Hekx
Yoda My PC is AMD Athlon, even though at one point it said it was Intel processor III; I even have a non-working control panel extenstion for Intel Intel has those funky Blue men, but my PC is still alive and it's AMD, so it's a draw. FatalStrike
I'm leaning towards Intel which runs uses less power and thus runs at a lower temp then the AMD. Thus I would need a smaller power supply and a less noisey fan. SO far I have this that I am getting... Asus P4S8X SiS 648 P4 Motherboard Corsair 512MB (maybe 1 gig) Intel P4 2.4 Ghz 533Mhz FSB let me know if you have suggestions
Darth Homer
highlight Jedi_Anakin_S post, paste AMD. Intel is overpriced, and sucks. done. that's pretty much my sentiment too...AMD is more stable than Intel & costs less
Elijah
I Have an AMD in 1 comp and a PIII in the other... My Vote'll have to go to the AMD!

Clem
Right ..... power consumption is of little matter ..... heat the same (as long as they dont cook ... which they dont) and speed difference is neglectable AMD's cost roughly 1/2 the price therefore my vote goes to AMD all the way also Intel ads lie!!!!!!!! (saying that a p4 will give u faster net!)

Most of what is promised by the processors are destroyed by crappy Motherboards, Low quality Ram, low amount of Ram, and various other parts that are not advertised as much as they should be. However you are right the P4 will not give you faster internet.
Darth Talliusc
well im not sure which i would prefer to have but since ive had ALOT of problems with the intel ads on this site not allowing me to post until/unless i give it a first name and an e-mail address i have to say this: INTEL IS CRAP! DONT BUY IT FOR IT IS EVIL EVIL EVIL!!!! IT EATS YOUR COMPUTER AND SAYS THAT ITS UPGRADING IT. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OF INTEL. START THE BOYCOTTING NOW NOW NOW!!! please note that i dont actually care about intel vs amd but im mad and easily swayed by anger .
StormHammer
I'll have to go for Intel. I've got an AMD-based PC at the moment, and I've had nothing but problems with it from day one. It's not so bad at the moment...so I think the VIA chipset on my last MoBo was a major culprit...but there are still some niggles. Before this PC, I always had Intel-based PC's, and I have to give them their due, they were all solid pieces of kit, and I never had to call out an engineer to sort out any problems. The only things that went wrong with those machines was a direct result of my fiddling around, which I could always unfiddle. So, I'd rate Intel higher in the stability stakes, and for that reason more than any other, I vote Intel. You can guess what my next PC will be based on...
