Leper Messiah
Star Wars Vs Star Trek as a fan of both i find the argument supremely irritating. I have read entire websites saying that one side or the other is superior. - WHY?! both shows are incredibly enjoyable in their own way, I like Star Wars because its like a modern myth, the ancient Greeks and Romans had their legendary figures, and we have our Star Wars, but i like Star Trek because its very good at exploring the issues of our human nature by putting the characters in futuristic situations that oddly mirror basic moral issues. Babylon 5 also enters in this catagory. I like both (except the new Star Trek series, Enterprise which i think is awful) and i can't see why people see the need to square them off against each other. Mike Windu
I don't really like Star Trek because it is overly dramatic with little action in it, but hey. To each their own. life as we know it fulfills my drama needs... haha

BongoBob
IG is like...weird I never really got into star trek. But when I was younger, I think about 11 or so, I watched the star wars with Patrick Stewert on it. I really liked it, but then I just stopped watching it. Rogue15
i like star wars for the good vs evil i like star trek cause it's more of a weekly tv thing. I used to watch voyager and ds9 alot. and then when i first got cable i watched the original star trek and fell in love w/spock and kirk and johnny. It's all good. I also like Stargate SG-1 but always miss watching it cause of work. *needs to save up buy all the season dvds*
StormHammer
I used to watch the original Star Trek series when I was a kid (televised in the UK during the early 70's). It was just one of a few SF TV series being aired (and arguably one of the best), and so it was natural to watch it. I thought a few of the movies were very good too. When The Next Generation came along, I can't say I was as interested in it. I remember watching the first few episodes, and thinking it was a bit amateurish, odd, and too full of unnecessary techno-babble. Maybe it was the lack of the dodgy polystyrene sets that did it, I don't know - but I couldn't really get into it. Since then, I've watched quite a lot of TNG, some DS9 and Voyager, and they were okay. Apart from the fact that most of the aliens look like humans with plastic surgery that went wrong, and the universal translator works 99% of the time even with species never met before. My wife is the Star Trek nut in my house, and I've bought her a lot of the series on DVD, so it's hard to avoid... Anyway, I can't say I really dislike the new Treks - but I can't say I really enjoy watching them either. I'll probably always have a soft spot for the original series, mostly because I watched it when I was a kid. As for Star Wars - I really like the original trilogy, not struck on TPM, but AOTC was quite good. I'm hoping the third installment in the prequels will be even better. I certainly prefer watching Star Wars to Star Trek. The thing I dislike about Star Wars is the fact it's become so much of a 'product brand' these days, and some fans lose sight of reality by wanting to become 'Jedi' in real life and praise Lucas like some kind of demi-God. In gaming too it reached a point where they expected to sell any old tosh as long as 'Star Wars' was stuck on the box, so I got disillusioned with the 'brand' for a while - along with watching the movies once too often. I thought that was concise Back in the late 70's when Star Wars came out, they pushed Star Trek on TV again, and that was when I was really into it ... and then BattleStar Galactica. TNG I was quite into when it came out, really enjoyed that weekly, and then my wife and I took to the bad habit of sitting in front of the TV at 7PM eating dinner watching TNG reruns when we were first married ... edlib
I like them both for different reasons... Does that make me strange? I've kinda cooled on Trek in the last couple of years, but that could change if they come out with a new kick-ass movie or series. I wouldn't mind a really good new Trek series... having something actually worth watching on TV might just be a welcome change for me.

Yeah, I'd really love to know what the treatment J.Michael Stracynski(?sic) submitted to paramount was like. Trek *really* needs some fresh blood, those freakin morons Berman and Braga have just funked things up from day 1. I recently heard that they have this 'cool idea' to make the next trek movie a prequel(pre-enterprise era).... good grief mtfbwya

ckcsaber
I've never liked Star Trek at all. I think I've watched one of the movies, I believe it was about saving some whales, or something. That's all I really remember, other than the fact that it was a piss poor excuse for a film. Star Wars, on the other hand, is probably the first thing I was ever truly obsessed with... Prime
Star Trek is OK. Especially... "Buried alive!!" "Khaaaannnnn!!!" It would be better if it had Death Stars, lightsabers, X-Wings, the Force, and stuff like that... And why, oh why, did they turn the Klingons into pussies?
