Mass Effect and Age of Conan

I'd get Mass effect if I could... But I don't have a 360 and my parents have a certain 'biased' view about M-rated games... Including Halo... Age of Conan isn't my type of game though.

There's a PC version on the way. :p And about your parents: maybe they're in need of some education about how ridicules ERSB ratings are (no blood - T, blood - M, boobs - AO). Maybe then they will reconsider. :D

Just remember: ME = KOTOR with blood.

Age of Conan might be cool, but I'm a bit biased against MMOs. Mass Effect is a must-buy.

@Arcesious: Not sure if this would help or not, but this site has game reviews that include stuff about "appropriateness" - violence and all the rest. In any case, it could give your parents a better idea of what's in the game than just the ESRB rating.

EDIT: Fixed URL. They updated their site, and it changed some URLs apparently.

I'll probably get AoC, if only to make my over patriotic friends stop naging me. The copy protection have turned me away from ME though.

Alex: From what I know, Arcs parrents suffer from moral-paranoia, so I'm afraid your "education" will only strenghten their resolve.

I never buy MMO's (except GW, if you can call that an MMO), but Mass Effect I will buy as soon as possible. But I am following Age of Conan's progress... I'm curious if this is going to be a WoW-killer, and more importantly, if it's success will influence Dreamfall: Chapters (which is also being developed by Funcom). :)

I have Mass Effect for the 360 and I will buy Mass Effect for the PC. It is my favorite game and I cannot wait to try out the new squad controls. The copyright protection worries me, but not enough to prevent me from buying Mass Effect.

Little bit more than that. Some language and sexual content, but nothing anyone has not seen or heard on prime time network television programs. I preordered this for my 13-year-old cousin before I knew the extent of its content on the 360. Since it had a Mature rating I gave it to his father instead, after he played it he gave it to his son. Personally, I see nothing wrong with a parent allowing their child to play Mass Effect, but it will depend on the maturity level of the child and what the parent feels is appropriate.

Age of Conan = MMOs=No Thanks.

QFT

My problem with MMO's is they generally have a monthly paid prescription, and while I may like to play say Galaxies, I refuse to have to pay monthly for it.

Mass Effect is a truly awesome game, and I can't wait to have it on PC with all the added content :D

Not that it would help if you liked MMOs. AoC is much, much more graphical and "verbal" than ME. Erotic too.

I already have ME for 360, so, if I get it, it'll probably take some time to do it. As far AoC, I'm not much interested on MMOs, but I've read some very enthusiastic previews. Who knows, I might end up getting a copy.

I used to think as you do, but if you figure in the added cost of maintinance and additional content the pay per month factor becomes more reasonable.

Why are these in the same thread? A Fantasy MMORPG and a Sci-Fi Action RPG?

I guess because both are released at about the same time.

I acknowledge the work that goes into maintaining an MMO, but it won't convince me to buy one, that's for sure. My limit at spending one game is 50 bucks.

The link gives me a 404 not found error... :(

Again I used to think that way... but that isn't the case with a MMO.

Also you aren't "buying one" you are susbcribing to one... like a magazine or newspaper.

I don't like subscribing to magazines or newspapers either. :) I guess if you are into MMO's and like them, you are willing to pay for it. I'm not.

I already have Mass Effect, and really have no interest in Age of Conan. Especially since I'm already forking over a monthly payment for another MMO.

I'll probably play a trial when it comes out. Just to see what all the fuss was about.
