Darth krunchy
This is another one of those topics I've seen both sides claim to be "better" and I'd like a definitive answer (if that's even possible). I guess it boils down to this: A Long and Short Lightsaber means you can use double the crystals to enhance them. A Double Saber means that the very best crystals are used in each attack, and the base damage is a tiny bit higher. As in the thread debating Flurry, Power Attack, and Critical Strike, I'd really love to see a comparison between these two different styles of fighting. Rev7
Hmmm. I personally think that Dual lightsabers are a lot more versatile than double-bladed. I'm sure that many would agree with me on that. I hope...regardless, they are more versatile because you have two regular (or a Shoto, and a regular) lightsabers. You have twice the amount of crystals. One lighsaber could be modified for extra droid damage, while the other lightsaber could be modified for non-droids. With the Two-Weapon Fighting tree, it makes them even more powerful. I really think that it comes down to preference, to tell you the truth. They both deal a large amount more damage than a single lightsaber, and are both quite powerful weapons. As for a defenative answer, I don't know how to find it, honestly. I'm sure someone will come a long and educate the both of us. I am personally a Dual Saber guy... Oh and enjoy your game. I'm sure that there are other threads like this somewhere in here... I remember talking in it...
Darth krunchy
Cool, thanks. I'm going to enjoy calling them "shotos"
Darth_Yuthura
I prefer dual lightsabers because they both could be used by a single or dual weapon character. In Kotor II, I prefer single sabers to begin with because you could stack saber attributes or have single sabers for two characters. Dual sabers cannot be used by single-weapon characters w/out sacrificing attack value. Saberstaffs have the advantage of requiring fewer upgrades and crystals for both arms, so they are more efficient. It depends on the crystals and volume of components I have. In the end, I prefer two shotos.
Burnseyy
double, hands down. duel really annoy me, because it seems like there's something missing. plus theyre supposedly stronger, and requires more 'skill.' so you know, if you're up against someone whos using double-bladed lightsabers, they must be good. Astor
What's wrong with being good? I've never preferred either of those options to be honest. I've always been a big fan of Dooku, and his mastery of Makashi (designed for single blade fencing), so i've only ever used single blades. I don't need silly double bladed gimmicks, and two sabers at once is so... beastly.

Astor
Wasn't Dooku originally meant to wield two sabers? If he was, that was when he was Nautolan, and before they picked the greatest actor of the age to play him .
adamqd
^^ The picture of Dooku with two sabers was a promo still taken during the making of AOTC, it was never even filmed, but I agree, Dooku's makashi was sweet, I always use single blade

Darth_Yuthura
Have any people ever seen a fight with escrimas? The skill required for the use of a weapon in each hand is awesome. They are the closest to two lightsabers you would find in the real world. I think that escrimas put the staff and sword to shame when used properly. I have never seen one in person (up close and personal), but I have seen it on television. They are amazing when wielded by people that know how to use them. Darth krunchy
They're a lot of fun to use... y'all should try it (I've bruised myself way too many times though!).

They are lethal - and easily the most effective melee weapon made as of yet. I'll see if I can track down a video of a sword master using a Katana on a 2ft wide tree; he cut it clean in half, and before it had dropped to the ground, he had cut it again, leaving a massive segment - was truly amazing! Astor
Further to my preference of a single blade over more, I'd even go as far to say that if you feel that you can't do it with just one blade, your not even worthy of wielding a lightsaber. After all, it's an elegant weapon, for a more civilised time.
Inyri
I use dual sabers, but not for any of the elaborate reasons you guys have mentioned. I use them because I think the animation set looks coolest out of the three options, and you know as a female I have to be most interested in aesthetics... I do like the option of having double the bonuses, though. It's always nice to have an off-hand weapon that, for instance, deals status effects will the primary one deals a powerful blow. Astor
I use them because I think the animation set looks coolest out of the three options, [/Quote] Oh sure, it does look cool... but I think i'd find it hard enough not to accidentally hit myself with one lightsaber, let alone two! Especially when your avatar seems to swing them round in motions that look incredibly difficult to maintain with any accuracy. and you know as a female I have to be most interested in aesthetics... And there I was thinking you were one of the few who wasn't shallow :.

Q
I usually use a single, but when destructive power is needed I use two singles instead of a double because the single sabers have a larger critical threat range (19-20 vs. 20-20).

It would involve being proficient with BOTH the dominant and lesser hand. A single hilt only demands the dominant side be used. If a master swordsman perfects both hands, why not use two weapons? If one saber is lost, you still have the other.

(Does of course help when you have arm muscles as big as his too ) katana are the most effective of melee weapons in terms of cutting power, but they're not very good against heavily armored opponents. They hold a sharp edge far better than any other weapon though. dual-wielding lightsabers wouldn't be nearly as hard as actual swords because lightsabers are much lighter. All the weight is in the hilt so balance isn't an issue, but that weight distribution is exactly what makes lightsabers hard to use in the first place. Bob Lion54
Pfft, there ain't nobody on this forum who isn't a bit shallow. The hole on my ass isn't shallow... It's quite deep, actually. We've had some very interesting discussions about the nature of the universe and such. I am, though. In terms of gaming, anyway. I use the two sabres just because I think it looks the coolest. Especially when you hit "x" and do the flourish thing. It's great with two sabres, but kind of dull with one or a double. Plus, I can use my favourite colour combination with two blades. Being a Louisiana boy and a football fan, I love Purple and Gold together. I always use a purple main hand sabre and a yellow offhand sabre. Also, I like to flourish my blades when I'm running into a fight. It just looks groovy.
