ohhhhhhh i've had braces for 2 years. it sucks and my ortho is f****** stupid and his interns too. every time i go to get them checked, i come back with a cut or a fat lip and bleeding. it sux seriously. worst decision i've ever made was to get braces. i don't have long to go now, maybe a month, but yeah i feel the pain. there would be days when i couldn't eat nothin but pudding and soup, it's good but it gets tiring after a year.

I used to have braces back when I was in elementary school. Be careful, orthodontists are like chiropractors. (sp?) They'll tweak them only a tiny bit from time to time so they can siphon as much money from their patients as possible. (at least, that's how my orthodontist was)

I remember after having to go through three years of wearing braces and retainers, three years of having sore jaws and losing my lunch when they stuck fingers too far down my mouth, (I had a very bad gag reflex when I was little) they tried to have me go through three more years by saying I had to go through the "second phase." My overbite was fixed, but they wanted to give me perfect teeth, because we all know good teeth are essential for wooing the ladies. I refused, since my teeth looked fine to me.

Beware the "second phase," don't fall for it!

Do you watch the Brittish comedy called, "Father Ted"?

Anyway, to get back on subject, Braces suck!!!!! My two older brothers, my sister and I had to get braces. My younger brother never had to get them, and everyone but my sister is done with their braces. I'm still wearing a retainer and my sister gets her braces off at her next appointment. She will have to get braces again once all her permanent teeth have grown in.

I had them for 18 months. And they said 18 months that they would be on. So if you listen to the ortho on what to do, do it. Not just do it but religiously. It's worth it. The bad thing is getting them tightened and you won't be able to eat for a day or two of hard chewy food.

I've had braces twice in my life. I got braces without rubber bands in 2nd grade through 4th, and wore permanent retainers until 6th. Then I got braces during that year, and now I have to wear rubber bands. They hurt like heck. The rubber bands do... the braces don't annoy me anymore though. Braces are a waste of time to maintain. grrr

HA! I had my braces when I was in Junior High...about...errr...11 years ago ... I had them on all three years. And back then they had these cages, literally cages, that you had to put a key in every night and lay on the floor while your mom tightend the cage, very very painful... and huge (man I sound like grandpa Simpson  ). You are lucky, keep that in mind

now to ramble just like Abe should... Back then there was no television we had to find fun for ourselves, and we once rode a jeep down to the lake and crashed and saw this racoon with a Nazi sign on his vest, now I never reason with a racoon let alone a Nazi one...

The same thing happened to me, a while back. It didn't hurt much though... until they took it out. Had to use oral anesthetic for a while.

Darn it, I have to wait 3 more years to take off my braces (hopefully sooner), AND I have to wear a retainer for the remainder of my life... GRRRRRR

I am in my "second phase" of orthodontics. Hey braces are fine with me as long as they don't hurt.
