Emperor Devon
This was inspired from Pottsie's thread about new posts. What your first avatar when you were a newbie, and why don't you still have it? Mine was this. Definitely not as good as my current avatar. I had this one because it was the most Sith-like avatar I could find, and I hadn't gotten photoshop yet. So, what was yours?
milo
I just had one of the standard avatars for a while, then I switched to my current one.
The Doctor
Hmm... I'm not exactly sure what my very first avatar was. I'm pretty sure it was this, but I'm not 100% positive. I stopped using it at around Chirstmas, when I changed it to a snow covered TARDIS with a wreath. Then I changed it to another Peter Davison one. After that it was various forms of the TARDIS, and most recently the Ninth Doctor, before creating this one in GIMP out of two other images. RedHawke
My first one was a Shadow ship from B5... Definitely not as good as my current avatar. On my end your current avatar is all black... I have been meaning to ask is it supposed to be that way?
The Doctor
^ If you look closely at it, you can see the outline of a hooded figure. I was wondering about that for a while myself.
Jeff
My first avatar was a stock one of Han Solo. My first custom one was the error picture that read 'You're too stupid to see this user's picture' or something like that.
Emperor Devon
On my end your current avatar is all black... I have been meaning to ask is it supposed to be that way? It isn't. I can see my avatar perfectly clearly.
Maverick5770
I had the custom darth vader avatar(how the hell to you add a pic?), then a while back i switched to this one, just because I felt like a change.
stoffe
It isn't. I can see my avatar perfectly clearly. All black on my end too. I had to copy&paste it into an image editing program and increase the gamma about 90% in order to see anything else than a black square. * * * If I remember correctly my first avatar was the insignia of the Elerian Empire from Master of Orion II, since I was playing a round of that old game as the Elerian faction by the time I signed up here and lacked anything better to use as avatar. REDJOHNNYMIKE
Whatever the "REDest" picture in the defaults was. An artists rendering of the sexiest man on earth. My current avatar.
Jeff
I can see ED's avatar, it's mostly black and has the sillouette of a cloak in dark grey.
Char Ell
My very first avatar on LF was one of the selectable JK symbols. Didn't have that one for very long. My second was a bantha fodder image I extracted from KotOR using Fred Tetra's KotOR Tool. This was back in the day before the vB3 upgrade when LF had the per-forum titles. I figured if my title was "Bantha Fodder" then I should have an avatar to match. An artists rendering of the sexiest man on earth. Heh-heh-heh. That was a good one! Took me a few minutes before I stopped laughing.
Commander Obi-Wan
My first avvy was one that was provided by LF. It was holocron-version of Darth Maul.
Samnmax221
Well this was my first one. Of course it was replaced by the Casablanca avatar which I later widened out to include the whole frame.

coupes.
Clever, hows it done? Well, basically when you highlight a picture in Explorer 1 out of 2 pixel is covered with color in checker pattern. So basically, you blend 2 pictures together one has say, the odd pixels, and the other one, the even ones. You then adjust the contrasts, levels, etc. so the main picture is visible but the hidden one is, well hidden. Usually you try making the main image brighter than the hidden one. When you highlight it in Explorer all the pixels from the main image are covered, leaving only the hidden image's pixels... I hope you followed cause I'm not explaining again. So this was the first, and only (as far as I know) interactive avatar. It doesn't work in Firefox because Firefox only covers the images with a 50% opacity color, instead of a checker pattern. edit: Find out who's hiding in the desert... milo
I can't see the other image. When I highlight it, it's just blank.

Jae Onasi
An artists rendering of the sexiest man on earth. No, DMo, that would be a picture of my hubby. (I'll take Orlando Bloom, Harrison Ford, or Antonio Banderas in a pinch) @Emperor D--I see a very nice black square, too. My first avatar was (no surprise) one of the stock Yodas here. Jimbo found another Yoda that I liked better, and I've been using that one since.
REDJOHNNYMIKE
If you're using an LCD try looking down at his avatar, mine just has different contrasts at different angles.
