E3 2007 Galore!

Damn. I missed E3 while I was gone.

I'm waiting for Metroid Prime 3 for the Wii and SSBB. I tried to watch some videos on IGN but they wouldn't work. So, I'll be busy today looking for some more videos for this games and some 360 games.

I'm like the Xbox 360 lineup as well. Such games like Assassin's Creed, Turok, Halo 3, The Force Unleashed, and specifically Mass Effect are looking all SO GOOD.

If you appreciate NES, SNES, N64, GCN, Wii, TG16 and Genesis games on the same system then you'll love it even more...

Of course, I'd have to rebuy those games. Or I could just hook up my NES, N64, GC, the Genesis! Or, I could buy whatever retro games are on Live Arcade. Or I could... be naughty.

Yes, of course, I forgot you can download Super Metroid and A Link to the Past on your Xbox360 :dozey:

EDIT: Plus I've been able to download a tonne of oldskool games I didn't have a chance to buy when the older systems were out. And now I've got quite a few TG16 games that were never released in Australia.

I like Live Arcade as well, but both services have things the other doesn't.

I'd be all over a Wii if it weren't for the lame ass Wiimote . Yeah, I'm coordinated, I just find that **** to be ****ing lame. The Wiimote is to gaming what karaoke is to live concerts. To reiterate, it's ****ing lame.

Oh boy!

Maybe it'd be nice if he told us why he thought that.

Oh and to clarify on what I said about dual-stick FPS controls, I don't like the setup, but I can still play with it. I just don't like the concept, it's not very natural but you can get some good results if you get really used to it. Mouse + Keyboard is always a favourite among people for good reason, and while most will probably disagree with me, I think the Wiimote + Nunchuk has a better potential for FPS controls than the dual-stick setup.

Ironically that's what I think of dual-stick FPS control lol.

Unless you're Alanis Morrisette, that's not irony. That's more of a catty "oh yeah? Well I don't like things that you like" sort of comment. Unfortunately, your jab doesn't work because I also don't like dual stick analog types either. :)

As for why I don't like the Wiimote, there's really nothing to debate. I think it's lame. Like I said. I have a hard time imagining myself having any fun jumping around like those horses asses in those "Wii would like to play" commercials with the super annoying Asian-esque music. But I do think the Wii itself is an awesome machine, with some pretty cool games. I'd actually like to try RE4 on it. The Gamecube version is one of my all time favorites.

I missed the Alanis Morrissette thing. But anyway, what I got from that was I don't think I can bring myself to look like a horse-ass and play Wii. The solution would be.. to not... look like a horse-ass. For games that you would be interested in playing (such as Resident Evil 4, to which I give a satisfying hell yes) there's no real exaggerated motions like you see on the commercials.

So, simply put, sit there and play the Wii, or jump around if you want. It doesn't matter, the game plays the same.

(another hell yeah for RE:4.. just beat that game... had it since Christmas... scares the pants off me)

Yeah, you don't have to do all the elaborate motions they show on tv, you can just sit there and point the remote. Games like Zelda and RE4 require very little motion, but theres enough to still make it better than a traditional console.

@ CapN: I'm sorry, I really didn't mean it that way, but I do realise that because I like Nintendo and talk about Nintendo a lot in these threads that people would immediately assume that I'd attack others views over whatever... I know that's how people see me in here but *shrugs* the funny thing is Nintendo fans in a Nintendo forum I go to think I'm too critical of Nintendo so I have no idea where I stand.

To make it clear, I didn't know that you liked or disliked dual-stick controls and I wasn't attacking you using that. I was also going by the whole general populous view that PC controls are far superior to dual-stick controls.

But then again, you really can't criticise me after your first initial post now can you. After making that first initial post, which, yes, was a joke, I like to make jokes-but it wasn't at your expense-but I followed that up asking what you meant by that... though not so much in a question form XD lol.

Your post was a little sudden and pretty aggressive so the question "why?" comes to mind. Not "He's baggin Wii! Let's get him!!"

...And I don't think you believe me cause obviously I'm such an ******* so *shrugs* whatever.

I don't have any reason not to believe you. And yeah, my posts from early this morning were a little too...harsh? I was...um...PWI. I didn't remember even posting some of them until I logged on today.

Back on topic, that's cool that you don't have to use the Wiimote, or at the very least if you do, you don't have to do all that jackassery shown on tv. I've seriously contemplated getting a Wii since I first heard about them, but the Wiimote's just never appealed to me, so that's good news.

When I heard that the GCN controller and Classic controller I was pretty happy too, though for the reason that I am is because it really does make it the definitive version to own for people... at least for now XD lol, Capcom loves to rerelease stuff.

