Title: Flash Gordon

Genre: 3rd Person Action/ Adventure

Rating: T

System(s): Next Gen Consoles, PC

Why this could be a great video game: Star Wars is based off of Flash Gordon in more ways than one. Sure, it's got the title scroll and is done in 'episodes,' but the characters and worlds are almost ripped right out of the original serials starring Buster Crabbe as well. You'd get a lot of potential action involving 'ray guns,' fist fights, and sword play. Flying rocket ships or hover sleds would mix up the gameplay a bit. A colorful cast of possible playable characters and a variety of villains to encounter including both man and beast would add variety to the action. And as I said, the worlds of Star Wars all thrown into one game. A big palace swarming with stormtroopers (Death Star), an underwater city run by the shark men (Otoh Gunga), a sky palace far above the ground (Cloud City), a barren wasteland where giant Iguanas threaten any travellers (Jundland Wastes and the Krayt Dragons). And that's just from one of the three Flash Gordon serials. Why not mix it up and add all the cool things into one game? I saw the second one ages ago and just remember a cave full of clay people hidden within the walls (Geonosis). I'm sure there are plenty of other things to be done from that one and the third serial which I've never seen.

Why it would probably never work: How many of you have actually heard of Flash Gordon outside of behind the scenes stuff with George Lucas (check my avatar if you haven't)? Those of you who have, how many of you immediately think of that horrid movie with Queen doing the music from 1980? Those of you who don't, would you really be interested in something based off a series that is a joke to today's standards? And those of you who would be interested, have you ever played Planet of the Apes? I'd fear the same results with something like this. :(

Post your dream games and why you think they'd work but why no one would probably ever make them. I've got plenty more, but I'll save them for later if this topic takes off.

Commander Keen: The Universe is Toast (#7; final chapter in series)

The unfortunate conclusion to the ancient but awesome series didn't make it; the company shut down before it could get out, and all we're left with is a heart-wrenching disclaimer at the end of 6 and a crappy gameboy spin-off. *sob*

Oddly enough, Keen 7 was put off because games like Wolfenstein 3D, Quake, and Doom. Just goes to show how old the franchise is.

An anything goes sandbox type game with an entire, very detailed city. It wouldn't be based soley around violence like gta, but you could do that if you wanted to. You would have powers, specifically flying and acrobatic powers. I picture the detail of the city to be enough to where it looks like a real city, and you can go in all the buildings and houses. I also want the city to be very big, with very good graphics of course. I also want player-created cities and other content. Fully destructable environments would also be a key feature. I've thought of practical ways of doing all of this. It would be a single player, and online multiplayer capable. Something i've been dreaming about making for quite awhile now.

Title: Batman - The Animated Series

Genre: 3rd Person, Action/Adventure, Sandbox

Rating: T

Cell shaded Batman game set in a snadbox gotham city. Kind of like Ultimate spiderman - but:

- Rather than one storyline it has numerous "episodes". Sets of linear events that can be triggered either randomly or by player actions. Several of these episodes might even be triggered at once.

- Deeper gameplay - actually have to outwit enemies, foil their schemes and solve the mysteries (proper detective stuff). Talk to NPCs, find and analyse clues, solve riddles etc..

- Events will occur whether you are there to see them or not. So if you fail to sopt a clue to a robbery, or don't pick up on a scheme, it will occur anyway (rather than waitig for you like events do in spiderman). This might mean instead of preventing a crime, or interrupting it you might be left cleaning up the aftermath... or even miss it entirely and only hear about it on the news.

- Vehicles you can research, implement and improve - Batmobile (the awesome animated version) with all its gadgets and things you can use. Batjet.

- Batcave with all its equipment, plus various suit options you can equip.

- Those flying zeppelins with their search lights.

Title: Space Hulk - Vengance

Genre: First person, tactical, team based shooter/strategy.

Rating: M

Remake of the Excellent (in places) Space Hulk - Vengance of the Blood Angels game. For those that haven't played it it was a doom era sprite based corridor shooter.. which had one of the best tactical systems ever (since it was based off the board game) but was a bit let down in terms of presentation, bugs and some frustrating gameplay niggles. But its atmosphere was unmatched.

Rather than running around at high speed you are in lumbering powered armour moving at a snail's pace through abandoned space-ship corridors while being assaulted on all sides by infinately respawing, fast, terrifying genestealers (think Aliens).

This means you have to work with your team to tactically cover all fire corridors as you advance through the ship.

You start off controlling only your trooper, and being given explicit orders of exactly where to advance to and what directions to cover. But soon you get promoted and be able to switch to the tactical interface to order the other marines around.. even jump into them and control them.

Whack this on the Doom3 engine (which would work fantastically for this kind of game). Add in more variation in terms of weapon choices (and marine chapter choices that provide bonuses), equipment (powerfield generators to block corridors etc.. and enemies. Add a small amount of 3d verticality to the levels (but not too much) and make the firing/weapon jamming and especially close combat more predictable and it would rock.

Keep the awesome team mates (that provided great radio chatter and very helpful advice on where enemies where coming from). Also keep the great "command time" mechanic where you can pause time for a certain amount of time to view the transparent tactical map and give orders, but it depletes over time and if it runs out then time restarts. It slowly refills over time too. And the more rank you have the more command time you get. Why exactly this awesome system hasn't been incorporated into every RTS going (for single player at least) i don't know.

Add in great multiplayer coop play, the option to play as the aliens, and a mission/level editor and it would rock.

I'd love to see a perfectly correct version of SWBF II (no continuity errors) with every vehicle, every story, every faction, every army, and every planet.

I'd also like a Star Wars: Imperial Commando game. It could start off at Order 66. Then, the former Republic Clone Commandos get repainted armor (black). These new Imperial Clone Commandos go on very intense missions and kill Rebels and fugitive Jedi, as well as any other criminals like gangsters, smugglers, or terrorists. Eventually, the armor would be replaced with new armor, and the soldiers would be renamed to Imperial Storm Commandos. This game would own. It should be like SWRC, but with TONS of vehicles, soldiers, weapons, planets, characters, features, and a longer story.

Title: The Adventures of Colonel Sanders

Genre: 3rd Person, Action/Adventure,

Rating: E+10

This game would never sell probably because it's a horrible idea but also Pam Anderson would have a fit. :/

Col. Sanders and his ramage on killing chickens? I think a A rating here buster!

And hey fellow Seattle-thingy-guy...

I still want them to finish the story to Xwing alliance... :( :( :(

And I've always wanted a decent Elite meets Xwing space combat game. Where you play a han solo type, get to buy and upgrade your ship and take varions missions, and side with various factions throughout the entire SW saga. Ideally where you can seamlessly switch between the cockit view and walking around the inside of your ship.

Where you can hire droids and other NPC crew and assign them to various roles... where when your hyperdirve gets blown you actually have to leave your seat, run through the breaking ship and try and fix it by hand.

Wont get made because: no one is making space sims anymore.

PS/ oh, and freespace 3 would be nice.
