Dr Who - 2008 (Warning: spoilers ahead!)

Who watched the second part?

So...good...

I liked how the sci-fi element wasn't the big surprise of the episode. And we've been given a lot more information about the mystery that is the Doctor than ever before...and yet the questions still remain.

The wonderful part is, we've been told so much about him we didn't know before, and yet still really know nothing new. It's incredible. I can't express enough how amazing Steven Moffat is. :D

It also looks like we now know what Ood Sigma was talking about at the end of Planet of the Ood:

"I think your Song must end soon. Every Song must end".

>.< Im not watching scifi anymore... I dont like being 3 episodes behind.

Hope my PM helped with that. :D

If they ever give the Doctor a name, besides "the doctor", I will personally fly over to England and b!tch-slap the writer responsible. >.< Of course, I might have to wait in line... lol

And yes, both pm's helped with that! Thanks. ;D

saw the second bit....not as eerie as the first part, but seemed to tie up all the loose ends.

Bit sad how

everyone else was saved nicely but evangelista was distorted

and I dont really understand how that happenned :p

The Doctors name will always be a mystery, but it would surely have to be revealed eventually...only two doctors left ;)

Its interesting how River Song keeps carrying on that this doctor is so ''young''... each doctor gets younger, if she is close to 11 or 12, you'd figure theyd be younger. At least she did confirm that either 11 or 12 are males :D

anyway, I think the next couple of eps are going to be fillers til we ge to the finale arc :D

@Tooplex > the cybermen were spotted

during the filming of the christmas special for this year

There was an article and pic about in a Welsh newspaper

I absolutely loved the second part to the library! The ending was also very sweet. Would have liked to have seen them actually explore the world a bit more... and I hope donna and whats his name hook up again. :|

We know she was close to the 10th Doctor (she says "judging by your face..." in the first part). She just means that he's younger (in spirit) than she's ever seen him before.

He doesn't really become her Doctor until the end of part 2.

oo cybermen at xmas!

some parts of part 2 took a few mins for me to understand. I got annoyed about the name thing. WHAT IS HIS NAME?! *cried*

but at least we will see a torchwood s3 :D

i dont know bout all of u - but im not too fond of s4 of doc who - its a bit too stupid for my tastes. i did not like the agatha or doctors daughter eps one bit.

I'd have to disagree with you Farst, 100%. I've loved this season so far, apart from Planet of the Ood. I fail to see what's so "stupid" about any of it.

As for there only being two Doctors after the 10th? Hogwash. The 13 incarnations rule will be ret-coned or overcome somehow, for sure.

Yeah, I'm not too fond of it either. Though I'd put Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead up there with The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances and The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit.

The problem is that they're starting to run out of ideas. The Christmas special was just a longer version of The End of the World, and The Unicorn and the Wasp was another The Shakespeare Code (not that either was bad, just that it's enough for one time :p). Same goes with The Sontaran Strategem/The Poison Sky and The Doctor's Daughter, in a way. Three episodes in a row with (most of) the same themes...kind of much. Probably one of the reasons they're going for a miniseries instead of a full series next year (same with Torchwood).

Oh, and am I the only one who's not interested in what his name is so much as what the only reason he could tell her is? If it is what I think it is, then something big is in store for the end of S4.

if theres money left in the franchise, sure it will be ; and they left the door open for the master to come back too :)

They also lelft the door waaaaaaaaaaaay open for The Daughter to return too... or have her own spin off... that would be fun for a season I think. Just as long as they dont try and do a Torchwood or a Sarah Jane with it. >.>

I don't think she'll get her own series. They've already got two spin-off series, and I don't think they'll risk a third, personally. Davies might have done it, but with him stepping down from Doctor Who (and possibly Torchwood, as well), and his limited involvement with the Sarah Jane Adventures, it looks like he's trying to secede from the Whoniverse more and more. Not that that's entirely a bad thing.

Yeah but.. Georgia Moffet traipsing about on screen kicking butt and acting like the Doctor... how cool would that be? I would atleast like to see her in another episode. hehe

I wouldnt want to have another series of Dr Who related cash-cowing, but... shes cute, and perky. lol

DT was on a BBC talk show the other day, where the question about his return was put to him>> longstoryshort >> he said he hadnt been asked yet, but would consider it if done so :)

I think that's as clear as answer we're going to have til post Hamlet methinks :D

view the interview here >> clickity to streamed clip

In related news...

@Herbz, you may be interested to hear that DT will be starring in Hamlet with Jean-Luc Picard Patrick Stewart, in the role of Claudius ;)

So, Midnight appears to me to be nothing more than a filler episode - the real excitement begins next week, by the looks of the preview. Looks like my theory may be validated soon - I caught a glimpse of something that looks suspiciously like a Spider.

I actually saw today's episode, was ok, though my verdict remains that I still much prefer the 'classics' instead of the stand alone format. Slowly building plot and slowly revealing the monster I prefer much more, I think the present format is made for the TV generation that have an inability to remember anything that happened 5 minutes ago.

Well, the current Series does something similar. Just takes longer. Little bits and pieces are brought together from across the Series and tied up into the epic finale.

Fair enough - not having a TV licence when I was up north meant not watching TV, back home with the rents atm. Tonight's was strange enough, that I think there could be a tie in - do we know that thing is really dead?

On a side note did you watch that Triangle thing? I thought it was quite good! I can't recall the Doctor ever investigating the Bermuda Triangle, which I think is strange as there could be lots of fun for him there - though I'm not up on the new series...
