Guy.brush
cool! Now the sign post needs just a little depth of field blurring, parallax scrolling and maybe swaying in the wind. The ship could be rocking up and down gently too. I still find that Guybrush sprite a little young looking though. Maybe LucasArts should make 3 seperate sprites to please us anal fanboys. irishmile
those are all really great ideas and I agree... but it took long enough just to animate the clouds and water.... and I didn't do a particularly great job on those... so I will not even attempt to do more. Scummbuddy
Here's the original for comparison: And here's a smudged image by CoffeeLady over on the AGS boards: For the not-really step-by-step, check out the tutorial: CoffeeLady Smudging Tutorial But then again, that's a lot of work when they could presumably just re-scan the original painted backgrounds. irishmile
There are a lot easier ways to do it than how CoffeeLady did it. Even if they rescanned the original art there would need to be alot of work done to them.. I understand from an interview about the original art is they are marker art on a fairly small pieces of marker paper... they do not lend themselves very well to work in a big resolution... but its a great place to start. Alot of this fan stuff uses filters to blend the colors smooth and then most people here go in and touch it up. I would love to get my hands on the originals. Guy.brush
I'm gonna try out something fancy. It's gonna take a while, but might be worth a shot. Alright. Maybe 50% done. looks good. I'll have something tomorrow...in 3D

Most MI1 SE backgrounds actually have less detail than the original, even if they are in a higher resolution. Using the original art for MI2 would be more than enough. TheJoe
Irishmile... You should just do the enhanced MI2... We'd better get cracking into SCUMM a bit more, eh?
Radogol
I still find that Guybrush sprite a little young looking though. Isn't he supposed to be 19 at most?
Guy.brush
Well I imagine him being 19 in MI, then 21-23 in MI2, then maybe 25 in MI3
Radogol
Well I imagine him being 19 in MI, then 21-23 in MI2, then maybe 25 in MI3 I believe he actually says that he's "nintee... Twenty one!" in MI2
LordTrilobite
I think he was 17 or 18 in MI1 and he's definatly 19 in MI2, probably still 19 in MI3 since it follows up MI2 without much time between them.
Espiox
I'm actually pretty sure he's 20/21 in CMI, but I might remembering that wrong.
Nickelstein
SOMI-18 years old MI2-19 years old CMI-20 or 21 years old TOMI-Apparently he is in his early thirties.
Fealiks
It seems like he's a few years older in CMI for some reason, but he can't be more than a few days older than he is in MI2 (a week or two at most).
LordTrilobite
There can't be more than a year between MI2 and CMI, so 21 would make no sense.

LordTrilobite
Then he was probably nearly 20 in MI2. Btw, I'm surprized so many estimate Guybrush a lot older than he actually is
irishmile
TOMI-Apparently he is in his early thirties. He is in his late 20's in ToMI, he says in the first episode he has been having piratey adventures for the last decade, Making him about 27 or 28. Fealiks
He actually makes a sarcastic joke in Tales about how people think he's younger than he actually is: Show spoiler (hidden content - requires Javascript to show) I think Nipperkin says something along the lines of "you remind me of me when I was your age" and Guybrush says (roughly) "What was that, a few weeks ago?" rolling his eyes. I hope this stays as a running joke
