Banjo4321 Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 There is some confusion now about the release date of this content on Gametap as well as if it is new, old, or a mix of both. Please read the updates to the Freelance Police thread. http://forums.adventuregamers.com/showpost.php?p=342994&postcount=31
Banjo4321 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Good news! Looks like the cartoon really is coming to Gametap: http://www.gametapper.com/samandmax/
itchythesamurai Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 "All-new Sam & Max animated shorts." My guess is CGI animation, right? Don't think they have the resources for traditional animation, but I could see flash as a possibility.
Banjo4321 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 ^ I've read the shorts will be machinima, if that helps you any. They will be made by Telltale.
itchythesamurai Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Unfortunately, "machinima" has no meaning to me. Anyone know what he's talking about?
Jake Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Machinima is a silly term coined by people who make short videos using in-game tools or mods on the game engine. The Sam & Max shorts will be really quick animated shorts put together by the Sam & Max dev team using in-engine tools. Basically the gaming equivilent of a newspaper comic strip.
Scummbuddy Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Yes, Jake, since you have the inside-scoop, and they have made some sort of a press release, could you now clarify if we are getting both, the animated series, or just new machinima episodes from TellTale? --- And Itchy, come on.. google before asking questions. And double shame on you for not know about Red vs. Blue by RoosterTeeth.
Banjo4321 Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 ^ Just go to http://www.gametap.com/samandmax
Banjo4321 Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 The line about the episodes at the link above has been removed. This could be bad news.
Banjo4321 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 New trailer on Gametap specifically says the cartoon is coming! See video below: Warning: May contain some puzzle spoilers. http://www.gamespot.com/pages/profile/video_player.php?id=cXI7kDD_5bgMszDb
itchythesamurai Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Wow Banjo, you are really on top of things. Cool news.
Banjo4321 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 From this week's Gametap newsletter: "We're just days away from the October 17th world premiere of GameTap's first original game, Sam & Max: Season 1! Can't wait? Head over to GameTap TV on October 12th to watch the first episode of the Sam & Max cartoon series and on October 17th, watch the "Making of Sam & Max" before playing the first game episode. That's a great way to kick off the year of the dog (and rabbity -thing) as we roll out new Sam & Max content, including games, cartoons, and more every week for the next six months!"
Banjo4321 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Well, it's official: http://www.telltalegames.com/blogs/telltale/?permalink=A6288BA47E0493A2CFC0EB7094EA0566.txt&smm=y http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/10/sam-and-max-cartoon-coming-to-gametap
xChri5x Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 As much as I want the TV series, I'm gonna stay telltale loyal. they're the ones making the game. I'm going to support them. Gametap seems like a clueless money hungry company that's just using Sam and Max as a new fad to make money. That being said, if I was living in america I'd probably give in....
SyntheticGerbil Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Well, whatever gets the TV series closer to a DVD release...
Samnmax221 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Well what do you know, TellTale links to Samandmax.net for an explanation of the Animated series. Use your own webspace bastards!
Udvarnoky Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 As much as I want the TV series, Until and unless Gametap releases the unaired episodes, they're not offering anything that can't be seen on youtube in the same quality (albeit illegally).
Banjo4321 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Well I wouldn't count on many of the pirated YouTube videos sticking around much longer. Now that YouTube is owned by Google they are really going to be cracking down on that kind of stuff. They will even block your homemade video now if you have copyrighted music in it.
itchythesamurai Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Google plays it by the books. They are legit.
Samnmax221 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I know, I have a cousin who works for them.
itchythesamurai Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 That's cooler than my cousins, who would be the perfect supporting cast for a remake of Deliverance. This doesn't mean GameTap owns the rights to the tv series, right?
Banjo4321 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I really doubt it. Nelvana is probably just licensing the episodes. They still have the power to make the next big move.
Laserschwert Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Anybody able to make a few screenshots of the episodes at full size? I have the available VHS-tapes, and I'd like to know how the quality of those GameTap-streams holds up. Given that they'll (hopefully) show the episodes that are missing from the tapes as well, and they become "available" outside of the US someway or the other...
