  1. 1. What view mode do you choose?

    • First Person

    • Third Person
      17
    • Change For Different Vehicles (ie third for fighter, first for on foot)

I did pay 3rd which is very unusual for me but seems to suit the console style of the game.

I'm going to change back now though. I just discovered that in 3rd your gun is lower so you can't shoot over many of the objects placed for cover. eg. the boxes by the entrance to the hangar in Hoth. In 1st you can hide behind them and shoot out, in 3rd your bolts just hit the side of the box. Aaargh! Dumb!

1st normally, but 3rd for vehicles (except the speeder bike).

Like shrinker said, i have noticed those problems. In 3rd person that problem is ship dependant. For example there is 1 clone ship where playing in 3rd person really screws up the targeting & location of the ship.

In ships I usually take 3th person, but sometimes switch to 1st for reasons meantioned by previous posters.

For infantry, I usually pick 1th person if I need to concentrate on kliing as muhc enemies as fast as possible, mainly cause 1th person is easier aiming for me. However, if I need to watch my surroundings as well, I pick 3th (take for example the situation were you are busy converting an enemies control point and enemies are likely to spawn all around you.)

I was wondering which kind of view most players were using ?

Or a least which one is the best for playing SWBF.

For me :

  • 1st person view offers better accuracy than in 3rd person (especially with wookiees & droidekas -bug ?-)
  • 1st person view gives a better idea of whenever you're in cover or not
  • 3rd person view gives a wider vision of the battelfield, making it easier to evade grenades for example... (which is the very strong point about it...)
  • 3rd person view is VERY necessary for controlling vehicules and ships...
  • 3rd person view allows you to watch how cool you're character is fighting :D

I can't make a real choice between both, it seems I'm going to switch often during the game.

What do YOU think about this ? Which is the "best" ? How do you play ?

With vehicles, 3rd person, no question. On foot, I'm always in 1st person though. In 3rd, it's harder to shoot, and since you are in the wya, you can't see somethings that are rihgt in front of you. The petty amount of extra visibility doesn't outweigh the disadvantages, IMO. I've never ever had a problem avoiding grenades in 1st person. Manuevers in combat seem easier in 1st.

3rd I will sometimes use for the Dark trooper and Jet trooper, because precision jumping is more important for them. But in general, I always use 1st.

In 3rd person your gun is lower so if you're standing behind a low obstacle you might not be able to shoot over it, while somebody in 1st person will.
No, your weapon placement is the same no matter what perspective you are in. The placement on the vehicles I think is a general "bug"...makes some vehicles useless in non-flat situations.

1st Person view for infantry purposes and out of vehicles. 3rd person for when in vehicles.

I was talking about infantry not vehicles.

  • 2 weeks later...

I almost always play in 1st-person - it's more fun for me. The only sort of exception is the AT-ST, and that's only because the view out the window is so horrible that you can't really drive the thing otherwise. I wish they would fix that so you could see out more of the window. As it is now, it' like you're standing as far back as possible from the window, which is silly.

i use first on foot except as a sniper, where your close range view shouldnt matter as much as what is going on around you, and it also automatically goes to scope instead of over-the shoulder. in vehicles i use third person because it lets me see where the rest of the vehicle is, but in some cases (ex: gunship on geonosis) you need to switch to first person because you cant hit anything otherwise.

Too tell the truth, I probably use 1st more on the ground, and 3rd more for vehicles. However, I switch off as needed, like to see around a corner or check my back, or to get a better angle on my surroundings.

For the larger vehicles though, using 1st person is something I'm more inclined to do (like the AT-AT).

You don't know how many times I've been shooting down troops left and right, only to have a bot kill me by ramming his blaster into the back of my head.

Yes, I know you can check radar to see where the guys are, but I get distracted. ; )

Well, I've switched my position on first person when on foot, I'm more inclined to go third person now, especially when crouching behind a wall or something, popping up to fire on incomming soldiers. :)

Or simply hiding from an AT-ST. :D

I don't know, I sorta feel like cheating, especially when I'm looking past a corner of a hall or something. :p
