kilohoku Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 I once heard that in one of the versions of MI2 there was a swordfish or something like that hanging above the door in the woodsmith's shop. I was wondering: 1. Is this true and if so 2. Does anybody have a screenshot of it?
Alien426 Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 I faintly remember seeing a swordfish on a wall somewhere in MI2. But I'll have to go check... unless somebody else is faster.
scabb Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 I think I recall a swordfish being in the Chef's kitchen, at the governors mansion on Booty Island.
Remi Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 I did a very quick lookthrough MI2 using SCUMMRev and couldn't find anything like that. Could still be in there somewhere of course, but I can't recall seeing it.
ThunderPeel2001 Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 Hehe! Well spotted!! It was in the Amiga version and it wasn't a swordfish! http://www.geocities.com/streetfightergeek@sbcglobal.net/Woodsmith-Amiga.gif http://www.geocities.com/streetfightergeek@sbcglobal.net/Woodsmith-PC.gif There are a few more subtle differences between the versions, maybe I'll make a complete list of them one day (like the missing jokes from the PC version!) ~ Johnny
ThunderPeel2001 Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 It's just odd. It's not in the PC version, but it's in the Amiga version. I wonder if it's in the Mac version? For those who missed it... see! http://www.geocities.com/streetfightergeek@sbcglobal.net/MI2-Fish2.gif Isn't it amazing? No? Oh, well. ~ Johnny PS - Can everyone see the image now?
Lemon Head Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 thunderpeel, i don't know if it's just me, but none of the pictures you've posted work
Benny Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 Nope they dont. Perhaps geocities dont allow offsite linking, I dunno.
Lemon Head Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 oh, if they're geocities pics then that's exactly what the problem is, what a sleuth you are benny!
Huz Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 You need to copy and paste the links, thanks to GeoCities' rankness. I thought you people would know these things by now. You ARE using the 'show images as links' option in your User CP, of course?
Lemon Head Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 pffft, if i did things because they were the most sensible option, i wouldn't have nearly as much fun as i do
ThunderPeel2001 Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 Thanks for the heads up! Can people click on them now? ~ Johnny
Lemon Head Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 The thing i want to know is, why would anyone edit out a fish?
scabb Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 Maybe they just forgot to not edit out the fish.
ThunderPeel2001 Posted February 8, 2003 Posted February 8, 2003 Thanks Remio! (Damned Geocities ) ~ Johnny
Joshi Posted February 8, 2003 Posted February 8, 2003 they obviously didn't want all attention to go to the fish. i mean, look at it, it's eye catching, you'd play the game all the while thinking 'i wonder what the fish is up to'. no, for the good of the game, they had to edit it out.
Gabez Posted February 9, 2003 Posted February 9, 2003 Mm, does anyone know if you can interact with the fish at all? And isn’t the Amiga version supposed to be the one with the less objects?
Benny Posted February 9, 2003 Posted February 9, 2003 No, you cant interact with the fish, its just scenery.
Remi Posted February 9, 2003 Posted February 9, 2003 In general the Amiga does have less details, but some things snuck in that wasn't in the PC version. The Amiga version was released later, so maybe they had some time to add un-finished art?
Lemon Head Posted February 9, 2003 Posted February 9, 2003 i think it's simply yet another randomization from the brain pain of lucas arts
