You just got back, and I'm just leaving. =(

I'll be gone for a few days because I'm going on vacation. (North Carolina)

Welcome back, and I look forward to reading about your trip when I get back :D

Ok... sorry I haven't posted the thing about my trip yet... I wasn't feeling too good the last few days...

Anyways... I had a blast. I also had a very important job... only my dad and I knew Spanish and English...

I had to translate for the entire 40 person group... no pressure... considering the pastor's wife, the youth leader, and the youth leader's wife were also in that 40 person group.

It was no problem though, I got all my Spanish I had forgotten back in a couple of days...

Day I:

My dad and I left Harrisonville, Missouri in our Ford F-250 pickup w/ camper and made it to Larado, Texas at 8:00pm CST. We ate at Wendy's and stayed at a Red Roof Inn. While we were in Larado we went ahead across the border to get our papers taken care of so we wouldn't have to in the morning. In the office building in which we took care of our papers... there was a wanted sign up for a Hispanic man who had sexually abused a 5-year-old boy... I was disturbed...

Day II:

My dad and I woke up at 8:00am CST and made it to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico at 9:00pm CST. We ate a burrito restaurant just before we made it to the Barrancas (a group of mountains you have to go through before you get to Guadalajara).

Day III:

MY dad and I got a good night's sleep... woke up at 9:00am CST. I chowed down a burrito and my dad's friend (Reyes), picked us up and took us to a candy shop to buy about 10 kilos of candy for the street meetings, after that we stopped by the school I used to go to down there and met with the people who lived there. (It was a school/home/church/apartmentrentalplace.) We then headed over to a torta restaurant, chowed down some food, and then headed back to our house to clean up and prepare some stuff for the group.

Day IV:

A repetition of the previous day... with different errands.

Day V:

My dad and I loaded up our stuff, picked up Reyes and Samuel (Reyes' son) and headed to the airport. Once we got there, we got the group and loaded them onto the bus we had rented. The choffuer's name was Filipe de Jesus... real nice guy. A Spanish Roman Catholic... really funny too. Unlike most choffuers, he helped load all of the group's bags into the bus... most don't. My impressions of the group at first were... ok, let's see how this works. Once we got to the hotel in Colima, Colima, Mexico called the Hotel Costeño, we had the group, my dad, Reyes, Samuel, Reyitos (Reyes' 20 year old son... Samuel is 5.), Lupe (Reyes' wife), Eva (Reyes' 13 year old daughter), Prisila (Reyes' 11 year old daughter), Adriana (Reyes' 22 year old daughter), and Fatima (Reyes' 17 year old daughter). We went to a meeting at night at one of the villages in Colima... called Suchitlan. I'd been there before years ago. It was a church built on a block, the paster owned all of the land on the block and many of the people lived in small houses in the block, there was also an open area for when groups came, and it had really dense foliage. Most of the girls in the group decided to wear very formal dress and lots of makeup... boy was that a bad decision, they were sweatin' like crazy. The boys decided to go formal also... poor peeps. That night we had taquitos. Some of the boys decided to give a girl standing right outside the church lots of money because she was standing there begging... which almost led to more than several dozen peopel coming to beg. Another girl in the group wanted to take a girl to her home... at 10 o'clock at night... on Sunday... which wasn't a good idea considering she was a sixteen year old blonde... lol. Once I got some free time of my own besides translating, some little kids took a liking to me so a hung out and played with them for a while. I also met a lot of my old friends from Colima here, it was like a family reunion, hehe. The night went by fast, and I crashed at 1:00pm.

I'll post more tommorrow.
