It's better to have your dog run away than to have to actually see it die

Yes that is true but it still sux either way when my dog ran away I was heart broken but I still had one dog that I loved very much at my dads.

my first dog died a few years back around christmas...that really sucked, but she was old (died of kidney failure), we got the yellow lab like a month afterward...and...he...dug..up the dead dog's grave. fortunately, we had dead dog buried in a big tin box...which got dug up like 3 times by the lab.

Good lord, why don't you just bury the poor dog some other place, or fence her in or something, sheesh

your dog looks very nice indeed. I have a cat but she is an indoor cat. cities are so big and people so well not nice these days, I hope it works out for you. Last year I opened my condo door and a stray cat was sitting there, I took her in, and went door to door and psoted flyers, and I thought the owners were never going to come for this cat, but they finally did and were so glad to have Willie back. My cat hated the intrusion though. It's bad to lose a pet, especially this time of year. I do hope there is a Sant Claus STTC. and you get your little doggie back.

we have found several dogs in my time, One dog we went walking around with it in hope that they would see us and sure enough they were out on a pickup lookin around. They were so happy when they saw him. Another time somebody threw their dog out of ther truck window and drove off so we took it in and nursed it back to health but i think it ran away again, another time, recently, my friend down the street cought a dog and saw a sign for him and called up. She was just about to cry when she saw Max. I hope these are cheering you up and I hope you find Toby again :(

Good news!!!!!!

My dog came home!!!!!

I couldn't believe it. I was a mess all weekend. I went to the shelters and my husband went and searched other shelters. I was hysterical (well not hysterical, but very sad). As I was coming home from checking the shelter after filling out some "lost" dog paperwork and checking the "DEAD" book. (god, that's a horrible thing). My husband called and said that he was home - in the backyard!

He wasn't dirty or hurt or anything. I don't know where he was. Me, my parents, and my husband searched that complex top to bottom. I have no idea where he was. Thanks guys!

I'm sorry to hear about everyone else's dogs as well.

it sucks when your dog dies, but it is hard when they run away because you don't know where they are. They could be running in the street (and I've seen people AIM for dogs) or he could have been captured by abusive people or he could have been re-adopted to a loving family. You never know. And thats what hurts.

Yay..I'm so happy!

Thats the best news I heard all day. I am so happy for you, I had a dog for many years, her name was Sammy, part lab, part cocker spaniel. We basically grew up together, that dog was always with me, and was great with the neighbor kids as well. Very popular. After I joined the Navy in '95, about a year after that, I called home, and would ask to speak to "Sammy". One day, my tearful mother broke the news to me, that Sammy had been put to sleep two weeks earlier, first I was mad, but then I understood, that she was suffering, I am only sorry I did not get the chance to say goodbye, but she had a good life, and was loved by many, many people, and then there was the neighbors. Sammy was very smart for a dog, and I vowed that when I get a house, I will get another Lab, and preferably a girl Lab, because they have the best temperment. :) That day is just around the corner for me now. :)
