WHAT THE F***?!

Has anyone else seen this site? It's some sort of timer for something, although that something is on a password-protected site on their server. So far, I've found out that it logs the IP addresses of it's visitors, traces them, and plots them on a map. I also know that their log file is getting f***ing owned by hackers from YTMND's forums and 4chan (one of the boards hosted on their ZIP server).

Anyone know anything about it?

***Edit***

The "hacks" are actually faked referers. There's a bug in the site's code that allows you to add an "<h1>" tag before your custom "referer" in RefSpoof which allows you to add whatever you want after the tag and have it appear as text on the page. The only catch is that you can't add spaces.

There was a YTMND site up today and I made some comments. People say it's a bunch of hackers who are going to attack the internet at the end of the time. But others say it's just viral marketing a-la ilovebees.com.

I think it's viral despite people asking why they have places where it says "Members, consult your rule book." Thinking that it's some cult or a den of hackers, even an extension of the Church of Scientology.

But I believe it's all bull where they make up details and post random letters and numbers to make it seem like some secret code, like how the people behind ilovebees.com made a background story about a bee keeper who opened a web site. Which was all bull.

Also, it's been reported that people are posting code on web sites with stuff like "This section [ao-901012ev9z-12] has been completed and coded. It's ready for review [Code: #910-hha88n]" (I just made that up, but it's like that)

If it was a group of hackers they wouldn't want to be seen and they probably wouldn't go to such measures to create graphics and stuff. So it's all fake, and I believe it's a fact, for all we could know it could change to a PS3 site to show it's features and stuff like that.

Investigating without actually checking the site 'cause of fear of having my ip tracked, there's A pretty useful ytmnd about it and of course, Wikipedia.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was just some sweet viral marketing ploy, like I<3Bees.

Edit- Curses, Tie! Oh well. Although, it was pretty cool 'cause I had Radiohead-Paranoid Android playing along in the background. :p

This site is all crap, they say that the dots on the map represent high areas where they will "strike" Well, the YTMND has a pic of the map and it had no dot on Seattle, when I go there it has one. So it takes my IP and maps it. Also, I loaded up the page earlier today and I saw it load up the dots on the map, it didn't load for anywhere but the US and Canada, meaning that the rest of the map has false dots implanted to act like it's world wide, when in reality I doubt that someone in Kenya is viewing the site.

Having them track your IP is not dangerous because it's not like they can hurt you. On other forums I see people saying "Holy crap, I'm not going to click cause I'm going to get hacked because it can tell I'm using Firefox and it says my IP." Well, a lot of places have technology that can find that out with no threat to you.

About the end of the world, anyone with a rational thought in their mind can tell the world won't end because of some timer counting down on some random web site.

Also, think about it, they post random codes all over their site, add website names to their "reffered" lists, and have people post random **** on other web sites. And having the 404 page saying "This action has been recorded" means absolutely nothing.

People just need to get over themselves, though I'm still interested in what it's going to be in the end. I just know that it's not evil or anything.

Edit:

Also...

Thank you all for posting and I think we are close to finding out the answer as to what the hell Eon8.com is all about. The following was posted by a blogger called CERBERUS and I believe that this person is directly linked to Eon8.com or else is very cocky!! What do you think??

>>You are correct, this is not a terrorist act, nor is it a hoax.<<

>>It is not affiliated with video games or movies.<<

>>Think on what the map signifies<<

>>Think on what the time and date represents from the history of this country.<<

>>Use your head, everything is part of the_[LF P$X419<<

I have found that ES-12 when changed from hexidecimal coding reads as Not a multople which I believe to be a default for if the translator I used doesn't or can't translate. If anyone has any ideas on the rest of it such as what the 1st July signifies in history (American I presume) then please post as soon as possible - I really want to figure this out before the countdown ends and I can't do it by myself - my knowledge of computers and American history is shaky to say the least [mainly because I'm from England!! ]

Also again:

Fun facts: eon8 is based in Dallas, Texas. Their webhost deals solely with BUSINESSES. Suspense ruined

Edit 2:

This is viral marketing succeeding.

Subservient Chicken - Burger King

ilovebees.com - Halo 2

OurColony - Xbox 360

Viral marketing is sometimes used to describe some sorts of Internet-based stealth marketing campaigns, including the use of blogs, seemingly amateur web sites, and other forms of astroturfing to create word of mouth for a new product or service. Often the ultimate goal of viral marketing campaigns is to generate media coverage via "offbeat" stories worth many times more than the campaigning company's advertising budget.

that sounds like the buddytracker for AIM. One of my friends had it in his profile, and whoever clicked the link, you would be able to find their address on a map, right down to the street.
No, it's not one of those. The map used for this and the markers placed on it are separate images, the dots are just generated at coordinates that are kinda close to the IP address' actual location.

It's definatley weird, and it's definatly doing a damn good job. But whatever business is doing it shouldn't have chosen a host that only deals with businesses. If they had gone with one that was just a genuine we-host-whatever, I might have at least thought twice about if it's viral or not, but it's just damn good viral marketing. Case closed.

Now, on to trying to figure it out :D

The Beast will be awakened, the darkness shall spread from the valley. The mountains on the east end are of the red, and they shall show their countenance to all the earth...

At the coming of dawn on the chronometer's adjournment, they will rise and eat their sausages!!!!

B.S.ing is easy. :p
