I don't necessarily agree with the rankings in that list, but for the most part, I think the actual films are worthy :)

Ans as for ANH being the only Star Wars film on there, I think that's perfectly reasonable... Not everyody is as fanatic about SW as we are, even if we'd like to think so... :D

"Star Wars" was so revolutionary in its day, that it definitely deserves to be up there... If we had ESB and RotJ on the list, too, we'd have to shunt off two other great films to make space... Just be happy that SW got a mention at all :p:D

*edit* Rhett, you're disgusting :p:D

I didn't actually notice that one wasn't on there... Shame :(

Btw, Rhett, what happened to your italics? ...You're just bold now... ='(

the sound of music does nothing for me,

half of that list i haven't seen, and are unlikely to

the godfather II is as good as the first (if not better) but certainly not 30 places apart.

also i have seen many "which is your favorite star wars ep?" polls and ANH always comes in last.

but i do agree with Wacky that Star Wars ANH was revolutionary in its day and that's why it got the recognition

in ten years time the list will look alot different imo

I hate, HATE these lists. They're so damn stupid.

First; who the hell has seen all movies ever made? No-one!

1) How can you ask a guy which is better, the Matrix or the Silence of the lambs if he has only seen the Matrix?! Asking the opinion of a someone who is ignorant is just stupid.

2) How can you say which movie is better, if the other one is f.ex. a Jet Li Kungu Fu-flick, and the other something like Schindler's list? They're not comparable. Comparing flicks of totally different genres is just stupid.

3) People have different tastes. I might like Braindead, not Gone with the wind. Which movie is better? I say Braindead 'cause watching that is more entertaining for me PERSONALLY. Does the fact that some movie got five stars make it any more fun for me to watch it? Of course not! A movie is good ONLY if *I* think so.

4) Just because a movie is 50 years old, it doesn't mean that it is any better. I *hate* the fact that crappy flicks that would never ever even make their way to the theaters these days, are considered to be the best movies of all-time because the movie WAS awesome according to the standards of 1912! That's so stupid!

ARGH! :swear:

AAARRGGHH!

Lists like this people should just ignore. This is just for diehard critic fanatics to whit there appetites, who have to absoulutely have to have there opinion's from their favourite "respected" critic, who are to biased anyways. But i'm sure even the critics would say there is WAYYYYYY to many good movies in the world to include them, in a small top 100 list. Maybe they should revise it into something more realistic like the top 500 movies. Even then that's still not a satisfying number to please all the masses.

The only beef I had with the first AND second list is the lack of comedys. I mean most comedys are the best movies ever made and they are VERY lacking. Where's for example Dumb and Dumber??? See because it didn't have a world class plot, or directing, or costume design, yadda, yadda, it gets omitted because it's just simply hilarious. I mean they could've at least put an intellegent comedy like As Good as it Gets up there. But oh well critics are critics for a reason so i'll leave it at that.....
