Welcome to the Forums Ackyuk! :waive1:

It really depends... what genre are you interested in? Futuristic "Space", Fantasy, War Scenario?

I'd personally suggest any of the NeverWinter Nights Series or Dungeon Siege for fantasy... but that's just my personal tastes. I haven't played Morrowind, but I've heard pretty good things about it as well...

Not sure of the other type genres as KotOR was probably my first ever RPG set in a futuristic setting, but with several 1,000 of us here on the forums.. I'm sure we can come up with a few suggestions.. hehehe

I would recommend Jade Empire.
:wstupid:

it has the feel of the Kotor games and the graphics are quite an improvement. its a bit too short for my tastes, though.

you could also wait a bit for Fable: Lost Chapters to come out for the PC and Xbox in October. its supposed to have a lot of new content and it fixes a number of gripes that most people had with the original version released last Christmas season on the Xbox.

just my two pennies. :)

Speaking of Fable, how much control do you have over the pc's gender? I haven't been able to find anything out about that. It may seem silly, but thats a major selling point for me when it comes to RPG's.

I'd advise you to skip Fable, was a huge disappointment.
...only to those that took every word from Molyneux at face value. :dozey:

for the rest of us, we like to keep things a bit more objective than simply saying, "The game sucks because the devs didn't give us everything they promised". personally, i'd rather take into account lots of game reviews than a couple of dissappointed fans that felt "betrayed" by Molyneux for not putting all of his ideas into Fable.

here is a breakdown of just about all the reviews for Fable. with a score of 85%, i would hardly deem Fable as a bad game.

Or only to those who wanted a game that had any form of replayability. Fable was cool, but it didn't have anything special, and as far as RPG's go, the leveling up system was cool, but it was setup so you didn't have to specialize in anything. You could be the master of all three domains and be just as good as anyone at them.

And then the second time you played through it was the exact same game, didn't matter if you were good or evil, it played exactly the same.

So, it was a letdown. Not the worst game I've ever played, but not worth 50 bucks.

Actually I knew nothing about it, but just reading the back of the box then playing it. I felt disappointed. I expected better gameplay and story from such a company.

Nice try with the assumptions though, and I'd hardly call myself a fan.

I agree with that it was, my mate said you'd like it if you like RPG and KOTOR i got it and i thourght it was rubbish couldn't even be borthered to finish it so i swaped it for Jade Empire a million times better then Fable.

I've suddenly found myself with the same problem. I want a game that is up to par with the Kotor games in terms of graphics, story, character creation, and turn based fighting. So far I haven't found anything that seems to come close (for PC).

This sucks, I want Kotor 3 to come out already. . .

To second Chainz.2da's recommendation, check out Dungeon Siege or the Legend of Aranna expansion (I played the expansion first and enjoy it more than the original game). Dungeon Siege II recently came out, but I'm back-logged on game at the moment and am more than willing to wait for the price to drop before I pick it up.

I wouldn't exactly classify DS as a RPG, but it does have some RPG-like features. If you're willing to try something new, give it a shot. You can find it for less than $20 in most places.

I was actually downloading the demo for DS2 while reading reviews about it, then the demo connection was lost. . . Of all the stuff I've been looking through DS2 seems like it might work out, but I'm going to wait till I get my hands on the demo before really drawing any conclusions.

At the moment I'm reading up on Evil Genius for a good laugh, but I hear it's super buggy.

I'm starting to fear that the Kotor series has spoiled me rotten in the RPG genre.

I suggest Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. I don't think you can get it on PC though, but I'm not sure.

Also try an older PS game recently converted to PC called Grandia and Grandia II. The games are completely unconnected, so you don't need to play Grandia to play Grandia II. The graphics are a little TERRIBLE (the characters have no mouths), and the portraits are in anime (AAAAHHHH), but the game plays well and has a decent, although religon-based storyline. I guess you have to like that sort of game to get into it, but it's a really good game.

I ended up gettin Neverwinter Nights Platinum. Despite the graphics not being as great (it IS an older game after all), I totally found it to be worth buying. It gave me a solid. . . month or so of play time and great stories.

Of course now that I've beat it, I'm kinda sad. . . at least until I get the premium modules.

Pirates of the Sword Coast kicks arse ;) I highly recommend it.. though there are also tons of player made modules that are excellent as well...

One of the reasons why I was able to play this game for 3 years (literally)...
