Good Morning America interview with Hayden

That really was nice ... between that and the music video ...

I like Hayden - I thought he was good in AotC. I know many didn't like him, didn't think he showed the obvious talent shown in 'My Life as a House' and 'Shattered Glass', but I thought he was very good.

The hack they brought of of the audience to saber-duel against Nick Gillard was awful ... my 7 and 8 year old are much more impressive ... ;)

Indeed, I liked Hayden's performance in AotC although alot of people didn't like it. Maybe people will like it better in this one, as Hayden will be more familiar with the constant blue screens and such.

Most of the complaints I see are because they think his character was too whiny, which is of course how he was designed to be played. I haven't seen a lot of complaints about his actual skills as an actor.

I blame the script. Hayden does have what it takes, a lot of his actions were spot on, that's for sure.

Indeed. I think he did exactly as he was supposed to do.

The loves scenes were realistic, creepy, but realistic.

He was whiny, but he's supposed to be. That's what makes him such a perfect pawn for Palpatine/Sidious. He's confused and emotionally unbalanced and he's very powerful, he's the perfect candidate.

Actually i didnt think he was whiny (thats just the dialogue and characterisation).

However some of his lines seemed to be done with a really bland and dull voice

Like when he said, "i had to find a speeder that i liked" it sounded really droll, compared to the enthusiastic voice of ewan in the same dialogue.

I read the novelisation and the actual dialogue is quite good.. personally i think they chose poor takes during the editing process cos the guy can act.

I know, I'm talking about Anakin as a character.

But Anakin used to podrace, things like that scenario probably don't create rise in him like they do Obi-Wan.

I've heard some cast members say something similiar. Hayden was talking in an interview once about how he really liked one take he did, but George chose one of his weaker ones because even though the dialogue delivery was a bit poor, the body language was strong. Of course I'm paraphrasing there, but I read it about a year or so back, so I can't remember exactly what he said.

Hayden cant be blamed for the dialogue. George Lucas has said this himself many a times, including in the "making of ep3" ..

Watch scenes like Schmi's death scene, and the scene where he confesses to padme his slaughet of the Tuskens. They were among the most important scenes in the film(dramatically) and he carried them well. Watching "My Life as a Hpuse' will also reveal more about his acting ability :)

I agree with what sithy said. Most of us are just damn jealous he got to put on the suit and strut around :D
