Yes, the secret is finally out, even though some of you never knew there was a secret to begin with. This is the secret project I’ve told a few of you about, and a few of you know about due to your involvement with it. Essentially, this mod will restore Dustil to KotOR 2, though how much he does in-game will be dependent on which version you choose to install. Before I get into that, however, I’d like to give a brief background on the project just to give credit where credit is due.

Initial work began in 2011, with myself and Darth Snard as the only people working on it. It had been decided at the time that Darth Snard would provide the voice overs. Yet, over the course of a few months, we both agreed that he didn’t really fit the character and he decided to leave the project altogether to pursue his own ventures. Thus, I turned to the ever-reliable Zhaboka, who churned out an excellent performance, despite my constant rewrites.

Even with the addition of Zhaboka and the departure of Snard, not much work went into the project. I did a few things here and there, sent a script or two off to Zhaboka, but it wasn’t until August of 2012 that work began in earnest. And then after August, work dropped off considerably, hence why it is a year later that I am presenting this to you. I barely worked on it from September to November, did a bit in December and January and then again put it off from February to May. Finally, in June of this year, I decided to finish the project up. And over the course of the summer I’ve done just that.

My beta testers, thank you to Zhaboka, Sith Holocron and Paddy Garcia, are doing their final run-throughs, as am I, and each day brings the mod closer to a releasable state.

So back to the level of restoration. The mod is setup to have two different installation options; one option, the added content installation, will restore Dustil to the game with new content written by me to make his part more noteworthy, and last longer. The second option, the pure restoration installation, will restore Dustil as close to what was found in the game files as possible. No “new” content will be added with this option, aside from Dustil’s voice overs (none were ever recorded for him) and a few camera angles.

Anyway, long story short, this mod will restore Dustil and should be released, as the trailer says, in September of this year.

Mother of god........makes me wonder what other secret projects are going on behind the scenes!

This looks fantastic FG! I have found a place for all your mods; this one will be no exception.

As far as the pure restoration installation option is concerned, Princess Artemis made one years ago. Have you played it? If so, how will your restoration be different?

Thanks milestails. The pure restoration will differ from Princess Artemis' mostly due to the fact it's voiced - that and I included some cameras, and possibly a few animations, that Princess Artemis didn't.

Good stuff. Will be a must-have!

You have no idea how much of a tease this is to me. TSL hates my computer. If anything, after this, I hope someone churns out a gameplay video of this.

Oh well, I'll be honest amidst this torment... this is fantastic.

Ooh what a great surprise!

Looks good FG!!! Glad to see you found your way to finishing it.

Perma-download

That scream.......

Can't wait for it, looks like a horror movie teaser.

Excellent, Fallen Guardian!

Congratulations!

Thanks, all of you.

Will it be compatible with TSLRCM and M4-78EP?

Yeah, as SH said, it will be. There were actually a few files where I had to design the TSL Patcher under the assumption the player was using TSLRCM. It'll still be compatible with a non-TSLRCM game, of course. A few extra steps, that are described in the ReadMe, will need to be taken for non-TSLRCM games after the TSL Patcher is done, however.

They restored a part of this (basically just Dustil's presence in the tomb, and your subsequent battle with him) in K2RP, but I never liked it. Aside from the fact that it used a voice recording of poor quality and the actor's acting abilities were very much lacking (and the fact that he mispronounced "Dustil"), I just find that it cheapens Dustil's character in the first game, who found redemption when he found it in his heart to forgive his father, Carth.

But good luck with this project, though.

Disclaimer: He's not supposed to sound exactly like Jason Marsden did in K1. He's older, more weathered, and more crazy. Just thought I might try to spare myself having to read ten million comments on the impression.

Good point - which brings me to another point that he should look way younger in Kotor 1 according to that voice. I know there's a mod for it.

^They didn't really think too much about it did they? Dustil is in his late teens possibly early twenties and is fathered by Carth whom you'd assume is at least twenty years older than Dustil making Carth quite a bit older than Revan which sort of kills the Female Revan/Carth Romance.

That's right so long as we don't assume that Carth like rocking the cradle...
