when little ani said goodbye to shmi in TPM

and when shmi died

and when the ewok dies in ROTJ and the other one is shaking him. that made me sad when i was little.

i would say when vader tells luke he is his father, but the silly faces luke makes is too funny.

ok, i am now offically disturbed.

i can't believe people are choosing scenes from TPM or AOTC as emotional. Was there any actual emotion in them? As for the scene where anakin pulls padme by confessing to mass murder... er. ok. if you say so...

I'd go for the Luke/Vader fight in ROTJ when vader threatens leia and luke looses it. or maybe the trench run in ANH where it all goes quiet when bigs dies.

Pardon me ... I believe this is supposed to be *your opinion of most emotional scene* not *your opportunity to deride someone else's ...*

Personally I like AotC very much - right up there with TESB in my book. And I speak as a 'old time' SW geek - I was 11 when I saw SW in 1977, and it shaped my vision of movies and technology big-time. People give Hayden a rough time - I don't get that. He had to simultaneously bridge Jake Lloyd's innocence, Darth Vader's evil and awesoem prescence and Luke's whininess.

... and that is why I picked Shmi's death scene.

The Vader/Luke scene you mention, along with some of my favorite music from the series, is one that still thrills me!

Most emotional eh? Mine was at the end of episode 2 when Yoda goes "Begun the clone wars have" I did a whopping great fart and I laughed my head off.. But all the star wars nerds turn round and stared at me like this. :indif: Meh.. Stupid nerds! :D

Someone better hold me back... it just wouldn't look good if I killed an Admin.... <.<

Nitro, that is so inappropriate! :p

My fave emotional moments?

ANH: Luke and the binary sunset; When Han comes back and bails Luke out; and the final scene always gives me goosebumps.

ESB: When Han goes after Luke without a second thought; the carbon freeze scene.

RotJ: The final saber fight & Anakin's death.

TPM: Anakin leaving home; Qui-Gon getting kebabbed.

AotC: Shmi's death scene, Padme telling Ani she loves him at the Arena; The wedding.

Bless! I don't care what people say, I love Star Wars, and I love the prequels as much as the OT. Big child that I am! :p

ANH: Luke and the binary sunset

Oh yeah ...

That scene is another one that can easily just go by in our age of video and dvd, but I remember that scene from the theater, with the music and the cinematography ... the opening crawl and star battle told you this was to be something new, but scenes like the binary sunset spoke to the genius of vision of Lucas and John Williams ... at 11, it spoke volumes ...

... I still have ~600MB of star wars music on my 5GB iPod ... only Miles Davis gets more, and John Scofield and Pat Metheny get about the same.

As for the EU... little enough there ;) But, yes, when Kyle kills Jan in the alternate ending of Jedi Knight--that's pretty emotional. And when Emperor Kyle is watching the Holo of his father telling him how proud he is, and trying to hold back the tears and then just crushes the projector... all that is great! Huge mistake not using actors for the cutscenes in Jedi Outcast! Those models can't portray emotion worth Bantha Poodoo!

yup, that's my EU moment!

AotC -

The scene where Anakin is holding his dead mother. The room is very dark, a look of disbelief first crosses his face, mouth hanging slightly open, his eyes wide with grief. Then a change comes across his whole face. His mouth clamps shut with strain, and his eyes are unbelievable, filled with rage. His brows furrow in anger. He strides out of the tent, much like Vader in ANH (aboard the Tantive), and cuts down the Tuskens.

ESB -

Luke enters the carbonation room and sees a figure clothed in black and shadows atop the stairs. Luke slowly climbs the stairs, engulfing himself in the darkness as well (a foreshadowing;) ). The 2 silhouettes face each other, and the hiss of the lightsabers fill the room. Later on, Luke is on the ground, with Vader's lightsaber tip at his throat. Quickly, Luke pulls out a quick series of attacks, and singes Vader's arm. Vader goes crazy, attacking Luke all-out, ending up cutting Lukes hand off. Vader reveals to Luke he is his father.

Amazing scenes.

In SW EP IV when Luke is at the moisture farm after he is told by his uncle that he cannot go to the academy... he walks up to the surface and

looks up into the binary sunset, the music plays as he contemplates life... I replay that part over and over.. the look in his eyes is that of "why am I here"

GOD I love that movie.

Or when yoda dies.
