Tomb Raider - the Angel of Darkness

Alright, so who is going to get the latest Tomb Raider game? This is designed for anyone with a PlayStation2, by the way.

Oh, and this is also not for people who will get the game just to stare at Lara Croft's hotpant-clad arse. Apparently, the gameplay is quite good.

It's looks good but i dont know if i should get it because Tomb Raider games are becoming repeitive and you do the same things but each game has a different storyline, im just not certain if it would be a waist of money or not,

If you can convince me then i'll buy it :)

Don't talk mince, it's getting released for the PC, infact it's coming out 2 days earlier for the PC supposedly with extra features and better graphics.

I want to get it, but my parents I think will not like it.

Why?

In Splinter Cell you use other humans as meat shields. You strangle other humans. You aim for the head, as it's more lethal.

In Tomb Raider, on the other hand, you run around in underground cave complexes, shooting up pixelated tigers, wolves and bears* with unlimited-ammo pistols.

Which is more gritty?

*Note: My opinion might be outdated as I quite haven't followed the franchise's latest installments.

I used to have the first three Tomb Raider games for the PC...but I didn't even complete the first one. Lack of mouse support in-game was a pretty big oversight - I hated having to use the keyboard for everything. So I just got rid of them all. Few console to PC titles ever get the controls and interface right...

Angel Of Darkness looks nice in the graphics department, but I don't expect anything really innovative in the gameplay department. The whole 'Lara on the run' premise is one of the oldest movie cliches...

I'll try a demo of it before really judging it...but I think it's highly unlikely that I'll get it. There are better third-person games out there made for PC...like JO...and soon JA...

Alright, so I didn't know 'The Angel Of Darkness' was coming out for the PC, but then I have a PlayStation2 which is ultimately better than any complicated PC techno-babble, making sure you have the right graphics card or whatever. I have no games for my PC at all.

Anyway, 'The Angle Of Darkness' has been delayed thousands of times because the design team at Core/Eidos have been too busy creating a killer game. This won't be the same repetative gameplay featured in the other 'Tomb Raider' games, but darker, more challenging, scary and gritty gameplay. You even get to control a new character, Kurt, moving away from the femenine charms of Lara and getting down to some hand-to-hand combat. Or so I've heard. As for the new movie, I'm expecting it to be amazing... like the first one.

Oh, and for the record the XBox is the WORST games console in the universe. They only got 'MGS2 - Substance' because they saw the success of the game on the PS2 and desperately needed something to make people interested in their terrible brick of a console.

I don't know about that. As someone who owns both PS2 and XBox, I can say that most games that play on both tend to look better on the XBox. The new Controller S is much smaller and while in most cases I do prefer the PS2 controller, somedays the XBox controller just does better.

The graphics are definitely starting to get dated on the PS2. And besides, if XBox continues to outsell the Gamecube in most markets, a #2 spot is still pretty respectable. Just try to get a game like KOTOR to run on a PS2...

And on an unrelated note... if you have no PC games at all, what are you doing on the forums for a PC game?

Well, one improvement I know about is that they're finally getting rid of that abrasive grid system. All your movement is in real time! WHOOPEE! :D

Of course, that doesn't mean a whole lot to me, since I never played any of the Tomb Raider games. However, Angel of Darkness looks pretty good...

Warning!!!

According to gamespots "hands on" this game looks very rushed... they list a whole load of problems with just the first level or two.... then they recommend you don't buy it until you have seen the full review...

Hopefully it gets better later on, but it does sound like it was rushed out. And if thats the case then the pc or x-box version might be the one to get, as at least then they might be able to patch it...

heh heh.... thats one way to look at it... ususally when a game is delayed thousands of times it means that they are trying to fix all the problems... :D

I have to say im not really that bothered either way.... i enjoyed all the previous ones, but not so much that i will be rushing out to buy it.... maybe on buddget or ebay...

I don't know, but I think it has something to do with "Angel of Darkness" for some reason. They did't even let my brother get

M:TW because of the title. They think any other game that does not have the title of "Jump Start" is all about "killing" or something.

Well, I've seen the commercial a few times, and I've already spotted one very evident improvement.

The boob physics have been vastly improved!

*Bouncy bouncy bouncy*

Wait... did I just say that out loud? :snear:

Oh crap. Eh heh... :animelol:

This is why the game gets made fun of so much...nothing like a stereotype clinging to a cliche...

well, all the reviews say the same: good story, good graphics, controls suck, combat sucks, unfinished, not really at all revolutionary, just like the last ones...

so i think i will avoid it...

...except Maxim, who gave it five out of five, but i think he was hasing that on the bouncy factor...:D
