The Seeker
Sort of an unorthodox one here, but I'd want the ability to enter into, interact in, and exit fictitious universes at will. I mean imagine being able to go to the star wars universe, or walk the coridoors of the Nostromo (exiting without being eaten of course) or watch firsthand as captain Ahab gets pulled to his death. Man that would be frickin' sweet. And holy thread bumpage batman! Good thread though

Mace MacLeod
Definitely telekinesis a la Stewie in the Family Guy episode where they gain superpowers. So many possible applications, so little time...
Cygnus Q'ol
Actually none. "With great power comes great responsibility." Invisibility would be cool, but what would you use it for? How would you hone that skill to help others? Become the world's best spy? or just run around locker rooms? Great strength and agility? How could that help you or your family? Ok, so you can pick up a car and throw it. So what. What can you really do with that? Manipulation of the mind seems worthy, does it? How would you use that? Perhaps influence the leaders of the nations of the world to cease fire. Maybe, but then wouldn't we then be living in your manipulated world, not one created by the wills of living people? How about manipulating the doctors of the world to heal people regardless of their age or financial situation? That seems worthy. Where would you start? Or would you just manipulate bank tellers to fill up the bag willingly? Even the seemingly honorable task of healing manipulation, how would that work? How will you fare when you realize that even then, you couldn't heal everyone on the planet before they die. When it starts to get around that you are travelling around the world playing Jesus and healing folks, how much privacy and family time do you think you'll have? How would one fare psychologically knowing the hopes of cure of so many would rest on your shoulders? Hmmm. Food for head. Very interesting thread. I wonder if we stop and think, would we really want these powers?
igyman
Hmmm, one super power... well I've always wanted the ''Mind Control'' ability. I think it would be extremely useful. Now, this is a tricky one when it comes to Chainz's rules, but I think that when you say Mind Control you know that you can't have control without knowing your target's thoughts. So, I guess this would be a telepathy of sorts, but focused mostly on the ''control'' part.
tk102
Teleportation for me. That would save time and money and you could explore every place on the planet. And of course you could escape the clutches of any supervillain and be home in time for dinner.
Dark_Lady
I wonder if we stop and think' date=' would we [i']really[/i] want these powers? YES!!! You say we wouldn't be able to help everyone, but we'd sure as heck be able to help more people than we can right now. And it's not like it's obvious we have those powers (since one of the rules is that your physical appearance doesn't change), so if we played it right, people might never find out. Super-strength: It isn't only used for throwing cars. You could also help people get their trucks out of ditches, free people from the rubble of collapsed buildings, just help your friends when they move... Manipulation of the mind: You could get criminals to tell you where their victims are, defuse hostage situations instantly, find out where terrorists plan to attack next... Healing manipulation: See my first point. Invisibility: Well, like you yourself said... the best undercover agent ever. A lot of hostile situations can be easily managed once you know the enemies plans. I don't know what I'd do with my power. I'd think of something, I guess. Become the world's best spy? or just run around locker rooms? The lockerroom part is an 'fortunate' side-effect. With invisibility, you can do SO much. Infiltrate without the enemy (criminals) knowing it. And of course, in war, being invisible makes it possibly for you to 'stop' someone without killing. Yes, if 'd be invisble, i'd be a nice guy Except for the locker room part...

Jason Skywalker
Well, i guess, if it's not against the rules, i would simply love the be a FORCE USER. It has just so many abilities! A little jolt of a Force to trip off some jerk who's either bullying us or eyeing the women, to cloak myself and get out of classes easily, to acess peoples mind, well, you know the Force's uses! Dark_Lady
Yeah, but it's against the rules, since it involves a mystical energy field that doesn't exist in the real world. Too bad, otherwise I would have taken that too.
Jason Skywalker
Ah, k then. I guess i would have chosen...super speed. Can't we have the "All of the above" power?
Darth InSidious
@Cygnus: No, probably not. The temptation to use such power, coupled with the problems of controlling it would be...crippling.
Mav
Alright, seeing as nobody has chosen this one yet, save for Jimbo, I'm gonna represent the stereotypical hormone driven teenage/young adult male and go with the good type of "X-ray Vision", "good type" meaning 1. you see in the flesh and can penetrate "layers", none of this black and white vision, and "layers" meaning... well I think most can think what I mean there, and 2. This sort of comes with the "layers", but it's not a constant thing, you can "turn it off" there are obviously some things that you don't want to be able to see through. So I guess it is more of a "see-through" vision vs. "X-ray" vision. If the X-ray thing breaks ChAiNz.2da's rules, 1. I don't care , 2. fine I'll take "extreme endurance", I think you can see where I'm going with that one *wink* *wink*

Tysyacha
Ever hear of Ted Brautigan in Stephen King's Hearts in Atlantis? Ted really IS psychic. He can catch glimpses of the future. He's not God, not anywhere near it, but he has sort of a precognition ability. That would be my superpower, and, like Ted, I wouldn't be omniscient in my power-- not at all--but at least if the bad guys got all of it, they would explode. Either that, or I would have the power to hear what God/Higher Power/ Supreme Being says, if such a being exists. That would be a lot cooler.
