Astor
I'm sure we can all come up with examples of performers who we think could outdo the Beatles (I can think of a few), but I think we'd be mostly in agreement with the suggestion that Green Day are inferior to the Fab Four. mimartin
Sorry I wasn’t clear. I was not listing an artist I felt was better than the Beatles. I was listing an artist that was a major influence on the Beatles right down to their very name. Plus Buddy Holly was a Texan. It is mighty reckless to mess with Texas. Mim, mim, mim... This was a flame if ever I did see one?

Mandalore The Shadow
Even though the Beatles are not my favorite band by any means, they are by far one of the most, if not the most, influential and revolutionizing rock band in the history of rock/music. Thank you finally someone who understands also Green Day is an extremely long running band I think its been over 20 years
Jeff
Maybe since Beatles RB has the classic rock side of things covered they wanted a new audience with this one, but I honestly think it's somewhat insulting to the Beatles that after they made it sound like they were giving them this exclusive treatment, they are doing the same thing for Green Day. Anyone who thinks they live up to the influence of the Beatles is mad. Plus surely bands like Pink Floyd or The Who are much more deserving (or I could name dozens more than Green Day). edit: I want Audioslave/Soundgarden/Chris Cornell: Rock Band. jonathan7
I respectfully disagree It doesn't matter if you disagree or not. Fact the Beatles the biggest band ever. Fact - the Beatles are the top selling musicians of all time. Fact - the Beatles changed music FOREVER. Fact the Beatles are universally loved by pretty much all (unless you haven't heard them). Fact, the Beatles are so awesome Micheal Jackson bought there music and re-made their music, because basically you can't improve on perfection. What exactly have greenpoo done? Quanon
I don't have anything against Green Day really; I just skip these Rock Band games. They don't interest me, that's all. Can't stand people who go all SUPER OMG FAN UBER AWESOME BAND... stuff... Since they close themselfs of other great bands out there. But, méh, that kind of "wisdom" sinks in later. When I was 15 I found Iced Earth and Iron Maiden, THE BEST AND ONLY THE BEST MUSIC EVEAAAAAAAARRRR! They're not. >_<
Darth InSidious
Fact - the Beatles changed music FOREVER. You got it right up to here. The Beatles were a mediocre pop group who changed mediocre pop groups (and mediocre pop music commentators) forever. Fact the Beatles are universally loved by pretty much all (unless you haven't heard them). Also not true, I'm afraid. Here's a couple of fun facts for ya, though: 1. John Lennon was a wife-beating hypocrite, who (2.) morally browbeat others over having possessions while a millionaire living in a mansion outside New York. 3. Imagine is banal claptrap with meaninglessly wittery, bien-pensant lyrics, and is of less interest musically than the average nursery rhyme. The moral of the story, folks: don't believe the hype. jonathan7
You got it right up to here. The Beatles were a mediocre pop group who changed mediocre pop groups (and mediocre pop music commentators) forever. No, I stand by my statements Also not true, I'm afraid. You and Niner, don't, don't count! I agree with all three of these, but I'm unsure how this effects the quality of his music. Example; Bertrand Russell was a horrible nasty person (as a most philosophers); doesn't stop him being a genius. The moral of the story, folks: don't believe the hype. The Beatles, aren't my favourite band, but I still stand by what I said In agreement with the above statement Green Day changed music forever not the beatles (not worthy of capitolization) What frickin planet are you from? Mandalore The Shadow
No, I stand by my statements Ok I agree with all three of these, but I'm unsure how this effects the quality of his music. Well if you were paying attention the third one directly relates to music The Beatles, aren't my favourite band, but I still stand by what I said Ok so why are you defending them so much What frickin planet are you from? How on Earth have Greenday changed anything? And are you so naive you didn't even realise that DI's post was a subtle jab at Greenday, as well as being a slating of John Lennon. I did realize this but I chose to ignore that and focus on the insult on John Lennon. jonathan7
Well if you were paying attention the third one directly relates to music One song? I assure you I can direct you to more than one bad Greenday song - infact all 20 Greenday songs I'm unfortunate enough to have on my computer suck. Ok so why are you defending them so much. Because I defend the TRUTH - which always seems currently to be a sad casulty in the patently absurd assertion that Greenday are "better" than the Beatles. Now, my favourite band are the Eagles, I prefer them to the Beatles - I'd choose to listen to them over the Beatles - that does not however mean they are a "better" band or more influential than the Beatles. The simple fact is Greenday would in all likely hood not be able to produce the music they do without the Beatles influence. Because being really really silly. I have stated FACTS, you have nothing to argue with; you may think Greenday are the best band in the world that is your OPINION. However, the majority of sales PROVE the Beatles are a far more loved band, and many musicians (Darathy excluded) consider the Beatles the greatest band ever; no musician I have ever heard of has claimed that of Greenday. I did realize this but I chose to ignore that and focus on the insult on John Lennon. Great. Because Billie Joe Armstrong is so much better being a drink driver, and indeed I'm sure you'll actually not like the fact he's bisexual - does this effect his music? Green Day Examples: Bringing Punk music foreword Green Day has 8 studio albums so far not to mention live albums and EPs how many do the Beatles have? That's just laughable and mediocre in the fact of what the Beatles have achieved, frankly I don't see how anyone who follows reason, can logically deduce that Greenday, either "changed" music or are "better" than the Beatles. I'd be willing to bet on pretty much any category you choose to pick, the Beatles will have done better than Greenday. How many songs in all I think that Green Day has over 150 This post just smacks of you not having a clue who the Beatles are or what they have achieved while making illogical, unsubstantiated claims as to Greendays influence. You could begin by reading this about the Beatle;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles
Astor
How many songs in all I think that Green Day has over 150 I'd rather not get into a 'who has more' match, but I believe it's about 310 in total, all within a 10-15 year period.

Green Day is not my favorite band but I defend them as you do and I'm sure they could have Neither are meaningless hypotheticals arguments. They didn't: the Beatles did. What they might have done is irrelevant. I don't care he is bisexual I knew that and I actually like him more for it Oh, so you're prejudiced against straight people? That's charming. Ok what did the beatles do for Punk music? Nothing, but that's irrelevant since neither did a populist and equally-mediocre group; despite your insistence, The Sex Pistols they aren't. They're hardly punk at all except in the most general sense. All this is, of course, quite apart from punk being utter ****e.
jrrtoken
On second thought, I'd have to admit that true innovator of 20th century music would be none other than Luigi Russolo, superstar of raunchiness, vast watershed of pomp & circumstance. Lennon and Armstrong are nothing more than poseurs compared to this magnanimous gentleman.

Poppycock, sir, utter poppycock. Russolo is a mere paper tiger, a sham, a witless amateur. No, it must be universally accepted and acclaimed that the master is none other than Charles-Marie Widor himself! Come, I shall brook no opposition in this. There can be no more ingenious master of counterpoint, no finer control of col legno, no greater refinement of the symphony than that of Widor. Sir, if there is a poseur it is you.
