Char Ell
Saw this article on MSNBC - E3 bans scantily clad 'booth babes' I guess this is the E3 powers-that-be deciding they don't want to be too much associated with the GTA:San Andreas side of the gaming world. While this may tone down the amount of exposed skin at E3 I'm thinking a lot of hard core gaming guys will be sorely disappointed...

FiEND_138
Just read about this over at the OE boards, & I'm going to have to agree with Sawyers thoughts... is that E3 has never been intended as a consumer show. It's for press, publishers, developers, and retailers -- which is why the E3 folks actively try to restrict attendance. When I have difficulty navigating the floor because a string of obviously not-industry people are waiting to have their picture taken with a Lara Croft model, I want to throw grenades under them. http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=39608&st=45 It doesn't really matter to me. stingerhs
well, that's one less distraction removed from E3. IMHO, i'd rather have the publishers and developers focus their monetary prowess on game development and proper QA instead of the armies of booth babes to begin with. lukeiamyourdad
If I could go to E3, I guess I would miss them. Since I can't, I don't care. Besides, it's their money. If they want to spend it into booth babes, more power to them. Booth babes don't sell more games though.
El Sitherino
I remember the booth babe pictures over at IGN last year. I gotta say, I remember hotter half-naked chicks down at the methadone clinic.
lukeiamyourdad
I have to agree with you there. They seem to thing that since gamers have apparently never seen any female in their whole lives they can just hire anyone.
El Sitherino
Indeed, a skank having double d's doesn't make one hot. It's all about carriage.

Tysyacha
I say...more power to E3. Tell me: Would E3 have a bunch of scantily clad "booth beefcakes" wearing Speedos and thongs? Number one, obviously not, because most gamers in real life are male. Number two, because males would never stand for being exploited and gawked at in such a manner after all. Emperor Devon
Although I don't go to the E3 events, they're for video games, not scantily clad women. That should cut back on the number of people who go to E3 just to stare at the models, and who have no interest in gaming.
El Sitherino
Number two, because males would never stand for being exploited and gawked at in such a manner after all. I respectfully disagree. I for one have no issue with being looked upon as an object of sexual desire.
Tysyacha
*blush* Point taken. Although...would you want to be seen in a thong at E3? XD
The Source
Since when did gamming become a corporate agenda? Why would a male reject the female gender? Why would a female reject the male gender? Oh, they must have hired those people. Hehehe...

lukeiamyourdad
Although...would you want to be seen in a thong at E3? XD It could depend on the amount of money he'll get, but I think sithy would do it for free anyway XD
El Sitherino
I dunno, I'm not really a fan of thongs. I prefer full on nudity, it's all about comfort.
Char Ell
I'm kind of surprised at how many of the guys have indicated they prefer substance over sex at E3. Surprised but impressed. I remember the booth babe pictures over at IGN last year. I gotta say, I remember hotter half-naked chicks down at the methadone clinic. Hey, well you keep at it, IS. FWIW, you'll know you can stop going to the methadone clinic when you realize those hot half-naked chicks you were looking at weren't so hot after all... Astrotoy7
lolz.booth babes are the only reason I went to the equivalent expo down here, who cares about gaming, seriously Naturally bronzed Aussie booth babes > fugly North American/UK booth babes. In fact, only in Venezuela will you find hotter booth babes I do think though in the interests of equality they should keep the bikini booth babes and have an equal number of speedo-clad booth hunks. Actually, Ive heard that the Lucasarts booth will all be wearing Chainmail cod pieces as well with GLs face on them: lolz@sithy. what exactly were you doing at the meth clinic ? We have one at one of my worksites....as a result we also have a full time 7 foot/150kg Samoan security guard. Shady characters them meth pplz are mtfbwya
Aash Li
I dunno... it just seems out of place to have booth babes in computer game shows like that. You expect them in car shows, but gaming shows? In Japan I would expect booth babes in computer shows since they are more likely to have those than car shows. XD Yeah theres a horniness-killer for you... a pic of Lucas on your cod-piece/bikini. hehe

Lots of concept stuff that is not always seen putside of JP = awesomez mtfbwya
Ztalker
It's quit sad actually...what can you proof with hiring booth-babes? It insults the company that made the game, and makes them look like they can't sell the game without the women. Also, it's sad for all the visiting gamers. Aprox. 99% hasn't seen a female for years, (Lucasbaords is the 1% left )has a skin whiter then paper, and has 'l33t' as native speech. They will stare at the girls like...a WoW player to an Epic item. It makes them look sad (wich they are), and insult the girls. Also, it distracts them from why they are on the Expo: Play games. In short terms: 1) Publishers draw all the attention to the booth-babes, instead of their game 2) Gamers will fall into strange addict-behaviour I totally agree. They should just have some stands to play games on, and people next to it for explaining certain stuff, like it was meant to be.
Sabretooth
Now we're missing half the fun. But anyways, I honestly don't see how they were connected to gaming, so well, I'll stay neutral.

Prime
It's quit sad actually...what can you proof with hiring booth-babes?That playing their game will get them laid by below average looking women. It insults the company that made the game, and makes them look like they can't sell the game without the women. Which in most cases is true. No doubt they will be emoting up a storm. Also, it distracts them from why they are on the Expo: Play games.Unless they went there for the booth babes...
