Major League Gaming

Saw on Fox news that Major League Gaming is hitting cable (USA network) some time in the not too distant future. This may not be new to some of you, but it was news to me that some gamers can make up to $200k/year playing video games.

I think I missed my calling in life. Think of all the student loans and years in schools I could have saved if I'd concentrated more on my technique playing Circus Atari. :D

MLG in Halo 2 is for people who can't play Halo 2 the right way.

"Oh, there's no grenades or radar. Only Battle Rifles and Pistols."

I think MLG can die on Halo 2, or all together.

That's my opinion on MLG.

IMHO, that sounds like a horrible idea for a show, because any gamer who has his/her priorities remotely straight would rather be playing the games than watching some guys play the games on TV.

Lol. I would rather play games too.

Yeah, I'm all for the pro gaming thing, but it just shouldn't be on tv, there are so many better things you could be doing, and at the least, you could be playing games instead of watching other people play them.

I would watch. I mean, I wouldn't watch a lot, but I'd like to see how good you have to be to make $200,000 a year playing video games. It would still get old pretty quick, though.

Well, they're thinking that if people are willing to watch other people play poker on TV, then they're willing to watch MLG on cable, too.

I know some people will watch it, but I don't get the point of it, I hate watching poker on tv, because why watch it when I could just go play it?

^ I agree, I don't watch poker on tv, either. Of course, I don't play poker much, so that's likely a factor. :)

I just think it's a fascinating commentary on what people might find interesting on tv.

It can be fun to sit by your friend and watch him play a video game but watching it on TV? Errr...I'll pass.

Some gamers are really good and make a lot of money. Their life is about gaming. They devote all their time to playing. It makes them good. Often, they also become real assholes like that FATAL1TY piece of ****.

I remember some Doom 3 demonstration with him. They give you free stuff if you manage to kill him. Of course, they also forget to mention that he's been playing it for a week, testing out all the weapons and maps while you've barely touched the game for more then 10 mins. I hate that bastard.

Watching other people play games? Pff

But did you know that there are 2 channels in South Korea which are all about the game Starcraft? (Starcraft is incredible popular in south korea)

@lukeiamyourdad

But you have to admit that FATAL1TY is the best Progamer in almost every FPS except Counterstrike. He's really good in no-teamwork FPS's

IMHO it's still nice to have the option of watching some other gamers competing (especially if you're rig's old n' busted, or you let your trigger finger open helping your brother install a 3-ton heatpump (you know how heavy 3-tons is???:xp: )).

Arena wasn't half as good as a full day of CSS on a full, mic friendly, clan server, but I don't know why it wasn't continued and improved?

Why G4 doesn't have some kind of current gaming competition I'll never understand (although they do make up for it with Drunk(pickaname) and the new AotS cohost Olivia :naughty: )
