Fish.Stapler Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 It was kind of "meh". It had high points and low points, but to me it seemed kind of cliched and the villains were boring. Not to mention horrid male-pc voice acting. The gameplay was fun enough to keep me interested though.
MrWally Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Haha in all honesty I haven't played through all of it, but just last week I started again, and now I'm on the mission to save Rosh from captivity. The gameplay is fricken amazing, and sure the storyline doesn't compare to KotOR's, but yeah, I like it.
Samuel Dravis Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 It was meh for me. While JA was fine, I just didn't really care about the story. The only thing that got to me was Rosh. Die, Rosh.
IG-64 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Eh, it was alright, kinda pointless. Guess I'll go with "meh."
Pho3nix Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Eh, it was alright, kinda pointless. Guess I'll go with "meh." Same.
jon_hill987 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 It was quite good, though the Dark/light side choice sucked. It would have been cool if you didn't get to choose and the path you take is Dependant on your actions throughout the rest of the game. For example how many people you killed when you didn't have to. how many people you tortured with lightning. Mind you, most people would have never seen the light ending if that was the case.
Spider AL Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 The storyline was pretty good. Better than the prequels, at any rate. Not that that's saying much. The light/dark choice was too isolated and abrupt, as Hill stated. However, it was still a nice moment, not least because Rosh was so annoying that it was genuinely tempting to kill him and turn to the dark side. So I for one felt a genuine internal conflict raging before I finally spared the oik. Cut it how you like, that's good drama.
BongoBob Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 It was "meh." But I still will install it every once in a while just to lighting a bunch of stormies, or force choke a jedi off a platform into lava, etc., etc. TBH I bought it for the multiplayer
Prime Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 The story was ok, but some of the characters could have been better...
Titanius Anglesmith Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I thought thought the story was ok (though quite inferior to Jedi Outcast) and the gameplay was great. I still can't get over the fact that the female Jaden is voice-acted by Jennifer Hale (Bastila, KotOR). She doesn't sound at all the same. The worst thing about the game is Jaden's lines. "That's Jedi KNIGHT, Ragnos" That's just awful. He's so immature. I only wish I could have had the option to kill Rosh, but remain on the light. He was just so frickin annoying!
Spider AL Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I only wish I could have had the option to kill Rosh, but remain on the light. He was just so frickin annoying!Yup. Remaining on the light side was definitely the tougher choice. But that's good, it adds realism to the game.
Negative Sun Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 Yup. Remaining on the light side was definitely the tougher choice. But that's good, it adds realism to the game. lol, truth!
RoxStar Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 The storyline was pretty good. Better than the prequels, at any rate. Not that that's saying much. I thought that the main thing wrong with the prequels was the dialogue. The actual story is excellent, in my opinion. Jedi Academy's story is sort of like a throwaway because it forks into two sections. The story isn't as much about Kyle as it is about his Apprentice. Since the player essentially makes the character, there is little solid ground upon which to ubild upon, in terms of character development, since the engine still runs in tradition Q3/JO mode and not the marvelous complexity of the KotOR series, character development and dialogue are extremely limited.
TiE23 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Woo hoo, I never played it except for the first 2 levels.... I hated it... well, then again that was 2006 and I was busy playing games like HL2 with much better graphix...
BongoBob Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Wait. You're on the Jedi Knight forums, and you never played JKA until 2006? ... Alright, time to take you out back and beat you with the hose.
jebbers Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 'meh' is too much credit, id say more like 'blarg'.
Det. Bart Lasiter Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Wait. You're on the Jedi Knight forums, and you never played JKA until 2006? ... Alright, time to take you out back and beat you with the hose. You use the whip for that. The hose is for other things.
Sabretooth Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 IMO, the storyline was much worse than what I had expected. Luckily, the gameplay saved the game.
boinga1 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Not very good storyline. The missions all felt pretty disconnected from each other and the concept fighting force-enhanced warriors felt too similar to JO. Overall, I felt it was pretty boring and childish in areas.
lukeskywalker1 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I thought it was good when I played at first... (2003... whoa... 4 years ago!) but I've played much better now. The story started decently, then... well, the missions didn't have much to do with the story.
