Holy Silver Surfer!!!

The guy reminds me of the Terminator played by Robert Patrick...:xp:

Trailer seems quit spectacular though...let's hope it'll turn out to be better then the first Fantastic Four movie :)

I think it will be, it's gotten past the introduction phase, so they can get straight into asskicking...Like most other superhero movies, I think the second volume will be the best, or at least better than the first (see: Spider-Man 2, X-Men 2, Blade 2, Terminator 2, etc...)

That' just the teaser trailer, as you said Ztalker it doesn't seem spectacular.

Erm, did he not say it seemed "quite spectacular"?

The first one was an ok movie, not nearly as good as spiderman or Xmen though.

Don't know about the Silver surfer. Doesn't seem to be the most innovative villain. Doom hat some style at least (and reminded me of starwars :D).

Anyway, I'm fairly sure I will watch the movie, after all Jessica Alba is a real eye candy! :D

The Silver Surfer is not a villain. His master, Galactus, is the threat. But he's not really a traditional villain, either.

And the first one wasn't that good, partly because Doom's character was so watered down. They could've made a whole movie about Doom's life before the Fantastic Four even existed, from the source material. So I guess they thought the safest bet was to change his entire backstory. To me he was a big disappointment as a character.

Doom is coming back though.

From what I hear it's been implied that he'll try to steal the Surfer's power for himself.

While I won't be going to see it... as I really dislike going to the movies. Thankfully there is cable. ;)

I have seen the first Fantastic Four and it was really good... though they could have given Dr. Doom a little more 'on screen' development time.

Call him antagonist then. Oh and I know Galactus. Isn't that some kind of godlike all powerful super being that devours worlds, much like our good buddy Nihilus? Not everyone's taste, at least not mine.

And, for the record, any "comic book purist" who can't live with backstory changes for the sake of a good movie can BITE ME! :)
Are you talking to me?

I wouldn't mind backstory changes at all if they were true to Doom's traditional characterisation and mythology. The problem was that he just didn't feel like the Doom I've been reading about for years, because they made him so different. And like I said, watered down. Context is everything. Does that make sense?

Well, a character that can devour worlds seems a lot less out of place in a universe like the one the Fantastic Four live in. Which seems to be a common objection to Nihilus among KotOR players. From what I've gathered, he doesn't get a lot of screen time in the movie, if he's even in it at all.

I agree, the character is based on the comic, but besides that there is almost no resemblance, and we're just supposed to accept that? If you're going to make a movie BASED on a comic, you might as well try and do a decent job instead of totally changing the character and thus creating an unfair image of that character towards a wider audience, while fans are being let down, seems a bit lose-lose to me...

Exactly, Galactus is kinda what Zeus is in Greek Mythology related movies, he's there and almighty, but hardly in the picture...

I think having Galactus will be necessary to explain Silver Surfer's powers, and maybe give him a worthy opponent, but other than that I don't think he will have that much screen time as you said...
