I just got my driver's permit today. It only was an hour and a half wait at the DMV... Beats what my sister waited for. 3 hours... *shrugs*

I hate that place. But, I got it and didn't miss a question on the test. I am afraid, however, I may need an eye test soon :(

Don't worry, 6 months from now, I'll update this thread and tell you I got my licenese.

Man I remember when....that was 10 years ago for me. :( Hell, the first time I tried to get it, I flunked and I had to wait 4 hours before they'd let me take the test again. I passed the second time though. Have fun with driver's training. :)

Damn, you guys are really different from us. I turned 16 a few weeks ago and I don't have to go for a driver's permit but I can go get my licence whenever I want, well provided I pass the test. And it's only written, no eye test.

Sweet, I love this place. :D

Anyway, what's your driver's permit allow you?

Drive with someone 21 or older in the front seat. I could have gotten it beginning of second semester, but could care less about driving. Where do I have to go? I have no job, and my friends are in walking distance.

But now that I have it, I wanna drive... Better sign up for Behind the Wheel Monday.

Here's how it lays out. I'm 16. I can go write a test and if I pass I get my licence. I have to have someone with 4 years driving experience in the car with me, I can't drive after a certain time, and I can't have any alcohol in my blood. After 12 months I can go get an upgraded licence where I drive by myself with only like 2 hours in the morning I can't drive.

Or I can take a driver's ed course. I get cheaper insurance, and it only takes 8 months for me to get my upgraded licence.

Now, um, what's a driver's permit allow? I still don't know that part.

ahhhh driving. i was in the middle of my lessons (i had 3 days before the next scheduled one) when i was nearly killed in a high speed/light pole car crash. then when i was recovered (mostly) i was in a car on car accident.

so drive safe, life flashing before your eyes may sound cool but its not. the speed limits are up there for a reason so go with the flow of traffic when you must but if you're alone on the road dont do anything stupid.

I put my life on the line everyday when my sister drives me to school going 40 in her Grand Am.

*shudders*

I plan on not speeding or tailgating, the two things my older sisters can not break a habit of doing.

My oldest sister has gotten into an accident, whci was not her fault. My other sister has gotten 2 speeding tickets. How many more until her license is revoked? 1? Any Chicago-land Swampies might know the answer.
