be 1.) mostly young; and 2.) mostly male.

As a result, those companies with ads for products or services that would appeal to that target demographic will be willing to pay the most to have thier ads in a place where they will appear before those who are most likely to view them favorably.

Other companies that offer other products or services that are far less likely to appeal to that group, aren't willing to pay all that much to place thier ads before someone who is highly unlikely to be interested in what they're offering. That's a sure fire way to lose money: you end up paying more on the advertising than what you will ever make in sales. (Internet advertising is slightly different of course... but the general idea, in practice, remains the same.) In fact, people pitching products that no red-blooded young male gamer would ever be interested in would never even consider advertising in this place.

So you end up with the types of ads we have. Lots of stuff that's going to appeal to the young, internet savvy male gamer. Lots of female flesh and exciting online "gaming" oppertunities mixed in with the occasional real vid game product offer.

Lucasforums, in order to keep this place up-to-date and remain free for use, have to have to accept the advertising of those who are willing to pay the most.

We do try to keep these forums and the rest of our network family friendly. We often do not deal directly with the advertisers, so we can't just block a single ad, we have to talk to our ad network. We will contact them and request they remove these ads. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I have 2 problems with this. First of all....

1. Young Gamers - lets look at the 4 ads AB posted.

Wallstreet.com - and an online casino.

How old do you have to be to go on the online casino...18..21 most likely. How many of us in the age group that most of us are...want to go to wallstreet.com?

Its one thing to advertise for online gaming....its another to advertise to the age group of 13-20 Casino Gambeling and porno girls. Online Dating services and Home Morgage loans.

eh nobody has been smart enough to think of that yet....but then there would be ad's all over these boards of skimpy Padme and Princess Leia...which I'm sure none of you would complain. But I bet they would get a lot more "clicks"

Well, they once had a Star wars one for the gaming cards, even if no one click them, it was better than "Click here to make out with a prostitute"
