RevanA4
Unfortunately most of the world thinks of Budweiser when they think of American beer. And I would certainly agree with you. However here in the northwest U.S. there is abundance of microbreweries (and, for stingerhs, independent coffee roasters). Prime if you come by Oregon, I'll buy you a pint of some Shakespeare Stout in an effort to mend the poor reputation of USA beers. wisconsin has a bunch also though most I'd assume take after german beer since wisconsin has a large german population and most people don't know that about wisconsin because everbody LOVES our cheese:D off topic but does any place other than wisconsin make cheese because we get out of staters that come here and buy out the stores supply of cheese
warchild75
I started this post because of the one raging over that nasty drink known as coffee. I know that beer causes a similar discussion. What is your opinion about beer? Do you hate it, like it, or consider yourself a connoisseur? Personally, I consider myself a connoisseur. Dark beers are best. The best is undoubtedly Guinness Extra Stout! Opinions? Give me any kind of lager such as stella artois or budweiser but i went to ireland recently and the guiness there is devine had a couple of pints of it at thetop of the guiness museum.yum. Pad
German and Belgian beer are the best. This man speaks the truth! Although I don´t really think German beer is that good but it´s far better than beer I´ve had in other countries.
Bob Lion54
Something about Fosters makes me feel manly when I drink it. I think I am the victim of a marketing ploy! I'm not sure why my can had a Canadian flag on it though.....
Hallucination
Does anyone here know the internation rules of beer? 1)every country has the best beer in the world (in their opinion) and 2) american beer is the worst beer in the world
Patomon5
off topic but does any place other than wisconsin make cheese because we get out of staters that come here and buy out the stores supply of cheese Of course, CheeseHead , California is making a strong run for the Wisconsin cheese monolopy. That's why the cows in Wisconsin are trying to move west. http://www.realcaliforniacheese.com/ You had mentioned wine drinking,Actually the Sonoma-Napa valley in California has made some of the most award winning wines in the world, and Yes some are even better than than the wines from France. @MdKnightR The reason I stopped drinking Guiness is the fullness effect. I generally drink 3-4 pints of said beverage (beer) Monday-Friday along with 2-3 shots of Jeigermiester, I dont' drink on Saturday night, and on Sundays occasionally. Guiness, although excellent, would curb my appetite, and I would usually skip dinner, leading to hardtimes the next morning from hunger pains. Hate to sound like a commercial but Bud lite on the other hand is indeed just less filling and only $3.50 a pint,Guiness is $5.00. Both are served on tap at the saloon I go to. That's why the cows in Wisconsin are trying to move west. California has just about everything. I know that they produce more peaches than Georgia, but Georgia is still called the Peach State. I am sure Wisconsin will soon be in the same boat.

That is as good a reason as any I guess. However, after drinking Guinness, everything started tasting like water. And I would rather pay $5 for beer than $3.50 for water any day. I don't have the problem with that "fullness effect" as you put it. I can usually drink close to a six-pack of Extra Stout and eat pizza with my friends while watching a game or movie at home. Like anything, once you change over to something else, eventually over time your body becomes adjusted to the new experience. Just like removing or lowering salt intake if you suffer from high blood pressure. Using Miracle Whip instead of real Mayonaise if you suffer from High Cholesterol. Our bodies are very adaptive when changes must be made for health reasons. Mainly our sense of taste and smell are the ones to change. Such as the poor guys that work in sanitation, after 2 or 3 months the smell that would make any one of us sick, is easily handled by those guys. Back on topic: I do , every once in a while, have a Guiness only night. It's the human condition, a little variety is the spice life. and I dont mean Melange(spice). MdKnightR
I didn't like beer at all when I was younger, but then I discovered Guinness. American beers were my problem. Brands like Miller, Pabst, Coors, Milwaukee's Best (beast), and Budweiser were not easy on my palette or my stomach. I didn't start liking beer until about my 2nd or 3rd year in college when some of my buddies introduced me to the imports.

Also, I saw in a beer documentary the Czech Budweiser. It's supposed to be the original Budweiser that was ripped-off and turned into piss. I heard from other people that it actually tastes pretty good

It's great to add to homemade chili or boil hot dogs in (when you don't have access to a grill). At least there's some uses for the 'icky' beers.. hehehe
