good to see that some1 agrees with me. and whats up with all these boy/girl band group members doin their own solo album? for example, nick carter of Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake of Nsync, Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child, Beyonce Knowles of Destiny's Child, etc.......its really stupid. it must be some kind of boring idiotic phase or somethin. hope it ends soon.

i agree. it annoys me how the manufactored pop princesses are all collaborating w/ rap producers to sound urban. They are teenyboppers, thats it. Vocally, they are nothing, its all machine altering. However, they are pretty hot.

Oh yeah, the guy who wrote POP sucks, I agree, but thats not what this thread is about

Phantom Helix, i totally disagree with you. first of all alicia keys is a jazz/r&b singer so that falls with the whole hip hop gender. so i don't see anthing wrong with her teaming up with eve.

second, music is universal man. whats wrong with mixing things up. if you think about it every style of music got their influence from other other types of music. so don't be so narrow minded when you are dealing with music.

i mean i'm a hip hop listener myself and i didn't think of justin converting to hip hop a bad thing. i really like the song to tell you the truth, like the beat man its very catchy.

I feel what your saying on the talent level. I however do not need "clean" videos. Women are constantly called whores, sluts, etc. for being open with their sexuality. If a dude has a vidoe where he's got chicks all over him you all don't freak.

Women have the same rights as men, its time we stop with the double standard.

Fact is I think all of you are buggin because the clean wholesome angle is what you like in women, not because their is anything wrong with not bring that way. So basically you are mad because what they are doing lately doesn't get your motor runnin, how disgusting of you.

No, let's not have a double standard, one is good enough. I hate those videos with guys surrounded by scantily clad women as well(which generally happen to also be pop videos...", because they're doing the exact same thing. I'm not trying to be the great champion of justice or anything, but as you said, I think women have the same rights. The right to to be treated like a person, instead of a piece of meat to be oogled at, is one of them. But unfortunately, as long as they rely on sex appeal to sell their music, and not their talent, they probably won't be treated as such. Also, I'm sure that half of those singers, don't dress like that because they want to, but because they're told to, but they can still refuse to if they wish, they just don't.

I have no problem with women being open about their sexuality, in fact I encourage it. They've been sexually repressed for centuries, often being forced to wear skimpy clothes while singing and dancing for us men(sounds familiar doesn't it...). I respect women, and treat them as equal, but some of the responses I've seen, as Leemu pointed out, don't show that same respect. The problem I have, is with people running around, screwing anything that moves. Notice I said people, I can't stand girlsand guys that do this, not just one. Sex is meant to be a little more "special" than that...

The thing that I have a problem with, is that they are using sex to sell their music, but unfortunately, this seems to be the way of the world now. These are people that young children look up to and admire, and I'm not sure the morals these people are presenting are very suitable for people their age. I've seen 11 and 12 year old girls walking around town wearing tank tops and the like, which is just plain strange. That never happened when I was that age, and it just doesn't seem "appropriate". However, when they're old enough, you know, 15, 16, 17, they can wear what they want, but as I said, seeing them wearing it at that age is somewhat disturbing. Makes me wonder where society is headed...

It seems on this we agree to disagree FatalStrike, but I must say, that last part was over the top. Last time I checked, I was allowed to have an opinion, and not be flamed because of it. You of all people should understand that. I am not mad because it "doesn't get my motor running" as you so eloquently put it, I am mad because she's making a trade off of her singing talent for sex appeal, and that to me is sad. So if that makes me disgusting, then so be it.

EDIT: I also like Sheryl Crow, just forgot to mention her in my last post, so mark me down for the fan club too.:D

watch fightclub recently man? hehe, on to the topic. i agree with alot of what you say and am ashamed to admit that i do watch all three of their videos (though rarely with the volume on). im a teenage guy and its completely natural to want to look, if they're putting on a show ill watch it. i dont think that its good for society to have these people held up as idols for impressionable young girls but part of me enjoys it. its wrong and i know it but i will continue to check muchmusic (canadian version of Mtv) in hopes of catching one of their new videos.

a few points id like to bring up though. i have never heard of a single artist who made it big without selling out in some form or another. we've all heard (well some of us anyway) about the former classmates and friends of these stars. they are either still friends or they have harsh words to say about them. because if its not an insult or a commentary by a currently close friend of the star then it wont be newsworthy. at christina aguileras prom when her song came on (genie in a bottle i believe) nearly everyone (or everyone in total not positive) walked off the dancefloor and sat down.

i know that i wouldnt be the nicest of people after that either. i cannot say whether or not these people are nice in real life or not but chances are that if we hear it, or read about it then its going to be something negative about them.

as for Jlo i really dont know much about her, i have respect for her acting talent (what little ive seen is better then anything i could do). and her voice is alot nice then mine (im still in that awkward phase where voice cracks happen constantly :D ).

Christina aguilera i know very little about as well, but her voice is very good and that deserves some respect. you wouldnt catch me walking down the street with her cd in my discperson but you have to recognize that latent talent.

as for britney, well we've all seen a concert (or clip of one) of her. her voice sounds terrible in those doesnt it? well i imagine that thats because shes running around thrusting herself at various different objects. you try running around those stages and dancing while keeping up with the song.

being in the spotlight changes a person, theres no doubt about that. Try and imagine how showbusiness would affect your life before judging theres.

in my opinion britney is the prettiest while christina has the best voice and Jlo is the best actress.

in closing im not saying that these ppl are bad (or good) people. im just hoping that you will cut them a little slack on account of their fame. fame may seem great to us but i think it would get pretty lonely. and very difficult for somebody in the early stages of their lives (maybe Jlo didnt have this problem but Christina had hell at highschool because of her fame).

I choose Pink. Pink is much better looking than all 3 of the forementioned put together. Here Christina Aguilera says to the press back in 2001 about how her music will reflect her personality, and that she likes the fame, and the respect, and look at the trampiness in her now.

And with Spears.. Don't even get me started. A) She said before her Las Vegas show that people need to realize that she is no longer a teenage girl, and she will dress however she wants.. Well, all I can say is, Can't blame Justin for dumpin ya. And I don't buy it that they say that they will get back together. And also, Spears said in an interview about how she is sad over her break-up with Justin, and how her parents are getting divorced, and that she is depressed about being lonely... Well, don't expect to get any sympathy from me. as far as I am concerned, Spears can go homeless, lose her voice, have her fake breasts leak, whatever... and J-lo... Just as bad as Aguilera.

So my vote is against all 3.. I think they are all trashy, and that they need to really grow-up and get out of the damn attitude spree that they are in.

Jeezum Crow! I really HATE these stupid threads!

Both girls are bubble gum junior harlets and don't have the intellectual capacity to light a gas powered grill.

If it's female artists, I guess I will go with Sheryl Crow. She's very pretty and her music is entertaining. On that same level so is Tori Amos.

well, i suppose they are allowed to mix up the music, but pop music is stupid from the beginning, and teaming up just shows that they are so awful and so desperate that they have to team up with a good musician just to get somewhere. some pop music is good, but most of it is just bad singing heavily modified by computer effects, which gets really annoying.

dont get me wrong. some pop artists are good. madonna is a really good singer, and doesn't use much computer effects. justin timberlakes new song's beat is pretty catchy, and the song is pretty good, but those are exceptions. also, madonna is basically delving into rock in her music. if uve seen her new video for Die Another Day, then u will kno what i mean. in the video, she gets cut along her stomach, and bleeds a little. i guarentee that no pop artist does that other than her. also, her video is gritty and stuff, way different than any other pop artist. i understand they have a right to make their music, and i dont deny that, i just severely dislike it.
