packersfan
I need new awesome Star Wars games for PCs. Post ideas here, what you'd like to see: I really need a Jedi Knight 3 or 4 whatever it is. This time Kyle Katarn against the Yuuzhan Vong, could even expand characters available for use in 'Jedi Knight', Corran Horn? Jacen Solo? This would be cool. We need an updated Star Wars flight combat game like X-Wing and Tie Fighter, going through the whole trilogy and beyond, this would be a massive game or games, but would be great to have better and more in-depth game!!! Really can't think of different TYPES of games just more for PC and new storylines and adventures and tap into the Expanded Universe after Return of the Jedi eventwise. I would love to fly some missions in New Republic battles against the remnant in an E-Wing or against the Vong in Jedi Stealth X-Wings!

Dagobahn Eagle
I need new awesome Star Wars games for PCs. Post ideas here, what you'd like to see.I was planning to make a thread like this myself, discussing new SW games. Nice initiative. We need an updated Star Wars flight combat game like X-Wing and Tie Fighter, going through the whole trilogy and beyond, this would be a massive game or games, but would be great to have better and more in-depth game!!!What would be great is to stop relying on those stupid movies for plot over and over again. Sure, the battle of Hoth was fun in the first Rogue Squadron game, but the second time it was just "oh, OK, Hoth again". And when they insisted on using it in the third game, too, and had to invent some totally absurd nonsense about Luke riding a tauntaun across the battlefield, I just about had it with the whole series. Anyone played TIE Fighter? It had zero missions from the movies, and yet was the best SW game I've ever played (in part because they actually came up with a good plot for each Tour of Duty, instead of Rogue Squadron's "fly all by yourself into this stupid force field tunnel to find an Imperial base. Destroy an entire squadron of TIE Hunters yourself, fly even further in, and then fly back out. Don't worry about Imperials convoys with 100 fighters escorting them - they'll ignore you 100%"). I miss TIE Fighter's peace-keeping, pirate-hunting, border patrols, and all the other interesting and immersive situations they threw you into. We need an updated Star Wars flight combat game like X-Wing and Tie Fighter, going through the whole trilogy and beyond, this would be a massive game or games, but would be great to have better and more in-depth game!!!Agreed. I'd like this 100% realistic space simulator game which gives you command of a T-65c X-Wing which is 100% accurate to the movies (every key, switch, and lever in the same place). You're the squadron-leader, with control of how to train your men (I don't mean "training missions" you actually fly, just the ability to split up down-time into training for this, training for that, spare time, training for this, and so on), which pilots to fly with, which to keep in reserve, and which to turn down (let each pilot have a ton of various stats), how to customize your fighters (Gran Turissmo/Silent Hunter III-style:)), what type of proton torpedoes to pack for each mission, the strategy and tactics of each mission, and so on. In-game, it's switching deflector screen power, using your targetting computer, keeping control of your squadron, ordering various attack patterns, damage control, rules of engagement to follow, and what the Heck not. A totally realistic, high-detail game letting you take control of everything, or in short, X-Wing Alliance on speed. I could go on and on about the details... Not that it'll ever happen as long as LucasArt focuses on ultra-simplistic games like Rogue Squadron and Battlefront... Sigh... But it's a thought. Second on the list is a good MMORPG without Jedi, as opposed to SW Galaxies, the unofficial sequel to the Jedi Knight series. Another RTS would be nice, too. MrWally
Wow, nice post Dagobahn. I'd like this 100% realistic space simulator game which gives you command of a T-65c X-Wing which is 100% accurate to the movies (every key, switch, and lever in the same place). I agree, except that, if it was 100% realistic, it wouldn't be quite like Star Wars. Because if you pay attention, they fighters in Star Wars bank while flying, which is technically impossible, because there is no air in space... But I guess they could leave out that detail I'd love to see a completely original storyline, I mean, I think everyone agrees that one MAJOR reason Jedi Knight and KotOR were so successful was because of their originality. And the "they speak English and American English a thousand million light years away", and "there were humans all the way out there with no serious explanation as to how they go there". 100% realistic except from those things and the other inconsistencies:D. MrWally
Damn you inconsistencies.. damn you! Ruinin' our fun Anyways, to be back on topic, I'd also like to see a real time open-ended Jedi RPG. I mean, KotOR is great, but I get REALLY tired of turn based games real fast. Even if the turn based concept is hidden pretty well. Basically, something similar to the Jedi Knight series, but no so restricted and linear, it's kind of hard to explain. :/
BongoBob
So like, KotORs storyness and RPG elements, with JKAs gameplay.
