I chugged every carbonated beverage I could find in the studio, but I'm going to have to give my belching a B-. The humdinger I was shooting for eluded me š7 points

The more the Cursed soundtrack comes out in these threads (thanks by the way, I appeciate it), the more I feel the urge to "remaster" it and give it a new coat of polish š3 points

I was watching an Escape from Monkey Island video on YouTube recently, and not only were there people saying EMI is their favourite Monkey Island, the conversation somehow turned to Stanās music and someone said the original gameās Stan theme was their favourite in the entire series. As you can imagineā¦ I heartily agreed.3 points

Yes, Stanās theme āCursedā style really does sound like it belongs. Great work by @AndywinXp !2 points

Yeah, he knows Herman along with your three crewmates! If you let them talk long enough, someone other than you will invite Bob back to MĆŖlĆ©e. If you don't say anything for the Herman version, I THINK Herman and Bob start to leave by themselves until Guybrush automatically says something.2 points

Morgan LeFlay can strictly speaking be considered a henchperson of the Marquis, so Morgan LeFlay it is.2 points

Itās worth noting the floppy and CD VGA releases are different. For example, some art was slightly recoloured for the CD version, and as you noted the CD version also saw the removal of the āsprites are an appropriate brightness specific to the sceneā tech. Not sure about an exhaustive list. I know weāve observed many things over many threads here.2 points

I just thought about this Plaido Quote: 'Why don't you go do something useful now...like inhale a puffer-fish. Okay, babe?' So that's what Ron meant when he said Curse was canon!2 points

Oof, I forgot what a bad hand the Han/Leia relationship was dealt in the sequels. Hmmm. I can only imagine what an āunpopular opinionsā thread about Star Wars would look like. šµāš« I think the way Ron abandoned the MI3a dream in favour of a sequel that honours the previous games is an admirable act of generosity and open-heartedness. It makes this franchise feel far healthier (and more fun) than a āsplintered timeline/letās return to 1994ā approach would have been. Iām glad that heās uniting rather dividing. I donāt really want to see him split Guybrush and Elaine, and I hope he gives us some depth to their relationship. Along those lines, my unpopular opinion is that I think I would like to see Ahern & Ackley take a stab at MI7 if it ever gets made. History has been kind to Curse, and I would like to see what their approach to the genre would be after decades designing stuff for the Disney theme parks š2 points

That's the Men of Low Moral Fiber, isn't it? The Pirate Leaders don't appear in MI2 and one of the Low Moral Fiber men is named Frank. ("Frank! Make him quit it!") I don't think the pirate leaders have canonical names yet.1 point

What with the original Important-Looking Pirates confirmed to return, I wonder if we'll finally learn their names? Thinking about it, how odd that would feel after thirty years!1 point

The ReMI website says that "Hip, young pirate leaders led by Captain Madison have shuffled the old guard from power," but it doesn't actually identify which character that is.1 point

I must say, although I somewhat get your dislike for that musical cue, I do like its rendition in the "Cursed" edition of the Secret of Monkey Island soundtrack:1 point

In the post two days ago you did literally mention that ScummVM fixed certain bugs. One of my reasons for this post was to get more information on those bugs specifically. Thank you for linking them! Growing up, I did notice the clock tower would "skip" its second line if you left the room. Very interesting. Have you physically danced to it while haggling? It's good energy. Unless Return has Stan selling us another ship or something, I'm going to always associate his first theme with "make a major purchase from me" Stan, as opposed to the "do something unto me" version in the other games. The Go Tell Aunt Rhodie version is fine. And it's pretty darn appropriate when Stan is in his death-related ventures for Revenge and Curse.1 point

It's not the VGA version per se, it's the VGA CD version. It introduced the godawful cacophony that is Stan's song (my personal take, obviously), and several known bugs that ScummVM has since fixed. (I did literally explain this to you in this post, two days ago... š¤) I remember there was a website that listed every change, but generally speaking the VGA floppy (and Amiga) versions are fine. It's only really the CD version that had issues. (And guess which version they based the Special Edition on? š š¤¦āāļøš„) If you want to read more about the bugs in the CD version, this post has explicit details on some of them:1 point

No love for big-boned and thin-guy from CMI? They carefully resurrected LeChuck by meticulously tossing his hot voodoo shoes into the ships storage, along with a wished-for barrel of grog and a chicken. That's some powerful magic.1 point

I do believe you can root beer him, too, so RIP in one of the multiverses.1 point

Well, I freaking love Hardtack, but I didn't consider him a henchman! I replayed Siege of Spinner Cay recently. It's worth seeing the conversation when you try to run the blockade with Elaine distracting one side, but without LeChuck distracting Hardtack. The whole "why haven't you fired at me yet?" conversation is one of my favorites in the saga. I'm glad Hardtack seemed okay when we last left him and would hire him as ship's cook anytime.1 point

My vote is Hardtack from Tales. He smelled good and looks great in a wig.1 point

Strangely, you're not the first person I've heard to say that. I think Ron made a big mistake making an "easy" and "hard" mode. (Same with Thimbleweed Park.) Curse's "Normal" and "Hard" was perfect.1 point

If you ever decide to give KOTOR a chance (now on Switch), try as a Scoundrel named Guybrush, and play like him. Then it's The Largo Embargo, The Three Trials, Four Map Pieces, and Guybrush Kicks Butt.1 point

After a recent playthrough, I have developed the wildly unpopular opinion that If they included the spitting contest and the bone song, the Monkey Island 2 lite version would be a better than the regular.1 point

Really enjoying the details in this one by the way. Each time I look at it I notice a new little animation detail, either in the foreground, background or characters. I like all the little blinking eyes, moving fish, and I like the little subtle expressions on the pirates. Just real small eye movements but it really sells the thing for me.1 point

So the plot of Return is that Guybrush has a diminished lung capacity from drinking too much grog and he can't even win a belching contest let alone hold his breath for three minutes. His sole superpower is GONE and we still have a game. Take that, Marvel! By the way, I had this scene on repeat in the background now for 15 minutes. Something is wrong with me. Somehow I have the feeling that the solution to this puzzle is the longest belch in history, and that @Dmnkly intends to tell us that he got it right on the first take. š¤1 point
