My condolences for your horrible loss, Khalid. It does indeed show how trivial football really is, and think those fans who threaten to kill referee's should take a minute to consider what they are doing. Very sad news My thoughts are with him and his family; and I hope the Dutch team can give a performance to honour their team mates loss.

jonathan7
And Portugal is out! :D:D I couldn't be happier with the results of today's game. I thought Portugal lost it to be honest; 2 of 3 German goals should have been defended; giving away those two identical goals for awful marking was what cost them. Commander Obi-Wan
Whatever. Germany won! So that makes me happy. They took advantage of Portugal's mistakes. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Michael Ballack played quite well, I'd like to believe. I predicting a rematch between Croatia and German in the semi. I don't mean to take anything away from the German performance, you played very well, I just think that they made it easy for you. I would suspect that it will be Croatia v Germany, though I suspect Germany will start a different team and overpower the Croats.
Miltiades
To be fair most teams are dependant on one player; think Man Utd and Portugal with Ronaldo, Argentina and Barcelona with Messi... Well, Sweden was a little more dependent on one player than the others, I think. Man Utd. and Portugal can still be a solid team without Ronaldo. Sweden was uninspired without Ibra and when Ibra was playing bad. On tonights game: Portugal have given it away. 2 goals that shouldn't have been goals, and they were the better team in my opinion. But that's football, right?

To be fair though if you are a national team you are restricted by your talent pool (you can't go out and sign a foreign player); Sweden's only world class player is Ibra currently, so I don't think its their fault they are dependant on him. On tonights game: Portugal have given it away. 2 goals that shouldn't have been goals, and they were the better team in my opinion. But that's football, right? Donno about better team, they started slowly in the first 30 minutes, and then either side of half time they were the better team, but you could see the heads go down when the 3rd goal went in, and they got the goal back too late. Of course, but if you build a team around one player, always have a back-up plan if that player isn't available or if he's not playing well, and from what I've seen, they didn't have any. Donno about better team, they started slowly in the first 30 minutes, and then either side of half time they were the better team, but you could see the heads go down when the 3rd goal went in, and they got the goal back too late. The amount of chances were clearly in favor of Portugal, and they were passing the ball very well. The two goals of Germany ended that, though, and gave way to counters and more space for the Germans. But yeah, the third goal was what killed them. Perhaps; I don't think they have the resources currently to be able to have a back up plan. The amount of chances were clearly in favor of Portugal, and they were passing the ball very well. The two goals of Germany ended that, though, and gave way to counters and more space for the Germans. But yeah, the third goal was what killed them. Portugal did create and miss alot of chances; but what happened to Ronaldo? He may well get the World Player of the Year awards, but where was he in that game? Personally I consider both Messi and Kaka to be better players; I don't think Ronaldo can take a game by the scruff of the neck in the same way they can. Astrotoy7
Comiserations to our Portuguese friends. Defeated by that team of dull cyborgs known as Germany. Yes, for all his hair gel, Cristiano has failed to make himself count at international level. Why: he's become too used to that atrocius long ball game. Cristiano, if you are reading this: PLEASE go to Spain, make a man and a true footballer of yourself. Good luck to Turkiye and Hrvatska tonight. If Hrvatska can maintain their game, their relative fitness alone will prevail. I dont think our boys can handle 3 epic struggles in a row In any event, we can hold our heads up high for our achievements thus far, and you know we all gave you the most entertaining match of the tourney, by far .... In the Tur v Cze match, in the turmoil of the 93rd minute, the commentator from ITV UK said "If a flying saucer from Mars came down and landed on the centre circle, I wouldnt be surprised, not in this game!" ya gotta love that mtfbwya
Rabish Bini
Bah, we've done it before, and we'll do it again. If we topple (Praying we do ) Turkey, and Germany wins whoever they're versing, then it'll be an interesting rematch, Schweinsteiger played very well, setting up 2 goals and scoring the other. But, just for the record, every match Croatia has played Germany in, a German player's been sent off, and, in every match Dario Srna's scored in, Croatia win, heres hoping we can keep that up. And my condolences to poor Boulahrouz, very sad that
Astrotoy7
The winner of TUR v HRV plays Germany(as theyve already defeated Portugal). The winner of that match then goes into semi final 1. The other half of the draw is between Italy and spain and Ned vs Russia. The winner of each of these will play in semi final 2. weird setup in that you get to meet your group opponents in semi final level mtfbwya
Rabish Bini
^'Tis a bit odd, but it doesn't matter, we can show the Germans that our first victory wasn't a fluke, and that we'll gladly be able to do it again And then... We're gonna topple Spain and/or Holland, on our way to Champions of Europe!!
jonathan7
Comiserations to our Portuguese friends. Defeated by that team of dull cyborgs known as Germany. Yes, for all his hair gel, Cristiano has failed to make himself count at international level. Wrong national stereotype 1 Germany played the best football at the last world cup... Why: he's become too used to that atrocius long ball game. Cristiano, if you are reading this: PLEASE go to Spain, make a man and a true footballer of yourself. Wrong national stereotype 2 While the England national team may do the above, Man Utd do not (baring the anti-football they played against Barca in the semi's), you may take notice of this as this is coming from a Blackburn fan, so I don't like praising Man Utd. However United don't play long ball football; they are European Champions for a reason and play the best football in the Premier League despite all the hyper bowl about Arsenal. Astrotoy7
NE MUTLU TURKUM DIYENE!! Comiserations to Hrvatska... their younger players definitely lost their confidence after the equaliser, to clearly miss the goals in a penaly shoot-out was a clear sign of that. Not worrying about Germany yet, this has been an unreal tournament for us! At very worst, we're going to equal our world cup performance of 2002! *runs off to celebrate* mtfbwya
Miltiades
WTF just happened? I was jumping 10 feet in the air after Croatia scored, then immediately sank into the ground after Turkey scored. And I could've seen it coming in the penalties: Croatia had already lost it before they even kicked on penalty. It seems I'm always rooting for the wrong teams in this tournament. I think I'll run out of teams to root for! Help!

Root for Spain, they're going to win As for the penalty shoot out, Billic bless him, should have taken a leaf out of Sir Alf Ramsey's book abd said to his players; 'You've one it fairly once and bee robbed; win it again!'