And really CapN, if I had to do all the jackassery they show on TV, do you think I would buy a Wii? I'll give you an example of good Wiimote usage for us regular games and it involves Resident Evil 4...

While we do have the choice of GCN and Classic controller control options, the Wiimote + Nunchuk option is the best. The aiming is pixel perfect, it's so good in fact that for the most part you can use your handgun to take out long distant targets without the need for a rifle at all. There are parts of the game where you get Ganados that have sticks of dynamite... :D It's so fun to pick off those guys cause all it takes is one well aimed shot and BOOM-SPLAT!!~ :D :D :D

That said, RE4 really isn't the best game to show off what the Wiimote can do since all of the game mechanics are based off of a traditional control setup... I'm waiting for Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 Corruption to show me how it's all done.

Link, I don't think Kain meant the 360. I think he was just talking about a modded xbox. My v1.3 Xbox is softmodded with Xbox Media Center installed, with Emulators for N64, SNES, NES, Genesis, Gameboy, PSX even.

I'm aware of what a modded Xbox can do... and technically we don't have to pay for ANY of the games we could buy, we can find all kinds of ways to steal them. But I don't steal my games so I was going by that.

And while I don't care if people steal stuff, I hate it when they gloat about it in any way.

XD And it's Lynk...

EDIT: Oh noez!!

Golden Sun DS confirmed fake

Too bad all the ROMs I have on it are the ones I have the actual copies of >.> <.<

And I wasn't gloating about it, I was just pointing out what I believed he meant. My bad Lynk :p

Well, this is probably the best place to post this... Wall of Text:

Anyway, off-topic, sorta. But I finally got to experience the PS3 personally at a friend's house and got to play Resistance, Virtua Fighter 5, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

Anyway, the controller was ridiculously light feeling but it didn't even come into my mind after that.

Virtua Fighter 5 was alright but felt like a slower version of DOA4. It was just another fighting game with horrible voice-overs and crazy cliche characters.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma was just like the 3.5 year old game that I played on the Xbox years ago. The environment was nicer looking but the graphical improvements only really showed in the cut scenes. And for some reason there were loading pauses in certain sections of the game. And I laughed at how whenever you opened a chest a loading icon appeared. Now, there was a loading pause on the Xbox versions, too. But how it actually says that it's "Now Loading" every time you open it just makes it hilarious. The game was exactly like the original and was nothing special.

But one funny thing happened is that I said, "Okay, I'm done with this," and went over to the PS3 and hit the ejection button. Suddenly my friend's older brother says, "Woah, hey, don't do that, that'll damage it."

I was like "WTF?" But then I saw what he was talking about, the game was still playing and didn't freeze. I expected it to stop and go back to the dashboard like the 360. But apparently it's supposed to just freeze and stop, but to my friend's surprise, the game kept playing. The music stopped but we were able to go pretty far before the game finally froze. Funny thing is that the game went through a "Now Loading" point in the level and it still worked.

We lastly played Resistance co-op split screen for about an hour. The game was alright but nothing incredible. It felt like a solid shooter and the graphics weren't half bad, but the enemies were all the same with the same weapons. It was fun but I wasn't all the sold on the thing.

PS3 is alright, but I'll keep my 360 for now. The thing is is that my friend got the PS3 just a few days ago after his 360 blew-up on him for a second time and he returned it to Best Buy for credit. But anyway, before he got the PS3 I kept trying talking him out of getting it. But the problem was that he was somewhat of a Sony fanboy and had like no idea what kinds of games were out for the 360. I mean, he had only Halo 2, Perfect Dark Zero, Madden 06, Gears of War, and Lost Planet. He was oblivious to any other games or games coming out. He had no idea about Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata - games that would interest him (he is a Final Fantasy fiend). But only knew that MGS4 and FFXIII were coming out for the PS3 in like a year.

But he did say that since he got his first job at the place I work at (which is 10 minutes walking distance from his house) that he would get the 360 again when he has the cash (he kept all his 360 games and accessories). But I hope that when he does I can help advise him to get the right games. I mean, if you get a console and no games that you like, you'd get sick of it too.

Here is a list I'd give him (at like Christmas time):

Rainbow Six: Vegas

Rock Band / Guitar Hero II

DiRT

Crackdown

Ninety-Nine Nights

Dead Rising

Oblivion GOTY Edition

PGR4

Forza 2

Mass Effect

Blue Dragon

Halo 3

GTA IV

Eternal Sonata

Beautiful Katamari

Soul Calibur IV

Devil May Cry 4

What's funny is that if you have both consoles and you have to choose between versions, unless there is something particularly better on the PS3, the 360 will be the first choice - the online is better and Achievement points give you more 'value'.
