stingerhs
...wants to ban the Grand Theft Auto series. to be completely honest, i really don't know what to say...
Hallucination
I don't know what to say either. I can't believe hookers are actually coming out to get a video game banned. What kind of world do we live in? Edit: And how about the parents stop their kids from playing these games, so responsible adults can play the game, and no one gets hurt? Prime
Well, I know I have the urge to go out and beat prostitues after playing. I see no way to seperate a game from real life...
Bob Lion54
Well, I know I have the urge to go out and beat prostitues after playing. I see no way to seperate a game from real life... Yea, like after I play Kotor. One time, I started using the Force on random people because I thought they were Dark Jedi. Theres just no way to seperate games and real life. You're right. CapNColostomy
I read something about this yesterday. My first thought was "maybe they should worry about stopping more important things in their lives, such as sucking **** for a living."
igyman
I'm with you on that one! And quite frankly, anyone who tries to blame a videogame for the existence of idiots IS one.
Vladimir-Vlada
...Uh... Truthfully, their reason for doing it is a bit unsetteling and a bit disturbing. To make a person unite reality and a video game, you would need to make him play the game for hours. Not to mention that the person has to find it all impressive, great to his measures, addicting in his opinion and, most importantly, feeling like that he is in the game. To accomodate all this, you need to really go over the edge with playing. And when you do it, it is doubtful that you would go and beat or kill the person that was in that game. I know of several cases that involved this, of people thinking that they are in that video game, but never to a degree where a person actually shoots someone. In my opinion, they can ban it if they want to. It's still just a video game.
jedi3112
Yea, like after I play Kotor. One time, I started using the Force on random people because I thought they were Dark Jedi. Theres just no way to seperate games and real life. You're right. Happens to me as well, I accidently Force Choked a police officer because he wanted to give me a speeding ticket, so I though he has sworn allegiance to Malak and not to me Darth Revan, True Dark Lord of the Sith. I also generally use a lightsaber at random people, and search their corpses for credits. Generally I only find euros.
Snafu7
My first thought was "maybe they should worry about stopping more important things in their lives, such as sucking **** for a living." Agree And how about the parents stop their kids from playing these games, so responsible adults can play the game, and no one gets hurt? Agree, instead of just trying to ban the game, just do a better job of making sure that younger kids can't get their hands on it.
The Doctor
The title of the thread is inaccurate. My prostitue doesn't have a problem with it. Even I, as a hardcore GTA hater, think that this is rediculous. They have more important things to worry about.
igyman
I have a sudden urge to clarify my last post. Clarification: There isn't a person in this world who would want to kill people just because the main character of their favourite game does it. The age doesn't matter. However, there are crackpots, loonies, call them what you will, who already have killing urges and will one day want to go out into the street with an automated rifle and try to replicate the way of killing people from their favourite game, not because the main character does it, but because they want to do it and they simply like the way it's being done in a particular game. Years ago I heard of a case where this crackpot walked into a movie theater with a shotgun and started killing people. When he was arrested he said he wanted to replicate a situation from Duke Nukem. The truth is that video games DON'T kill people (unless you count death from lack of food, water and sleep due to sitting endlessly in front of a computer for days), GUNS kill people, especially guns in the hands of psychos who want to blow off some steam by killing someone and actually think they can avoid jailtime if they say that they did it because their favourite videogame character does it. The Doctor
^ Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Anyway, that's off topic...
igyman
I don't think it's off topic because it refers to the reason why the prostitutes (in this case, though everyone who wants a game banned states the same reason) want the game banned. The Doctor
Nah, I mean my arguments to support the fact that guns don't kill people, people kill people.
igyman
Oookaaay. But there's some truth in your arguments.
Emperor Devon
That's ridiculous. And considering how this is coming from people who have sex for money, I really don't think their opinions count for much.
Hallucination
^It's also illegal, so that makes their opinions count for even less.
JediKnight707
Why are we dissing prostitutes? Jeez Hall, I thought of you as a fairly nice guy, but just because they have to go to drastic measures to support themselves. It's illegal, but for some, it's neccesary. [ON TOPIC] I think that they should fry the bigger fish here. Forget GTA, stop having sex for money.
Jeff
You would think that if women were openly admitting to prostitution just to rant about this game, they would be arrested.
Tysyacha
One of the worst things about prostitution is this: If a woman decides she wants to retire from "the world's oldest profession", she has little chance of getting a good job. What law firm, scientific laboratory, publishing house, human services department, or even business office would hire a former prostitute if its CEO knew about her record? My guess is, very few of these prestigious businesses would. Even office receptionists have to have a resume, and they can't lie on it. If I were a prostitute, I know I'd make more money doing my old kind of work than slinging burgers at a fast-food place or cleaning hotel rooms for $5.15/hr. So, the temptation NOT to go straight would definitely be there, loud and clear. P.S. What company makes the GTA series? Do they make any RPG's? Jeff
Rockstar games, the only games I know that they make are the GTA series.

CountVerilucus
GTA is so fun, they shouldn't ban it. if you dont want to play it, then dont. but if you do, then go right ahead. as with the prostitue thing, well when i play, if they dont get in the car then i spray them with the tech 9. if they do, then i pop them afterwards and pickup the money. as for the people vs. Gta, don't pay attention to them, the game is great, play it.
