Mike Windu
Do all the characters I loved as a kid get killed in the first 10 minutes? If not, then it is already better than the 1986 film. I hate to disappoint you.. but... they actually all die in the first five minutes. The remainder of the film is about a boy failing at catching the eye of a young girl... I mean honestly I don't know why they put it in the action genre... it's more of a romantic comedy.

SykoRevan
Personally, I would have had David Kaye do Megatron's voice instead of the guy who played Agent Smith in the Matrix who did it (David Kaye did Megatron's voice in Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and the Unicron Trilogy; Transformers: Armada, Energon, and Cybertron). I didn't know Peter Cullen (The original Optimus) was doing Optimus's voice, so when I heard him speak, I screamed out loud in my head and choked on a piece of popcorn There isn't anything I can say about the movie that can give it justice. Suffice to say, I loved it
Lynk Former
Hugo Weaving did do a good job with his delivery of his lines though.
Prime
I saw it last night. I'll give a core dump later. But it didn't "rape" my childhood...
swphreak
I saw most of it Thursday, and what I saw was pretty awesome. The only Transformers I was really into was Beast Wars, so no "raping" of my childhood. I plan to see it again this weekend so I can see the rest of it. Megatron reminds me a lot of the Power Rangers Movie villain. And, actually, Beast Wars was about "descendants" of Autobots and Decepticons in the future travelling to the past to ancient earth. Mace MacLeod
<<<Still has most of his old transformers in a box in the closet. Just took my daughter to see it. Meh...it was good-ish. Yes, the FX were flawless, the robots were great, lotsa stuff gets blowed up real good; it's basically an overly-long toy commercial aimed squarely at the PG-13 crowd. GM!!! CHEVROLET!!! WOOHOOOO!!!!! Product placement was just moronic, even if it is a "toy" movie. Watchyaself! It's a Nokia!!! *teh Gaspzorz* ^^^Bang on target. How much do you think GM paid for all that advertising time? Liked Bumblebee as a new Camaro, although Jazz's "jive-talkin'" act was annoying as hell. The good: --Stuff gets blowed up reeeeeeeeal good. --Action sequences rocked. --Occasional laughs. --Same Optimus Prime voiceover guy as in original series. The bad: --Middle act too damn long. --Cornball dialogue abounds. --Wanted to beat that Shia LeBoeuf kid senseless on a regular basis. The kid has about ten grand worth of crap in his bedroom, but he's trying to sell his grandfather's glasses on eBay to raise $2k for a car...? What a brat... --All characters (human or robot) essentially generic cardboard cutouts except for a bulging-eyed, scenery-chewing John Turturro as Evil Government Spook #2. --Starscream gets one line, Megatron has about five, Barricade has one, and all the other decepticons are just there to blow things up and look cool. Not one is permitted anything remotely like personality. See above. --I suspect the US Secretary of Defense might not behave quite like the one in this movie when under pressure. --PG rating prohibits showing human casualties which y'know could just possibly happen if huge alien robots started shooting missiles and flashy ray guns at each other in the middle of afternoon rush hour in a major city. --Dumb continuity gaffes. EG: what happened to starscream and the scorpion-icon? They kept Megatron frozen in the Hoover Dam for decades on end, back-engineered all modern technology from him, and it never occurred to them to take him apart? Huh? Why does that stupid cube thing only create pissed-off transforming robots who want to kill everyone...? Life-spark my ass... My 2 cents: not bad, but if I had to do it over again, I'd wait for the dvd or just download it. 6/10.
JoeDoe 2.0
I just went to watch it from the second time, it never gets old for me, the action and comedy are very well mixed together, but, there's something that bugs me: Who is that scorpion like creature that chases the soldiers on the desert? Isn't he part of BEAST WARS or something?

Commander Obi-Wan
I give this movie... full marks. For one, I have never really been interested Transformers until really a few weeks ago. Though, I kind of wish I was a bit more interested them when I was younger. So, I didn't really know what to expected and I was expecting too much out of it. I think I got what I bargained for. There was tons of action (that's a given), some humour, and the story wasn't too bad and neither was the acting. I was impressed by Shia Leboeuf's performance (having not seen Disturbia) and really that only other shows/movies I've seen him in was Holes and Even Stevens. ( ) I liked the voices they used for the Transformers. Though, I couldn't really recognize Hugo Weaving's voice as Megatron. Optimus Prime was awesome. Definitely my favourite Transformer. I'll have to see it again, since there was so much action and I missed some of it. Definitely in my top 3 movies I've seen this year with Live Free or Die Hard and Hot Fuzz. I'll probably get this on DVD, too.
Mike Windu
Well, I could definitely feel the Smith channeling through Megatron when he says Is it fear that compels you? Or Courage? Aash Li
OMGOMGOMGOMG!!! I absolutely loved this movie! There were a few parts I didnt like, but altogether it was awesomely-awesome! But, I dont think they should have writers do Transformers that dont seem know much about them besides what they dig up on the internets... >_> Prowl is an Autobot you idiots! Get it right! >_<
stingerhs
well, i just saw the movie last night. overall, i was quite impressed and thoroughly entertained. the plot was relatively basic and was fairly predictable, especially towards the middle. however, the movie was punctuated by some good acting from Labeouf, even if most of the other human characters felt a little flat. overall, it was quite good, but it was far from greatness. 6/
Aash Li
I liked Megan Fox (Mikaila), she was pretty good. John Voigt should have played the head of Section 7 instead of that weasly guy... he didnt do so good playing a neutral person. The guy playing the president was funny though. Sounded just like him. Sam's parents were funny. The whole movie made me think it was a Gi Joe vs Transformers comic brought to life. hehe
DrPhil2501
overall, it was quite good, but it was far from greatness. 6/10 I TAKE THAT AS AN INSULT! Its the best movie I have seen so far this year, and found it to be very entertaining (although, I'm waiting for the new Harry Potter movie to come out to see what that is like), so I'd rate it 9/10. Yea! Top that! I'd like to see you try!
Aash Li
I give it an 8/10 for various reasons, but it was the only movie that has come out in a long time that made me go "OMG I *have* to see that in the theater!"

Yea! Top that! I'd like to see you try! well, i will say that its the best Micheal Bay movie i've ever seen, so i will give the movie that much credit. and i do have to disagree with you about the movie being the best movie of the year. Ratatouille was a much better movie overall with excellent voice acting, character design, and a better done story. if you're going to compare it against action films, i would pick 300 as the best action film that i've seen thus far (i haven't seen the Die Hard movie to compare as of yet) as it blended excellent action, good characters, and a well told story. don't get me wrong, now. Transformers is a good movie, but i just simply would not go as far to say that its the best movie of the year. *shrugs*
