It would be funny if Stan's jacket is some sort of voodoo knick-knack which turns the wearer into a fast talking obnoxious sales person! That way we'd get a totally unique new LeChuck which is annoying as hell!

16 year old you is excused, Jake. I think/hope that’s not the only stupid thing you did at that age. 😉 Anyway, to me RtMI/ReMI doesn’t have to pare with the SE’s in any way. Don’t get me started on THOSE art styles or production values. To me they can pretty much begin with a blanc slate if that’s the game they want to make. I’m curious to what they’ll do with the start of the game at Big Whoop, but even that’s optional for me. Making a sequel to a 5 part game saga tends to let you start with a lot of baggage that can drag a story down. Freeing yourself from that baggage must feel really liberating, although I’m sure some fan(atic)s (thanks for the reminder) would disagree.

Whoa! What a great find! I love these weird undetailed drawings of the characters! LeChuck's zombie form is obviously based on the Steve Purcell cover of MI2, except he doesn't know where to stick the needle! Weird seeing the designs for the Voodoo Lady and Carla as white. Were the sprites in the game changed too? And is the guy on the lower left of the second page supposed to be Stan??? Where's his signature coat?

It makes me sad that some people are bringing up their quarrels with the art style AGAIN! It's like they were just waiting for the comments to open up again to continue spitting their bile. Some people never learn... 🙄 Most of the comments are positive though, I hope it stays that way. Otherwise, if I were Ron, I'd just close the whole comment section down until after the game is released.

I’m more of a lanky CMI guy, but I still saw your ‘way of life’ in MI2. 😉 I like your story about how he finds the coat and boots. I want to add to it that he puts them on because “that’s how mighty pirate’s are supposed to look”, without realising he just looks like a boy in grandpa’s coat.

I’ve always interpreted it like this too. It not only toys with the ‘kid in grownup clothes’ idea, but it definitely states that Guybrush is a guy who’s meddling with things that are too ‘big’ for him. Edit: I thought that Guybrush was drawn for the SE too. Didn’t know it was Chan’s work. Not really a fan of it.

This and exactly this! Couldn’t have put it better myself. Just focus on writing a good story. I don’t know if anyone’s interested in the works of Carl Barks and Don Rosa, but if you read the Carl Barks stories, he has such a wonderful free style of writing, which has story above all. If Donald Duck needs a second story to his house for a comic, he just has one. No need to explain it. It’s fun to read the Don Rosa comics too, because they came after the Barks comics and try to make an interwoven story of it (especially the Scrooge stories). They’re great comics in their own right, but he sometimes writes himself into corners, because he tries to make “canon” out of it. Back on topic: Gee, isn’t Monkey Island swell?

Maybe in RtMI Jojo goes to the International House of Mojo and transforms into... MOJO JOJO!!!

Ehm... I seemed to get my Jojo's mixed up two posts ago. So there were three Jojo's and a Timmy, right? Jojo sr. was the monkey hanging from the totem pole in MI1. Jojo is the piano playing monkey from part 2, and Jojo Jr. is Jojo sr.'s son in EMI... I thought Jojo sr. was the one in the picture on Twitter, but it seems to be Jojo the piano playing monkey. Guybrush could go back to the waterfall faucet and finally free him from his trance...

By the way, wasn't it revealed that the guy who voiced Stan in TMI also voices him in this game? That means we can scratch him off our lists, right? That leaves the Voodoo Lady and Jojo the monkey. My bet is still on Jojo.

This could also be his sales persona bluffing his way through. If Guybrush would’ve said any other name he’d react the same because he wants that sale! (Even though he’s not selling anything yet at that point, but than again, it’s his whole personality.)

I still don’t see it (wonky browser settings?), but thanks anyway. I finally found it on Google! My best guess is Jojo the Monkey. Since he died before EMI and they’re trying to adhere to canon. (But all other characters are way more interesting to speculate upon.) I’d doubt that. He’s the recurring villain! Plus, it would mean they can’t use him in any game anymore, because Boen is not likely to come out of retirement. That, and considering the ending of Monkey Island 2, it’s hard to start off on that note without LeChuck (or Chuckie) in it. Plus, we hear LeChuck’s theme in the teaser trailer ánd it’s his ship sitting in port. It’s much more likely to be Stan or the Voodoo Lady. Stan is in the coffin, so that would be logical, but he could be in it if we get a time shift. The Voodoo lady makes even more sense since it’s already established in CMI that she hasn’t seen Guybrush since MI2, and that she has an agenda at the end of TMI that they might not want to delve into with this game.
