This is where we come together and talk write about old movies worth remembering.

I'll start:

12 Angry Men.

Awesome, incredible movie, especially if you love debating. Twelve jurors sit in a room debating the guilt of a murder suspect. It all takes place in a single room, in real-time, a 90-minutes discussion on whether or not the tried kid should be fried in the chair. I saw (half of it) in Communications Applications, a mandatory High School class. I finally managed to get my hands on a copy at a music-and-film store downtown, although I'm wondering if it isn't a different version from the one I saw in CA class. I remember, for example, this scene where they're in the bathroom, one of them splashing water in his face. And I swear that in the "CA class version", there's this huge AC thing instead of a tiny fan, and... Geez, I could go on and on. Guess I'll have to get back to searching if there's a second version.

Edit: Picked this up describing another version on Amazon: "Like the other two versions, it brings the viewer right into the jury room to watch the deliberators shout, plead, squirm, cajole, vote, then vote again and again until they reach a verdict in a case trying a young Hispanic for murder."

Recommend your own old movie (with 'old' I mean from the 70's or earlier, I suppose. 12 angry men is from '57).

Charade (1963)

Staring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. It's been a while since i've seen it, and my memory is a bit rusty, but it's about a lady who is about to divorce her husband when he turns up dead, after selling everything single thing they own for more cash. She meets Cary Grant (who's character's name changes ever 20 minutes or so...) in search of the lost money, and the cause of death. When his team of "investigators" turn up dead, you can begin to "expect the unexpected when they play...'Charade' "

It's a great mix of comedy, romance, and suspence/thriller, and I HIGHLY suggest it.

Casablanca Wonderful fim starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingred Bergman, and Paul Henreid. I'm not going to give a summary because it's better if you just see it yourself.

@Dagobahn Eagle I prefer the Jack Lemmon version myself

No. Star Wars maybe?

Never heard of that one, care to elaborate?

I just knew Casablanca was going to be brought up. I read a comic version of it once (starring Mickey Mouse:)), but the movie's probably thousand times better:p.

Titanic was holy awful, to hear the way kids in a 3rd grade classroom were talking about (Why their parents let them see it is beyond me) you'de think it was great, I see it when it came out on video (mind you I wasn't allowed to see the bad stuff) and relly hated it.

The Creeping Terror (1964)

This is the worst monster movie of all time. Period. The apparent loss of valuable dialogue through a faulty sound system is hastily covered up by horrid narration such as:

"Now Bradford made a drastic move. Acting on his superior authority, he forbad Caldwell to destroy the creature. The Colonel, more concerned with saving human lives than advancing Science, told Bradford to "Go to Hell."
However, this movie is worth noting since the stupidity of it makes it hilarious. Take for example the monster, "The Creeping Terror": http://www.badmovies.org/movies/creepterror/creepterror3.jpg It's more of a lumpy carpet than anything. I highly recommend watching it, especially if you can get your hands on the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version. :)

The only reason Titanic did so good was Leonardo DiCaprio's fangirls. Although I have to admit it, i lurved that movie. I even have a replica heart of the ocean that's still a good luck charm. Thank god I'm over that crap.

the Graduate was a cool old movie.

That movie was so bad it made me bleed from my eyes and ears.

that's a mightily impressive talent you've got there.

how about chariots of fire?

the way they run... makes me lol :)

George A. Romero's Night Of The Living Dead (1968) is probably the best zombie movie ever made (not counting Shaun Of The Dead). Probably.

Dracula from 1931 with Bela Lugosi is also an excellent horror film, and Mr. Lugosi's evil stare is timeless:

Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959) is also a classic, but maybe not in the same way. I still love it though.

GREAT movie, the remake doesn't live up to it whatsoever (though it is still good, if special effects and color are more important to you than good story quality?)

Blazing Saddles FTW!

Hahaha I just watched that movie a month ago or so, it's really good... but the ending is COMPLETELY random and REALLY weird...