generalvaklu321
So like, KotORs storyness and RPG elements, with JKAs gameplay. Definately. Or not just JK's gameplay, other games too like EAW or SWBF. There a 4000 year period to fit a game in, it leaves room for creativity to the developers. Dagobahn Eagle
I'd like a Final Fantasy-style RPG, to be honest. There a 4000 year period to fit a game in, it leaves room for creativity to the developers.I've been giving that some thought, too. Namely, what if they went way back in time to, say, the invention of space-ships on Coruscant? Estabilishing contact with alien races? Founding the first Jedi Order? Inventing the blaster or deflector screen? I can see it now.. StarWars SG-1:p... Though maybe you weren't thinking about going that far back:). TiE23
NJO killed Chewie. So I say no to anything NJO. Also, R.A. Salvatore isn't that good, I read the first NJO book and it was frustrating how little detail he used when describing stuff, so screw him.
MrWally
How about the formation of the very first Jedis? Wouldn't that be interesting? To play a character who's developing all these Jedi powers, and has no idea what's happening to him. Then he realizes that others around, all over the planet are having the same things happen to them (Maybe he can sense them through the Force). And then he gets them all together and they start working together, but naturally there are the bad guys that use their power for evil, and start training others to use the Force. Thus the creation of the Sith. And yeah, if that above paragraph violated any major work about Star Wars, sorry, I haven't read much of the books from before the movies. Emperor Devon
KotOR III for me as well, though I'd like some games that into more depth about the Empire's darksiders. I find the Emperor's Prophets, Hands, Inquisitors and other Dark Jedi to be very interesting. The Thrawn and Dark Empire trilogy turned into video games would be cool as well. toms
Vong suck. More thrawn would be nice though. I'd love a detailed sim along the lines of Tie-fighter.. but its not going to happen gasmes don't get made these days unless you can fit all the controls on a gamepad. Still.. dynamic campaign, full 3d cockpits, interesting and varied missions, chance to play as the bad guys, alleigence style multiplayer, chance to run around inside larger ships to man turrets, assign crew and droids, repair hyperdrives, etc.. would be nice. For those more consoley inclined: Clone wars - The game. Cell shaded jedi action at a frantic pace, slicing and force pushing through 1000s of droids at a time. Facing, or even playing as grievous. KoToR was great.. KoToR2 was dull. The slogging through 1000s of meaningless battles against space-frogs before you can get to the next plot point was really boring. I haven't played jade empire yet.. but maybe it's combat system is more exciting. Or the new bioware games coming up. A neverwinter nights or morrowind set in the starwars rpg universe would be cool. The time between the trilogies is ripe for exploitation by any number of games. Heck, the "hunting down and killing the jedi" bit has been begging for a game for decades. I'm sure lucasarts will obige, though i suspect they won't be the sort of games ill get excited about. Most important to me though, they need to have a good plot with interesting characters. All the recent SW games (excpet KoToRs) have had almost no plot, no developed characters, and just been a chance to play through bits of the movies. The attempts at NEW plots and characters have resulted in rubbish like Jaden, KyleHEARTSjan, whoever those characters were in starfighter, etc.. As for FPS.. i want something deeper, slower, more freeform.

Not to mention the fact that KotOR 2 was also unfinished, and that made the ending make absolutely no sense whatsoever. The rest of the game was pretty fun, except for the fact that there were like 2 lightsabers in the entire game, where-as in KotOR 1 you found them in trashcans. I still have one save on my xbox from it, from when that one city gets invaded. That plust force storm = win. I just wish they hadn't rushed it for christmas, because the ending really pissed me off, it didn't explain anything, where as the original was a gaming masterpiece IMO. I knew that something like that was gonna happen if Bioware wasn't making it. Toms, if you liked KotOR 1, get Jade Empire. You won't be dissapointed. It's really good. The ending feels a bit more rushed than KotOR 1, but it makes sense and closes up all loose ends IIRC, unlike KotOR 2.
Writer
Vong suck. Amen! For those more consoley inclined: Clone wars - The game. I'd love both of those Most important to me though, they need to have a good plot with interesting characters. All the recent SW games (excpet KoToRs) have had almost no plot, no developed characters, and just been a chance to play through bits of the movies. Agreed! Jaden, KyleHEARTSjan Well, the Kyle/Jan romance was bound to happen... though it's true they could've used a little more... moderation and a lot less random kissing... And as for Jaden... well, yeah, there's no excuse for that... As for FPS.. i want something deeper, slower, more freeform. Ditto. I was annoyed by how much they claimed JA was gonna be freeform when it really wasn't. Sure, you had your pick of missions, but it all brought you to the same goal... and if you wanted to get to your most powerful, you had to play all the missions anyway! Come on, LucasArts! Give us some choices... a new genre of FPS, in which you fully take control of your character, dialogue is not handled in cut scenes, and you can whup ass as needed.
