YertyL
I thought of that one too (Although I wanted to fomulate it as: "The ability to grant wishes, including my own."
Aurora Merlow
I'll go with jedi reflexes\agility. Don't know if thats 2 but it would be so cool in life if you could jump around like them and react so quickly to anything that happens. Was thinking about strength but for some reason i think it would make me too feisty
ChAiNz.2da
ChAiNz, bringing real world physics limitations to a "super powers" thread is kind of going against the spirit of comics as breaking these rules is what makes supers... super! Yeah, I can see your point... I'll take the "physics" part out just for more 'fun' The power of Wingless Flight as any of the Hero Powers usually comes with the ability to withstand these events you listed Yeah, but that's the "U-Turn" I wanted to throw in there If you can only have 1 power, without all the kewl "extras" that normally are 'associated' with it Basically, turning a Super-Power into a not-so-super power. I'd like to see people really think about the consequences of having Power, but limitations consequences adding to the 'burden'. -------------- Some really kewl choices I've seen so far. And the thread is doing better than I thought it would.. hehehe... @The Doctor - Time Travel OR Travel anywhere (not anywhen).. but you wouldn't get both @montnoir - Telepathy is kewl. You just wouldn't get Telekenesis, Psionics etc. like you said it'd be mind-reading and such, or Psionics or etc. @stoffe - Kewl power and one I had debated over myself @Achilles - awesome man, and a good reason as to why (meaning the spare time part.. hehehe) @Don Vito - your gloves just turned to weed once you touched them ------------- Keep'm coming gang! Darth InSidious
Hmm....Wisdom or telekinesis.....tough one....On balance, probably telekinesis - after all, I can just do a Force Crush imitation on anyone cleverer than me In any case, I could then not have to walk so much...just floooaaat along.... Rok_stoned
My super power..thats a hard one....Mine would have to be super-sneaky-ness. Not invisibility, but the ability to move very quietly and quickly and avoid being seen. 'Why?' You ask? Because I'm stealthy normally, BS your so loud.. and you run flat-foot (big thumping noises every time you step) i can hear you from across our house. p.s srry for breaking your stealthed bubble but it was glowing radiative green... my super power would be stealth or transmutation of elements. Bastila
I would like the power of being able to (this is hard as you can only have one), well it would be either jedi reflexes\agility something like that or invisablitei like in the fantastic four or somthing, or telekinesis would be cool. I wish we could pick like more then one like who powers would you want like if you said superman you get all, anyway this thread reminds me of the 4400 programme. ChAiNz.2da
I wish we could pick like more then one like who powers would you want like if you said superman you get all Yeah, I had thought of that at first... but it'd be a bunch of one-liner responses. And half of them would be Superman hehehe... I wanted ppl to really think hard about what single power would be really kewl to have, especially set in the "now" time period. ------------ And by all means everyone, feel free to debate more on the powers (just be respectful)... RJM brought up a good point about Super-Strength (ironically the power I chose )... What woud happen if I smacked into a building? Would the strength alone protect someone? Would the building go bye-bye? Some things to think about.. guess I better be careful leaping over tall buildings in a single bound (imagine 'straddling' that fence .. ouch) hehehe... Another thing I realized, having strength doesn't mean you have endurance... The more you think about it, the more having a single "Super Power" seems to be more of a Super Hassle
RevanA4
um the power of transportation up side: no wasted gas money, able to move large distances in an instant, and never be late for work down side: people fear what they can't explain

RedHawke
Yeah, but that's the "U-Turn" I wanted to throw in there If you can only have 1 power, without all the kewl "extras" that normally are 'associated' with it Basically, turning a Super-Power into a not-so-super power. I'd like to see people really think about the consequences of having Power, but limitations consequences adding to the 'burden'. I can feel one of my old Marvel, Champions, and Hero's Unlimited GM's turning over in his grave bed when you say this! Ok, then with that limitation, I'll have to take the ability to use/manipulate the Force, because with that I can do anything I want! From saving kittys stuck in trees all the way to destroying planets! What woud happen if I smacked into a building? It would greatly depend on your velocity, anything under a ceretain speed and you would be in the hurtlocker, anything over that speed and you would be pushing up daisies. That's why those with Super Strength ususally gain a minor invulnrability to certain types of damage, similar to those with Super Speed. The more you think about it, the more having a single "Super Power" seems to be more of a Super Hassle Without the "extras" most are near useless. montnoir
I'm gonna stick with my telepathy (including on/off switch, otherwise I would go insane in a day or two). I reckon at first it would be a mess keeping up with someones thoughts, considering, the speed of thought far surpasses that of the speed of light... I mean, you have about 1001 thoughts going on at the same time, in different "areas" but I presume it would get easier with practice.
CrudeMatter
^^^^ "Tame the wild horses of mind."- Buddhist koan @RH- You were a 'rules lawyer' in your RPG days weren't you? ...no doubt with one of those GM's that was a stickler for 'realism'. lol I've been on both sides of that coin. It reminds me of a friend telling me about a charachter that had the Johnny Storm kind of fire-generation power without the immunity to fire that normally comes with it... life's gotta suck like that. Turn on your power and immediately begin to scream in agonizing pain. Theres a lesson there. lol
The Doctor
Limited Time Travel. The ability to move back in time no more than 10 seconds - even if I'm unconscious(kind of like a reflex). But only a few times a day. I'd be crazy go nuts mang! 10 seconds? Wouldn't you love to travel back to prehistoric Earth? What about the 29th century? That was a good year for the Terran Confederacy....

Sometimes you have to be a 'rules lawyer' sometimes not... it greatly depends on who's running the game/thread. Being I have been a GM for the majority of my RPG-ing time, the rules and learning them quickly, tend to sink in. To deal with those who are dedicated 'rules lawyers' you have to beat them at their game, I have had my share of these players too. The minute someone mentions "real physics" relating to Super Powers, I tend to switch to this mode... for sheer safety reasons.

I know the process all too well. A 'rules lawyer' is an under-nurtured idealist. To beat them at their game is to be a little more nurtured. To feed them... ah! now that is an art. 'Seek not to follow in the footsteps of the master, seek what the master sought.' @ChainZ- *whisper* thanks for helping me get a better bead on him. ...!...act casual. *innocent whistling* um... nice thread. But maybe you should've excluded folks like RH and me... we've probably danced this dance many times before, in un-forgiving detail, and that doesn't usually allow the fresh thought that it seems you were wanting. A long-time GM has had many more opportunities to ponder the idea, ad nauseum, than most folks. We probably just stink the place up and/or shut it down. I would have rather seen you include quantum physics and spirituality than take physics out. lol see what I mean? I'm still with stoffe on this one.
