  1. In less than one month we will all be learning the Secret of Monkey Island. That’s such a surreal feeling.

  2. I pre-ordered both, as that is just the journalistic integrity the people expect from Mojo.

  3. I was thinking more of John Hancock shivering looking like this poor unfortunate soul. And... After 10 years, we all will finally be able to play the next game in the series by the original creators on September 16th. I'm talking of course about "Space Venture" from the makers of Space Quest. Undercutting some silly pirate adventure game release day by 3 days. But really, their Kickstarter campaign for Space Venture started over 10 years ago, and they spent the last two years on the Save-Load system if you were to take their spaced-out updates as any indication. While I've never played a Space Quest game beyond a few minutes, I did back their campaign. There have been plenty of backer complaints throughout the years. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/spaceventure/two-guys-spaceventure-by-the-creators-of-space-que/posts/3590050 I'm so happy that we haven't been dragged through ten years of a Kickstarter campaign to get our hands on another Monkey Island.

  4. Possible responses to using the Horse Armor: "I want to keep it in mint condition." "It's not my size." "It's out of gas." "They can get their own armor." "That's not a horse!" "I don't think it's fungible." "Nope. But I hope it was worth it for you." "Hey, there's a hidden compartment here. I think I can get it open..." <Install Update 22> <Update Not Found>

  5. I think you're probably okay? I checked the spec of a 2015 macbook pro against those graphics card requirements and it came out comparable: I couldn't find anything to directly compare the cards, but I reckon if your system has a bottleneck it'll be the graphics card. I think you'll get away with it though. Disclaimer: I dunno, really but it looks OK to me.

  6. I really wish the other games were in a collection on Switch.

  7. Return to Monkey Island is the #10 top seller on Steam, which I think is about where I thought it would be. We're still a niche, and it's probably not going to set the world on fire but it's going to do okay. The currently heavily discounted Monkey Island Collection has snuck into the top 100 too, so there are at least some people who either want a refresher on the series or who have decided to play it for the first time.

  8. I chose PC, but I don't think it's the only way to play an adventure game, I'd just like to play this with a mouse, the first time. Also, my games PC is hooked up to my TV, as is my Switch so that doesn't make any difference to my choice - it's not like I'll be playing it in handheld mode so I might as well get the version that'll run in higher resolution and support more control modes.

  9. I'm not sure if this has already been discussed but is this the same guy?

  10. I'm a switch gamer, baby! I spend each and every working day on my computer, so gaming is mostly a sofa deal for me. I played Thimbleweed Park on Switch too and it was a blast (played it mostly on handheld mode, because of the touch screen controls). If When it releases physically I'll be getting the PC version though, because I own every other Monkey Island game on PC. Edit: Just pre-ordered it, that horse armour is MINE!!

  11. PC would be my first choice but I don't think my laptop will be up to the job, so I'll have to default to Switch. I've got a modest 32" TV so I'll probably play in handheld mode... or move the sofa closer.

  12. I don't think they are for the reasons others have pointed out but, even if they were, there's honestly nothing wrong with that. One last ramp up for the game, especially with Ron going to PAX, makes perfect sense. This game was only announced four and a half months ago, so honestly the fact we are getting it less than a month from right now is a pretty great deal and for only $25.

  13. Most likely reason is the game is done (or very much done other than final QA bashing on the game to break it) but there is hangtime in between while they go through final console certification for Switch, including leaving space for time to ship and certify a patch. That’s honestly just a guess, but is the ideal time to leave these days so you can get through cert with a predictable release date and also have time to get any last minute issues stamped out too.

  16. I don't even know how that happened, but I'll take it 👕 I beat #Mojole #155 and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 3/6 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 💚💚💚💚💚 https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/

  18. I also backed that Kickstarter. I'm far more sanguine about the whole affair. Some Kickstarters don't amount to anything. I'm amazed they bothered to finish the game at all. EDIT: Actually it just struck me. All Kickstarters launched before 2014 are legally bound to deliver their rewards... maybe that's what's going on. That's what happened with the David Lynch: Art Life documentary I funded. They makers got 600% the money than they asked for. And then signed with Criterion as an extra bonus. I backed $50 for a "Special Edition DVD" with exclusive backer extras. Then after it finished and they had all our money: Barely any communication. And no exclusive special edition DVD. After much complaints, we eventually received a printed-at-home DVD in a plastic slipcase with zero extra features, and a picture quality so poor you couldn't even read the credits. Just enough to legally fulfil their obligations... Those guys are assholes. I digress. In other news, TT have an answer to every question you have:

  19. I’m torn, it almost feels sacrilegious to not have my first playthrough be on the PC like the previous 5 games. On the other hand, I’ll get Monkey Island on the go (excluding previous iOS editions/Steam Deck). What the heck, I’ll probably end up getting both.

  20. Does anyone else get DOTT vibes from this guy?

  21. My guess about a boxed version is that it will ultimately happen, but as a boutique thing through Limited Run or iam8bit well after the fact, Psychonauts 2 style.

  25. Interesting! Hmm… I don’t think so (because why would he be?), but he certainly looks very similar.

  26. I'll play it on my mac (mostly because I don't have a Switch and don't intend on buying one) I'll certainly try the controller support though, and maybe go back and forth to see how it feels, but I'll probably end up using the mouse controls

  27. Perfect release date. Of course, I would love to have it sooner, but hey, we've still got Monkey Island Mondays until then (I hope!). I got a prepaid post office MasterCard months ago specifically to buy this when the time came. Got it as soon as it became available! That little clip of Elaine is interesting, it really is looking like she might be playable, though of course they could've just cut Guybrush out of the clip (Wally was by himself in the Gameplay trailer). It looks like she might be on top of the cliff on Monkey Island where we shot the catapult, just the framing is different. I'm really excited to playing a new Monkey Island game without having to worry about system specs too, back when Tales came out I couldn't afford a proper gaming PC and was stuck with an old laptop playing it on quality level 1 on a low resolution. Now I can enjoy Return on my 4K TV on Max settings, yeah baby!

  37. I'm probably going to take a breather from all things Monkey Island and avoid future Monkey Island Mondays, want to go in as blind as possible. I'll be back on when we are days from release 😁 see you all soon!

  38. I've just realised from the system specs on Steam that there's very little chance of my laptop being able to run the game. Switch version it is, I guess.
